CINCINNATI --- The Xavier University Musketeers host the Georgetown University Hoyas on Saturday night in the regular season finale at 7 p.m. at Cintas Center. Saturday is Senior Night and Xavier will honor five senior players (Nate Johnson and Paul Scruggs, and walk-ons Spencer Cody, Ramon Singh and Zak Swetye) and four senior managers (Evan Beretta, Andrew Lieb, Brendan Ross and Jack Westendorf) in pregame ceremonies. Fans are being asked to be in their seats for the pregame festivities at 6:40 p.m.

Xavier, 17-12 overall and 7-11 in the BIG EAST Conference, will only play Georgetown once in this regular season. XU's Jan. 4 game vs. GU in Washington was cancelled due to Covid-related issues in the Hoyas' program. Georgetown is the only BIG EAST team that Xavier will not play twice.

Anyone else feel extremely conflicted on how they want this game to turn out? I'm sure when the game starts, I'll be rooting hard for them to win, but a loss may put the final nail in this staff. Never thought there would be a day where im this conflicted about a xavier game

For college ball, and the Muskies, I hope no fan is there cheering for our team to lose just to be a catalyst for a coaching change.
Also, I hope there is no booing of the players or coach.
I can't imagine how heartbreaking that would be for the seniors (and the rest of the team) to go out on their last home game with that memory.

I'll be cheering for the team to win, I'll be hoping it happens, and that we put together a good showing in the BE tourney, and hopefully beyond.
The coaching question should be separate from all that.

Just to be clear, not openly rooting for them to lose..just more of a I won’t be that disappointed if they do, because maybe then x can hire someone that knows what they are doing.

Lots of coaches got away from the suits after Covid hit the fan. They're slowly starting to phase them back in, but Kevin Willard is the only coach in the Big East that's completely returned to the suit-and-tie ensemble so far.

Agreed, Everyone should support these student / athletes on their senior day. Only boos that I’d support, are for the dude’s wearing the stripes and blowing the whistles for any bad calls on the X. Okay, maybe a boo here and there for those popcorn eating assistant coaches not giving much help to Coach Steele during the game.

But I'm wondering if the big difference isn't his offense, it's his defense. Again it's GT and I refuse to get overly excited about a 22 point win that really should have been 32. Do you know how bad Xavier is? These guys needed confidence and they got it. They found their shot again. X doesn't need two wins. They just need 1 and they are in. It may be the PIG but they are in with a win. Won't be easy . Two wins will guarantee them a Thursday Friday game.

I had the same thought. Georgetown is a sleeping giant. Not sure they are ready to let Ewing go, but Sean Miller would wake it quickly.

I have to assume Stanley and miles were injured. I did not see Stanley in the senior day activities either. He did play against Seton Hall but not St Johns. Miles has not played since less than 1 min at Uconn. We shall see what happens next year as I had hopes that either or both would contribute.
