Power has been out for hours due to the Ice Storm, so thought I would tap out some thoughts kicking around in my head. Someone mentioned in another thread, that Steele's recruiting is slightly overrated because of some retention problems. Let's take a look.

Wilcher/Nebraska- Was a starter early on, but now just a shooting role player on a terrible team. Has had some moments.

Bishop/St Joe- 2nd year for the Hawks. Never really planned out. Has never really contributed much on a bad A10 team.

Ramsey/TNTC- Seems injury free. Has put up respectable numbers in nearly every game. Netted 18 vs Belmont.

Kennedy/UTEP- Has started every game for the Miners in his 2nd year. 30+ mpg and one of their featured scorers. Was smoking hot in late December, but hasn't played since. Injury?

James/Howard U- Was killing it for Jacksonville last year. 17+ ppg w/55 triples at 36% clip. He is now rostered at Howard, but has seen zero minutes. Anyone know why? I can not find jack.

It is a bit strange that both of Mack's last recruits that Steele inherited may have panned out, given more patience. I don't know what that says, if anything. But, no doubt that a big physical guy like James, with scoring numbers like that, would be really nice to have.

I looked everywhere online trying to find out where James went after Jacksonville. Good find. NExt year. X will not have a scoring guard that we have felt strongly about. Hope Craft can blow away expectations.

I looked at Howard's roster but I do not see James.

Colby Jones isn't going to be a scoring guard? I see him featured a bunch more next year. I really like Kunkel too. i think he can average 10-12 PPG and replace Johnson's numbers easily. Plus he multi dimensional.

He definitely transfered there and he is rostered on the ESPN site. Of course they can't get there head out of their ass' when it comes to CBB.

I guess I never considered Jones as a shooting guard. He probably will do a lot of scoring outside of Freemantle and Nunge.
X will need Kunkel to be a tad more consistent from 3.
Craft's specialty I hope is scoring from everywhere. I bet his development is improving playing this year for that prep academy in the south.

On Kennedy’s foot injury

Golding termed mid-to-late February as a "best-case scenario" for Kennedy's return to the floor, so it certainly sounds like an even longer absence is on the table. The sophomore played a big part for the Miners on both ends of the floor through the first 12 games, racking up 13.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 2.2 steals per game, but the team, which has gone just 4-3 since he went down, will need to soldier on without him for the foreseeable future.

Kunkel is never going to be consistent from 3. The rotation on his shot is horrible and he sways left and right quite a bit. This is his 4th year in college, he is what he is at this point—a good role player who can get hit from time to time and alway does give great effort.

james and stanley both could have taken minutes from Carter and i think that would have helped us, them, and even Carter but was not meant to be due to injury(Stanley and he played 2 good games last year in limited minutes) and God knows what (James who was put in to throw a full court pass at end of big East loss to Depaul in 2000!). Bishop helped win the game against UConn at Charlotte in Nov 2019. Keonte Kennedy hardly remember but must be good. One man's trash is anothers treasure. Wischer was not Carter..that is all i remember Wish them all well
