What does this mean? Assuming they don't want you to bring the actual physical test. A screenshot of a negative at home test will work?
I believe it has to be a proctored at home test. So a report is issued by the company proctoring it. Attached is a link to one of the companies that do them https://store.optum.com/shop/products/abbott-binaxNOW-COVID-19-ag-at-home-test-kit-2-pack/

They are home tests but it has to be proctored with the official documentation. Aronoff is the same from what I understand.

Otherwise you'd what, just take a picture off google of a negative test? The press release says your name needs to be on it.

The public libraries in Cincinnati have the tests that you can proctor online. They are free but only at the libraries with drive thrus. Also they go fast, within minutes or hours of the library opening. Or at least they were a couple weeks ago.

How long are these lines going to be to check this documentation? I have a feeling I am going to go through all of this trouble to get a negative test result document just for some ticket person at the Cintas to not even look at it tonight.

As long as people are aware of it, it really doesn't add any more time than the beer vendor checking your ID. The delays will be caused by people not pulling out their ID and card (or picture of the card) ahead of time and waiting until they are at the door to fumble through their wallet, or people arguing with the person checking because they didn't bring proof of vaccination.

Well aware you didn't create the policy, so maybe just yelling into the clouds here...

Imagine a virus going around that vaccinated and unvaccinated people can spread. But we're only forcing unvaccinated people to show proof of a negative test.

Seriously, imagine being told that a couple years ago.

Would be nice if they did, but from a LEGAL standpoint I’m gonna guess that the lawyers are not going to let that happen. In a way, I’m OK with that because I don’t want to see X have to go through expensive lawsuits that often don’t fix anything and only put money into lawyers pockets. I applaud that they are being proactive and are not waiting until something does happen to enact a policy that means nothing. They are protecting the university’s rear end and it’s assets. Doesn’t mean I have to like it personally, but I certainly understand why they are doing it. If it pisses off a few people, so what? IMO that’s better than not pissing anyone off by a policy such as this and then having a class action suit possibly placed against them for negligence. It’s a business decision.

We need to view X (and any other school, especially private ones) as a business. As a business they have a responsibility to the bottom line and to protecting their assets. Enacting policies that limit their own legal risk are necessary and important. I see little difference (from that standpoint) between the new policy requiring vaccinations or negative tests at basketball games, and any other policy enacted in the name of “safety”. These rules don’t matter to people that don’t want to follow them and may not stop anything from happening, but in both cases they reduce the legal risk of lawsuits that the university might face if something does happen.

The large events that I and the club I head up put on, are motorcycle related. We require anyone attending them to sign a waiver. It won’t stop anyone from doing stupid things, but it does give us (the club and it’s officers) a certain level of legal protection. We can still be sued, but lawyers tell us (and case histories back it up) that a carefully worded waiver signed by the person suing, will protect us from judgements against us…..as long as we are careful not to be negligent in our responsibilities to host safe events. X is doing its best to put on a safe event. Personally, I feel that anyone that would right now host a large indoor event and would not require the things that X is requiring, could be considered negligent in their responsibilities. But even if they require them and don’t enforce those requirements, they could still be considered negligent. In fact, if they make them a part of the requirements to attend and therefore are acknowledging that they are necessary, and then don’t enforce it…..they could be possibly even more likely to be sued and found negligent.

Very interested to know how you would recommend Cintas enforce the mask mandate once seated?

IsnÂ’t the biggest problem that the health care system canÂ’t cope with the amount of people being hospitalized by this virus? One of my friends was suppose to have surgery in late December which got rescheduled to late January which has now been rescheduled again to March because of Covid. Friends that I have in the ER say that they are having to not accept patients because they are full with Covid patients (mostly unvaccinated or people with underlying health issues).

Good try at regurgitating something you heard on CNN, but per the official Ohio dashboard (updated 1/11/21) 16.1% of total beds are empty.

The reason they're turning away patients, if that's even true, is probably because of the ridiculous policy that resulted in nurses with natural immunity being fired.

It’s impossible to do so. However, they could TRY to enforce it in the concourses. But who wants that hassle? I’m sure the people running the security don’t want to do it. They could have ushers say something to the people in the seats, but let’s face it, they are mostly just old men wanting to watch the games and pick up a few extra bucks. They aren’t going to want to do it either. I think that any judge worth anything will realize that it can’t be enforced in situations like this and must be on an honor system only. However, that’s not going to stop some other CUSTOMERS from trying. And that’s where the real problems are going to come from.

My PERSONAL opinion is that we would all be better off if the people that don’t want to follow the rules would just not come. But I also realize that isn’t going to be the case either. So I will go, I’ll follow the rules and in sometimes even take more precautions than dictated, and let others do their own thing.

Just got back from the Cotton Bowl. There were no rules for it. No mask mandates, no vax requirements. No testing requirements. I wore my mask when I was out of my seat, entering and leaving the stadium. So did my wife and friends. 99% of the crowd didn’t. We got home last Wednesday feeling fine. By Friday we were both congested, lots of sinus pressure and pain, runny noses and cough.

My wife and I both tested positive for Covid last Saturday. I can’t say I picked up it at the stadium for sure. We were gone for a week and could have been exposed almost anytime during the trip. Some of the people we were with are positive, others are not. It’s a crapshoot.

Knowing what I know now, I’d still go. I’d just have kept my mask on more while in bars and restaurants, etc. We can’t eliminate the risk entirely no matter what we do. These actions are designed to LIMIT the risk, no more and no less.

Here is what the release says:

"All guests age 12 and older entering the Cintas Center will be required to show proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or a negative test result within 72 hours of entry. Fans 18 and older should be prepared to show a picture ID to verify ownership of the vaccination card or negative test."

I think anyone who goes with a picture of some random negative test and not a picture of actual documentation of the test like those certain home kits provide is going to be in for a rude awakening. I could be wrong and maybe whoever is checking won't give a crap but then that would go to prove many's point this is all just for show.

I think the vast majority will have vaccine cards (or pictures of them) they are showing anyway but I'll be curious to hear how it goes, since I wont be able to attend now.

The only issue I have is that Xavier put out policy for optics. They know it will not be fully enforced, that a negative test doesn’t mean anything, that people may have COVID and still be at the game, people will generally not wear masks and that it won’t stop the spread. Just made it into the TAS. The line went pretty smoothly except for a couple of fans who were angry about being turned away for not having the correct Documentation. Felt bad for the ushers who had to put up with them being rude. The energy inside the Cintas is electric. Let’s go X!

Not to beat a dead horse, but...

A guy looked at my vax card for 0.4 seconds in the dark, didn't check my ID at all, I didn't wear a mask at entry, and I didn't wear a mask the entire game.

Again, wtf is the point?

In some places you may be sued, but I think it’s close to ZERO percent chance you can lose. You can’t prove where you got it, and you went there of your own free will. Even idiotic Georgia has a statute that you have no legal claim, so be aware and don’t even try. Signs outside most office and retail establishments.

So what? Nice wise ass answer. Please cite all the successful lawsuits. Or even attempted lawsuits. Nobody can be safe, everybody will probably get it at some point (at least once) and the employees may have gotten it at the grocery store or the dog park. Get over yourself. The employees have the option of working, or not, at Cintas. Maybe they can work inside a bubble somewhere else.

Exactly - what's the point of controlling contacts at Cintas when prior to Cintas and after Cintas there is ZERO control over who people are in contact with. It's an impossible situation to control - why even try to? It's beyond stupid. The "rules" of the last two years have been the most bizarre set of circumstances that have ever existed in the history of humanity. Anyone that actually listens and complies is a straight up moron.

People are trying to control a completely uncontrollable situation.

Check out the link I posted, and that was about 5 months ago, it’s only increased. Get over myself? This is real life where people sue for anything and everything. There are a lot of protocols in our lives that are a joke. That never stopped them from being enacted. There are a lot of mandates that aren’t enforced. Yet they still exist. You want 100% enforcement of ANY protocol, mandate, rule, regulation, law, etc? You’re not going to find it.

I agree, get those fences out of the plaza before dumping 10,000 out into it. They have plenty of time to reset them for the next game

Also there is no way she actually saw my vac card - I had it up on my phone screen but she barely even glanced at it, much less compare names to an ID.

Masks went about as well as in November.

Because nothing was being proven maybe.

The first time, the person glanced at my vax card for 0.2 seconds and waved me in. No ID check.

The second time, the person glanced at my vax card and waved me in. Then said, "oh wait, you need an ID to get in too" - then glanced at my ID for 0.2 seconds. Every ounce of my body wanted to stop and explain that the vax card needed to match the ID - and it would require you to look at both, but I didn't have the heart. This person legit had no idea of the connection between the name on the vax card and the name on the ID.

He literally thought an ID was required to enter (like a bar). It was the most non-sensical protocol in this whole mess, and that's saying something.

"Proof" of vaccine - that's hilarious.

Guess it really depends on what time you get there and the mass of people coming in. I usually get down there early, but boy do they study both…

Kinda like the metal detector when they’re trying to move a mass of people the rules get rather laxed. As we all know they are trying to keep people moving and happy.

Well this was about 30 minutes before tip on both occasions and not much of a line to enter.

When I went to the Providence game, I walking past the side east entrance on my way to the front entrance. The lady at the side entrance was yelling at everyone approaching to have their Vax card and ID's out, she seemed like she would be checking closely. The person at the front when I got there barely looked at my pic of my card and did not ask for ID.

My guess is it all depended on the person you got.

Serious question though. How could you understand another person's thought process? Perhaps some people based on principles don't like BS rules and how Xavier has become. I know several alums who are completely done with Xavier over the handling of many things over the past couple years. Becoming the first arena in Ohio to require vax cards or negative test in Ohio when the State does not require it is extreme. Additionally if you were not vaccinated at certain points I have had friends and work colleagues have to wait hours or schedule appointments days out to get tests. It was not easy in January to get an easy test. That's a bit more than a 30 second inconvenience. Before dismissing another viewpoint, maybe try understanding it first.

Dismissing my point by trying to knock down principle people. I know people who stand by their principles and beliefs and are great fun at parties. Having the ability to be a leader and stand by what you believe regardless of consequences is a great quality that many possess. These types of people are also usually very caring and loyal. Stereotyping them into one category about not being fun at parties is dismissive and ignorant.

Did OSU close all the concession stands or was it some of them similar to how Great American Ballpark will close some in upper level when attendance is low. OSU also has low attendance for some games and only sells out for the bigger games usually.

I think masks make sense, but only if you actually enforce them.

I don't think vaccination status matters like it maybe once did (in terms of if the goal for a business is to stop the spread), especially for omicron. Testing would make sense is some situations but only in the moment which is almost impossible to do. Who gives a shit if 3 days ago you were negative, its useless.

I fully support the right for a private business to make whatever choices about it they want though. If I don't agree I wont go as is my right.

Did I think the rules were stupid? Yeah but a private business can do whatever they want and I absolutely believe that a big part of their intention was cya. I just find it odd that some (some here that admitted) they took a school out of their will and will stop purchasing tickets all because of something that everyone is trying to do what is best and for something that occurred for less than a month.

I just compare it to not supporting a musical artist or watch a movie or a restaurant because of their politics or one single issue or aspect of their lives. I’d rarely ever be able to watch a tv show, movie or go to a restaurant if that is the way I felt because most of Hollywood’s views on anything I rarely agree with lol.

“cloth and surgical masks do absolutely nothing for protection from ambient virus.”
“all this song and dance of wearing cloth masks with some presumption that you’re being protected from ambient virus is completely and positively 100% counter to how masks and respirators work.”

This is where I stand. I think Vaccine mandates in most instances really start to fall apart when they don't keep people from getting infected / spreading the virus. Yes, you could argue that high vaccination rates reduce the burden on our medical system, but I just don't think you are ever going to win that battle. The people that haven't been vaccinated at this point are probably never going to do it. They will lose their jobs first.

I'm not sure on masks, but tend to think that the current data points to limited efficacy. I don't mind wearing them if asked to, but I'm fine taking it off or if others don't want to wear them.

I can't speak to that, but things certainly have changed, which means that information and guidance changed. I tend to believe that the initial data on masks suggested that they were at least reasonably effective (no, I don't want to re-hash that debate). The new data with Omicron seems to suggest that masks are no longer effective. Properly fitted N95's probably work well, but I don't really think that's a practical option for most people in most situations so I don't think it's worth discussing as a widespread solution.

So I think the point we are kind of at is that you can get a vaccine if you want. Wear a mask if you want. If you really want to protect yourself, or are particularly at risk, wear an N95. It doesn't sound like any of the broad 'greater good' arguments for masks or vaccines are holding up to the Omicron variant particularly well.

Maybe that means we can all stop arguing about it (at least for a little while).

Here's the link to the article quoted above. If you read the article, while it notes cloth masks particularly are a problem for filtering the air, it goes to quite some length to explain how effective N95 masks are on doing exactly that.

Wait, are you saying someone on this board posted alternative facts by not telling the rest of the story? Shocking! For the life of me(pun intended), I’ll never understand why anyone isn’t willing to wear a surgical or N95 mask for a couple of hours if for no other reason than that article states “as a courtesy to others”. From day one, I’ve worn a mask when indoors. My feeling was it was the very least I could do, not for myself, but for others. Kind of like all for one and one for all. I wish X would have closed concessions like osu, but the economic reality is they need the income from concessions.
