CINCINNATI --- The Xavier University Musketeers, 17-11 overall and 7-10 in the BIG EAST Conference, visit the St. John's University Red Storm, 15-13 overall and 7-10 in the BIG EAST, on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. This will be XU's final regular season road game.

Xavier is shooting to snap a four-game losing streak that started with the first St. John's game on Feb. 16. Senior guard Nate Johnson, one of the BIG EAST's top 3-point shooters, has not played since the win over UConn on Feb. 11 but returned to practice this week.

Exactly, but Steele is clueless, so there’s that. The way to beat a team like St. John’s especially when you are less athletic at every position is to slow to a snail pace, pound it inside and frustrate them. Get out to a lead, slow it down and take care of the ball—-game over.

Not only the fact that you mentioned that they can't guard anyone, but the ego play that he's "against" zone. Every coach throws in different defenses to throw off their opponents. More stubbornness fueled by ego.

I think the most effective way to coach is to take away the other teams best weapon. No matter how you have to do it. Changing your defense, so be it, box and one, do it. Stopping the other team's best player makes his teammates uncomfortable.

Agree. Xavier really can’t get out of the 60’s no matter how they play, unless they go to three overtimes so will need to control tempo or they will get beat by 10+. Good ball movement, take good shots and no Curly Neal shows on offense.

I have unfortunately reached the point where I'm not even recording games if I know I'm going to miss some or all of it live. No longer can I get excited for November/December results because the teams continue to piss down their leg in February/March.

It's all about the tournament. If we happen to find our way in, I think we can all assume that everyone will once again be excited.

I love the BET games and any tournaments games because they truly mean something (unless you're already a lock, which we're not).

I know if we get in, the excitement will be there for me when they tip the ball in the first round of the NCAA.

If they don't make it, we've kind of reached a norm, haven't we? 4 years in a row? That SUCKS - I understand the apathy if we consistently don't make the tournament. What's the point then?

If we don't make the tournament, and also don't make any moves or changes to rectify a very, very average 4 years, why would I continue to invest my money in the program? I'll continue to watch games and root for them, but I'd have a serious consideration for not renewing my tickets.

Kunkel has a VERY short term memory which is sometimes good but tonight I really wish he remembered how off and out of sync he was so he might actually just stop. Honestly this would have been a game at the end if not for stupid shots/decisions by him (mostly) and Scruggs and yeah Hunter.

Regardless of who stays and who leaves, you have to start developing the young guys earlier in the year. If they're a highly rated recruit, and they don't redshirt, you cannot plant them on the bench all year. You have to pick and choose opportunities for them to get meaningful action.
