Congratulations to a great team. So proud of you.
It’s a VERY real thing, they beat good teams to get there, and they are CHAMPIONS.
They became what they were capable of being. What they can do under future coaching is hard to comprehend. The sky is the limit!

Congratulations team! You are champions and did not quit. That is what makes you great, and inspires the rest of us. Enjoy the moment. I believe this is only the beginning of better things to come. Let's Go X!

My attitude about the program (and being in the NIT) did a complete 180 from the Cleveland State game to tonight. Obviously the Miller hire was a big factor, once that happened and Hayes took over, I figured if we are in it we should win it! I was actually invested tonight cheering harder than I thought I would have. Congrats Muskies!

Right there with you.
Interesting tidbit from the game: with around nine minutes left in the second half, an Aggie fan yelled at one of the refs with money in his hand, offering the money to the ref in exchange for calling a fair game. He was kicked out of the arena!
I am proud of all of the players as well as Jonas and staff. Especially since they defeated a very good team that likely should have been in the NCAA tournament. I am blown away that Jonas took over and showed he can really coach. I hope he stays, but it’s clear he’s proven he can successfully lead a basketball program. Still, if he sticks around and X does well in the regular season and in the NCAA tournament next year, good schools will come after him.

As much as the NIT sux and it does, you may as well win it and they did. The players and coaches seemed to really enjoy themselves and I hope we don't see the NIT again for another 64 years. But congrats on a helluva turn around on the season. I wonder if Steele was hoping they lose against Florida? Winning the NIT kind of shows with good coaching comes good results. Fun two weeks and I can't wait for next year. Going to be sooooo much fun. Thanks guys!

I've been less involved on the board this season, so I'm guessing someone has stated this already, but the team under Hayes played so much more like what a college team should play like. It was such a stark contrast to Steele in my eyes.
And I was also pleased to see Jones as one of the main ball handlers in the tournament. It seemed like he was pretty dynamic with drives and passing. I wouldn't be unhappy if he played point regularly. He wasn't making too many mistakes.

If that guy thought they were only making bad calls against the Aggies, he had blinders on. The refs were bad both ways. When the TV announcers are calling out the refs, you know it’s bad!

Since they made 6 more FT's than we even attempted, maybe they were escorting him to the refs locker room to pay up after the game.

During part of a post-NIT Championship interview, coach Jonas Hayes remarked that,"Nobody remembers an interim coach, you know." Coach Hayes, your legacy in Xavier basketball history is set with your leadership and skill in taking this team during challenging circumstances to a wonderful season ending championship and you will never be forgotten by the legions of alumni, students, and fans of Xavier!

That 2022 under the 1958 on the NIT Championship banner will always be yours Coach Hayes. That banner will belong to you, your staff, and your players for the rest of time. I will always remember what you and your team did when everything else would have been easier. Well done, sir. Well done.

Hear! Hear!
Coach Hayes speaks from the heart with conviction and he doesn’t bumble. Under his leadership, the players did not stumble. He led them to victory in every single rumble. And through it all (and at the end) he remained grateful and humble.
Three cheers for Jonas Hayes!

Congrats to the players and coaches. They really turned things around in the last 2 weeks. Jonas deserves a head coaching job somewhere. I wish he had been our coach sooner. Hope we don't regret passing on him

That's a great point and answers the question of whether we should hang a banner. Every time we look at that banner, we will think about the transition and the part Jonas Hayes - undefeated as a Xavier HC - in getting to that points and beyond, to greater glory.

Missing the front end of the 1 and 1's does help to unbalance the number of free throw attempts.

Just think, with X taking the NIT Championship and should Villanova take the NCAA National Title, the Big East will have swept both tournaments!

And the Big East could sweep all 4. UConn wins the NCAA Women’s and Seton Hall wins the Women’s NIT

Gonna take a whale of an effort from Seton Hall at this point. South Dakota State is cruising at home at the half.
