To want X to play in Dayton, win, and then win a couple more games?!?! I LOVE traveling to watch X while hanging out with other team's fans.

Yeah and I want a million dollars. X plays Dayton this year and they lose by 15+ . I want the season over and Steele to see the unemployment line.

If/when X plays in Dayton, I'll take X +15. You get a night of drinking at Dana's against a Captain and Coke at the Traditions Club pregame next year?

Would our fans even turn up for the game? A lot of people say they are giving up their season tickets next year if Steele is retained. Can’t imagine they would travel to Dayton to watch Steele run his magical offense.

What is your definition of a lot? The 20 people here on XHooops? I can't comprehend not rooting for X no matter who the coach is!!!

i love basketball and would watch (from Conn). Honestly i am not sure St Johns is not the most talented BE team and will not be going to NCAA. Probably many other examples around the country. I am so sad at our results (and in hindsight the Butler win would have gotten us the PIG which i did not think at the time) and Providence was beatable(as it turned out). The Villanova /UConn game was so high quality and i wonder how the heck did we beat UConn. Creighton is a different team WITHOUT Nemhard having the ball all the time(more balance and spacing and everyone owns the possession rather than just giving it to Nemhard as before. Nobody was beating them last night. I remember last NIT (a good team with Hankins, Welage, Castlin PLUS our decent 4) and they lost as Q went 1 for 2 as clock ran out forcing OT(if he hit both we are back at home). Deja vu and dont forget 19-31 agasint FSU

Agreed. I don’t think the posters here are representative of the Xavier fan base as a whole. We’re a little more obsessed. Will there be some here who don’t renew their season tickets if Travis is back? Sure. There will also be some who don’t know know this site exists who won’t renew, but probably at a much smaller percent than here.

I mean yeah it’s not representative of the entire fanbase, but I can’t imagine there are many season ticket holders that are happy right now. There was constant booing in three home games this year. I’m very willing to bet if Steele is back, 20% of season ticket holders won’t renew and there won’t be anyone to pick those up.

Oh I def hope X makes the dance. Send us to VD and if they don't make it which I'm pretty sure they won't , They will show up in the thousands to root against X. Just make the freaking dance so we add a year to our banner. 2018 needs a buddy.

I think 20% might be a little high, though I think it will be more than 10%. I’m sure almost all fans, season ticket holders or not, are not happy. I’m a season ticket holder and if you asked me about renewing right after the loss to Butler, or as I was leaving early at the Seton Hall game, I would have said no way in hell I’m doing that. I’ve calmed down a bit now and can’t imagine not going to Cintas to watch Xavier basketball.

That’s fair. If I was a season ticket holder, I’d be giving up my tickets but that’s just me. I go to 3-4 a year and I won’t go to one next year if Steele is retained. To each their own. How many season tickets holders are there. 6 or 7k?

There are *approximately* 8,500 season holders. The lower bowl you also pay a “seat license” fee.
I don’t know what the breakout is between lower bowl and upper, but I could see up to 3,000 tix given up this year.
People don’t want to go to see pain, no matter how much they love the school. There was a LOT of disgust in New York.
TV carries all games, remember.

Yep and attendance at most sporting events are already in decline… heck even most college football venues have seen a decline over the last decade… you used to not be able to ever get a notre dame football ticket, now it’s easy as hell to get whatever game you want

You also had the student section chanting for Steele to be fired and his wife getting into it with fans of the program. I just don’t see how he comes back from this.

It will be interesting to see what they do with the price of season tickets and the AFO donation / seat license / where am I parking fee for next year. If they’re smart, they’ll actually drop them. No way they can justify an increase.

They won’t drop prices but likely keep everything the same. There’s no extra value provided and lowering the price gives the impression of lessening the product. Price isn’t a factor in whether people renew anyway

Except right now the product is worth less. I agree they won’t, but they should.

Is there some cancellation fee involved if you break one of the Premium Seating contracts?

Murph85

No but you may lose point value. Barring a coaching change I don’t give a shit and am non renewing despite having the best seat I have ever had.

Yes, you are crazy to want that. IF Xavier plays in Dayton, I want them to win seven more games and Steele to get a lifetime contract (with unlimited free drinks at Dana's clause).

You MAY in fact be crazy, but this would not be why!

I love traveling for X games in the tournament and the energy that goes is generated by all the fans. I remember a great trip when we were playing in Orlando years ago. The first bar I went into became my regular spot. There was a big group of guys from Wisconsin having a blast. Wisconsin wasn’t even playing in Orlando, but this group would pick a warm weather destination every year an attend as a group. They had several generations of regulars for this annual adventure. They were having so much fun I bought some of them a pitcher of beer and immediately became “one of them”. It’s a fantastic memory many years later.

Sadly, it’s been a while since I’ve had that kind of fun during the NCAA Tournament……

Agree, but I can comprehend going to the games with a much lower excitement level and if God forbid we win, being less excited about it.

When you charge a premium price you expect a premium product, and we haven't had that in a while. A fair amount of the expensive lower bowl seats and luxury boxes are likely corporate, so it's going to be a challenge getting a lot of them to renew. Add in the disgruntled individual season ticket holders and I can see a fairly large number deciding not to re-up.

Sponsorship dollars may start to dry up as well.

If Travis Steele returns and Greg Christopher continues to allow Steele to deliver his garbage another season… you might be going to the Rumpke Waste & Recycling Center formally known as the Cintas Center.

That's what I've been saying. People are worried about the financial hit from the buyout. I would be concerned about financial ramifications of not ending the Travisty.

How about a trip to New York for a NIT Championship? You can hang out with St. Bonaventure fans munching on Olestra chips.

Crazy in DC. Ewing got another year to coach after 0-every game. Can you imagine that locker room?
