Jack Nunge, Xavier, C, Jr. – Coming off the bench against Cincinnati in the Crosstown Shootout, Nunge recorded career highs of 31 points and 15 rebounds in an 83-63 victory. He scored 11 of the first 13 points in the second half to help Xavier gain control of the game. Nunge shot 9-of-14 from the field. Earlier in the week, he had nine points in a 96-50 win over Ball State.

NEW YORK – Xavier guard Dwon Odom has been named BIG EAST Player of the Week and Creighton guard Ryan Nembhard has been tabbed BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Odom was the leader in Xavier’s league win against Marquette and Nemhard helped the Bluejays to a conference victory against ninth-ranked Villanova.

Dwon Odom, Xavier, G, So. – Odom scored a game-high 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting from the field in Xavier’s 80-71 win against Marquette. He also had three steals. Odom’s scoring total was also a career high and came in only 21 minutes of playing time. Earlier in the week, the sophomore had six points and six assists in an 86-63 win against Morehead State.

Xavier senior Adam Kunkel earned a spot on the BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll for the second time this season after scoring with 25 points, one shy of his Xavier career high, on 8-12 shooting in the win at Butler on Saturday. Kunkel also won the award on Nov. 22 after averaging 18.0 ppg in wins over Ohio State on Nov. 18 and Norfolk State on Nov. 21.

Xavier University sophomore Colby Jones has been named to the BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll for his efforts in games vs. Villanova and Creighton this past week. Jones averaged 11.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.0 blocks and 1.0 steals for the week. He led XU with 16 points to go with nine rebounds in the Creighton win on Saturday.

Xavier University junior Jack Nunge has been named to the BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll for his efforts in games this past week against Providence on Wednesday and at Creighton on Saturday. Nunge averaged 15.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game for the week, while shooting 66.7 percent (12-18) from the field, including 66.7 percent (6-9) from 3-point range.

Nunge scored all 16 of his points at Creighton during XU's second-half comeback, hitting 6-7 from the field, including 4-5 from 3-point range, after intermission. He also grabbed eight rebounds in XU's 74-64 victory. Nunge contributed 15 points, nine rebounds and three blocks in the 65-62 loss to then-No. 17 Providence.

This is the second BIG EAST award for Nunge, who was named BIG EAST Player of the Week on Dec. 13. Xavier has had a player honored in nine of the first 11 weeks of the league awards, including two Player of the Week selections and seven Honor Roll selections.

Xavier University junior Jack Nunge has been named to the BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll for his efforts in games at Seton Hall on Feb. 9 and vs. UConn on Feb. 11. Nunge averaged 22.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.0 steals for Xavier's two games this past week, shooting 65.2 percent (15-23) from the field, including 45.5 percent (5-11) from 3-point range.

This is the third time that Nunge has earned a BIG EAST weekly honor this season, including his second time on the Honor Roll.


Nunge leads the team in scoring at 13.1 ppg. and in blocks at 1.5 bpg. He is second on the team in rebounding at 7.2 rpg.

Xavier senior Zach Freemantle has been named to the first weekly BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll of the season. Freemantle averaged 16.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.5 blocks and 2.0 steals in two Xavier wins, while shooting 68.4 percent (13-19) from the field.

Freemantle scored 14 points in the Morgan State win on Nov. 7 and a game-high 18 points in the Montana win on Nov. 11.

Xavier senior Zach Freemantle earned the honor this week after averaging 15.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 1.5 blocks in two games. He had a triple-double with 15 points, 13 boards and 10 assists against Fairfield on Nov. 15 and tied for team-high scoring honors with 15 points vs. Indiana on Nov. 18. It marked the first triple-double by a Xavier player since Myles Davis had 11 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists vs. Providence at Cintas Center in the 2015-16 season (2-17-16). Only two other Xavier players have recorded a triple-double: 2003 National Player of the Year David West did it once and All-American Tu Holloway did it twice, the only XU player to date to record two triple-doubles.

Xavier University graduate student Souley Boum earned a spot on the Phil Knight Legacy All-Tournament Team after leading XU in scoring at 18.3 ppg. for the three games vs. Florida, No. 8 Duke and No. 6 Gonzaga. Boum is second on the team and 10th in the BIG EAST in both scoring at 15.9 ppg. and assists at 3.7 apg. Boum scored 22 vs. Florida on Nov. 24 and 23 vs. Duke on Nov. 25.

Junior Colby Jones was named to the BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll after averaging 18.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.3 steals per game for XU's three games at the Phil Knight Legacy. He leads XU in assists at 5.8 apg. (fifth in BIG EAST) to go with 15.7 ppg. (11th in BIG EAST). Jones scored a career-high 22 points vs. Florida on Nov. 24, while hitting a career-high four 3-pointers and connecting on 8-12 from the field overall. He matched his career high with 22 points vs. Gonzaga on Nov. 27.

Xavier University graduate student Souley Boum has earned a spot on the BIG EAST Conference Honor Roll after averaging a team-high 19.0 points in Xavier wins over Southeastern La. and West Virginia this past week. Boum added 3.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. In addition, he passed the 2,000-point mark for his collegiate career in the WVU game on Dec. 3.

Boum is the third Musketeer to earn a spot on the weekly BIG EAST Honor Roll this season, joining junior Colby Jones (Nov. 28) and senior Zach Freemantle (Nov. 14 and Nov. 21).

Boum has averaged a team-high 16.6 ppg., which ranks tied for sixth in the BIG EAST Conference. Boum, who has scored in double figures in eight of XU's nine games, including seven straight, is second on the team and 11th in the BIG EAST in assists (4.0 apg.). He is fifth in the BIG EAST in free-throw percentage at .870 (47-54).

Boum has averaged a team-high 17.0 ppg., which ranks fourth in the BIG EAST Conference. Boum, who has scored in double figures in nine of XU's 10 games, including eight straight, has led the team or tied for team-high scoring honors in six of his first 10 games as a Musketeer. In addition, Boum is second on the team and 11th in the BIG EAST in assists (3.9 apg.) and is fifth in the BIG EAST in free-throw percentage at .857 (54-63).

No. 18 Xavier has now had a player honored in each of the first eight weeks of BIG EAST awards this season. It's even more impressive that four different Musketeers have been honored at least once this season. This is Xavier's second BIG EAST Player of the Week in the last three weeks.

Xavier University senior Zach Freemantle has been named BIG EAST Conference Player of the Week after scoring a season-high 29 points, one shy of his career high, to go with 11 rebounds, four assists, one steal and no turnovers at Villanova on Jan. 7. He hit 12-17 from the field, including 2-2 3-pointers.

This is the fourth time that Freemantle has earned a BIG EAST weekly honor this season, having been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Nov. 14, Nov. 21 and Dec. 26.

Freemantle leads the team and is fourth in the BIG EAST in rebounding at 8.0 rpg. Freemantle, who also leads XU in field goal percentage and ranks seventh in the league at 60.1 percent, is now second on the team and 11th in the BIG EAST in scoring at 15.3 ppg. Freemantle leads the BIG EAST in scoring for BIG EAST games only at 19.8 ppg.

This marks the second-straight week that a Xavier player has earned BIG EAST Player of the Week. Graduate student Jack Nunge won the award on Jan. 2.

Boum averaged 21.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 6.5 assists and 1.0 steals for the two games, while only having one turnover in 74 minutes of action.

XU trailed at halftime of both games. Boum scored nine of Xavier's final 12 points against Marquette, including a 3-pointer and 4-4 from the free-throw line. He scored 17 of his game-high 26 points in the second half of the Creighton win.

Boum, who leads the BIG EAST in scoring at 17.6 ppg., also won BIG EAST Player of the Week on Dec. 19 and has been named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll twice, Dec. 5 and Dec. 12.

Boum is the third straight Musketeer to win BIG EAST Player of the Week. Graduate student Jack Nunge earned the award on Jan. 2 and senior Zach Freemantle earned it on Jan. 9. In fact, Xavier has either won BIG EAST Player of the Week or placed a player on the BIG EAST Honor Roll each of the 10 weeks of the league weekly awards this season.

Freemantle is second on the team and 10th in the BIG EAST in scoring at 15.4 ppg. He leads the team and is fourth in the BIG EAST in rebounding at 8.5 rpg.

Nunge had a game-high 23 points and a game-high 12 rebounds vs. Providence on Feb. 1 and a game-high 21 points with a Xavier career-high and collegiate career-high tying six assists vs. St. John's on Feb. 4.

Xavier has had an honoree in all 13 weeks of BIG EAST awards this season, including five BIG EAST Player of the Week winners and eight BIG EAST Honor Roll winners. Four different Xavier players have been honored at least once this season.

Boum averaged 20.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists in games vs. Villanova on Feb. 21 and at Seton Hall on Feb. 24. He shot 52.0 percent (13-25) from the field, including 52.9 percent (9-17) from 3-point range.

Quincy Olivari, Xavier, G, Gr. – Olivari averaged 33.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals in a 2-0 week. He poured in a collegiate career-high 43 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a 93-68 win at DePaul. The 43 points was the highest total in a BIG EAST game since DePaul’s Max Strus had 43 against St. John’s on March 3, 2019. In an 88-77 home win earlier in the week against St. John’s, Olivari had 23 points, seven rebounds and four steals. For the two games, he made 11-of-20 from 3-point range.

BIG EAST Player of the Week

Quincy Olivari, Xavier, G, Gr. – Olivari averaged 33.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals in a 2-0 week. He poured in a collegiate career-high 43 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a 93-68 win at DePaul. The 43 points was the highest total in a BIG EAST game since DePaul’s Max Strus had 43 against St. John’s on March 3, 2019. In an 88-77 home win earlier in the week against St. John’s, Olivari had 23 points, seven rebounds and four steals. For the two games, he made 11-of-20 from 3-point range.

Technically this would be the most since whomever scored MORE than 43, not the OTHER 43.

David West's 47 and 18 vs Dayton has to be the single best overall game in Xavier history given the magnitude of that one. I would think Q's 43 and 10 has to be a top 3 overall game in Xavier history though. Thomas scoring was amazing, but not sure he filled the stat sheet. Tre's vs UC was also up there and if we would have won that game right up near the top spot

For perspective, Oliveri's great showing becomes 36 without the line. Still a great game.

Ryan Conwell, Xavier, G, Jr. – Averaged 17.5 points, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals in a 2-0 week. Had only one turnover in a week that included wins over Jackson State (94-57) and Wake Forest (75-60).
