I miss the days of the Olean Welding Academy.

Next Tuesday might be a game where nobody even gets off the Bonnies bench. They play literally 5 guys and almost nobody else.

Will history repeat itself?

I'm not that old but I know my history.

#1958

I’m cool with a banner coming out of this. Followed by another, BIGGER banner in the next few years.

As long as we don't trot these guys out 20 years from now to celebrate their NIT championship then I'm okay with a small banner may be in the first stall of the mens bathroom.

Olean

Xavier needs to be careful of runs in this game.

One of the best things to come out of our exiting the A10 was eliminating the annual trek to the frozen tundra. I think the last game there resulted in a miserable overnight bus trip back to Cincy.

I still miss the legend of NoPants and his perfectly irrational Bonnie hatred.

OMG. The trips to the Frozen Tundra.
There, literally, is nothing else to do in Olean during the winter than drink and Welders basketball. That is unless you went to Peak N Peek to ski.
Mario never had any problem sneaking me into the Reilly Center. Nobody cared up there.
And it was so remote, Joe and Byron would drive to Olean by themselves with no other WLW crew. They'd get some student engineer from WSBU to do that on site job, hopefully with no glitches.
And the stat man for the Broadcast was always Lew Hirt Society guy Charlie H from Rochester, who would drive down. As always he was impeccable.

One time on my way back from Toronto, I encountered a US Border Patrol agent at the Peace Bridge. He saw my Xavier Ohio Plate and said, jokingly- "Detain this man". Turns out he was an Olean grad. he was mad we were leaving the A10. we did joke for a minute. I paid him off.

Winning the NIT would be fine, but we are NOT allowed to excessively celebrate this 'achievement'.

Finishing 69th would be #Nice

How about a parade capped with three cars and a route that involves campus to Dana's.

Wouldn't it be weird if the team Miller built won the national championship and the team he is coming to won the NIT and he was in between both?

I just want to add that, welding scandal aside, we have to give credit to the Bonnies for having such a tight tradition and passion for their basketball program. If you consider what they're up against in the form of SLU, URI, Richmond, Davidson and VD, they certainly have demonstrated an ability to punch above their weight class over the years.

Olean coupled with their athletic budget cannot possibly be easy. Schmidt has done a very good job their.

It's rather wild that the 1958 match-up is being revisited, though on a much more inconsequential basis.

The Bonnies played 4 starters the full 40 minutes in the last game and only played 6 players total. I don't think they can beat Xavier that way unless they build up a lead that Xavier can't overcome.

With the Tin Man that would have been a distinct possibility.
