I imagine there will be transfers from this year's current roster. We know the 3 frosh signed and will join next year.
Here are the positions and candidates for playing time next year
PG- Odom, Claude
SG-Kunkel, Craft, Tandy
SF- Jones, Stanley, Ward
PF Freemantle, Edwards, Tucker, Hunter
C - Nunge, Miles.
That is 14 scholarship players. Maybe Hunter, Tandy, or Miles transfers.
Odom is athletic and fast but is not a 3 point threat.
It is likely that Steele will add one transfer.
Outside of frosh Craft and returner Kunkel, X would need some 3 point shooters.
If you have to add one awesome impact transfer, where is the biggest need?
Best thing about Ward and Craft is they are athletically long, play defense, and rebound.

I'm not convinced that Nate Johnson's college career will be over...maybe the NCAA will give him an 8th season to make up for some of the past transgressions against us

I think Tandy and Stanley are my guess on players not returning.
We need a physical presence in the post IMHO

Who?
I agree, and I agree.

Well first and foremost a shot blocker, defender, rebounder are all situations where we have needed someone in that role the past few years
I feel like we have enough scorers.........
So yes an athletic big man with some size would be my preference

Scruggs and Johnson are out. You imagine Odom, Jones, or the 3 frosh picking up their scoring? Or Freemantle and Nunge?

Not for nothing, but isn't Edwards supposed to be making big strides? And he's a pretty physical player according to Steele

3 of those guys are starters and Nate and Scruggs aren't big scorers. The frosh will help and you have to think with Odom getting more minutes his production will pick up some

They are the 2nd and 3rd leading scorers on our team. Define big scorers however you want but I don't think I would ever say we have enough scorers.
I definitely agree we would need another big guy unless the guys we have are ready for major jumps which they may be.
I think PG is our biggest need by far for next year. Hopefully we get a solid transfer.

Edwards didn't hurt his stock in NYC for NIT tourney.

This team is deep and has a bunch of different scoring options. Some guys are being under utilized IMHO. You lose players every year. Potentially returning 70% of your scoring is a luxury. You have 3 highly ranked frosh coming in. Edwards and Tucker should help too.

Does the need for a "banger" mean that we should give up on Miles? I recall hearing how athletic he is but haven't seen much of that in the few minutes he has played. His body has filled out a bit. Four years in I expected more of a return on the investment in him.
I haven't seen enough of Edwards to feel good about his contribution next year.

Well it seemed like XUKeith was saying we don’t need another 7 foot un-Athletic big that isn’t a banger. All I’m saying is I’d be thrilled at getting a Nunge player ever year.
As for Miles. He appeared to me to be a project recruit. He is tall, his body is starting to fill out. Toss up if it ever works out . But he seems a little goofy out there. I think a lot of people want him to be good and get time so they overlook a lot. Keep him on board, see what he can bring next year after another off season. But he sure hasn’t given a reason to not look at a transfer big. It’s not for a lack of effort, he does work really hard when he is on the court.
I will say it makes me uncomfortable bashing players like him. I am sure he is working his ass off year round and it isn’t easy when you don’t get playing time. Plus there is a good chance he reads the message board. Hope I’m wrong and he is a solid contributor next year.

Dieonte Miles should look to Jason Love and James Farr. He has a bright future over four years at Xavier.

It seems to me most people want Miles to work out and not criticizing his desire or work ethic. It would be good for him and good for X for him if he Jason Love'd or Jamie Farr'd on us. He just isn't contributing so far, even as much as they did early on. I don't think Miles would disagree with that.
I've seen momentary flashes. It's obvious he is not totally without skills. Looking back at the Spain trip, albeit against questionable competition, it's not like he can't play at all. I would in no way write him off. As mentioned, he may just be a late bloomer like other Bigs.
We love you Miles.
