+140 ML, I hit it. Though we haven't looked like a well oiled machine by any means, Okie State lost to Wichita State the other day by 9 (Wichita State is still their typical pretty good this year it seems like), and also lost to Oakland by one, while beating Oral Roberts (who lost their best player) by one. I think they're hit or miss, they obviously don't have Cade Cunningham anymore, and don't really have an elite scorer that is gonna go off for 20 a game or anything like that, but 3 guys hovering around 10 ppg so more balanced. As a team shoot 29.6% from the three, and average around 74 ppg, I think if we have a decent day we could get a nice little road kill here.

A lot of good esp. rebounding. Too many TOs and they're just outshooting us 55% vs. 36%. They're making some tough shots, not all that disappointed in the D.
This is a game where lack of any sort of offensive system is a problem. They're aggressive and overplay. Need a lot of movement and screening and we'll get easier shots, or we can keep picking and popping out high (including the bigs) and get shitty shots. Only 3 assists on 12 baskets; that's very low.

I am not at all disappointed in Miles. He did exactly what we want him to do, play strong defense, rebound the ball and hit free throws.

Odom had zero assists and credit the style of play to the Cowboys.

Sruggs needs to stop stopping his dribble against the press and dribbling to sidelines.

Hunter had some rock solid defense and clutch blocks.
Not likely OSU will be a top 50 team BUT a huge road win is gained.

Love Nate playing well but not forcing it. Colby has one of the best motors I have seen in a while - always active and moving. Miles continues to give quality minutes and Nunge was a solid pickup.

Keep in mind that they had just lost to Baylor in the B12 Championship Game the day before in Dallas. A lot of people that would have attended today's game were sulking big time, with some of them possibly still hanging out in the Big D to drown their sorrows.

When one of our biggest problems with a game is the attendance of the other team's home fans, we may be on the right track.

I totally agree. Some bad shots are a product of good defense and not poor judgment. That’s why I separated those at the end of the shot clock. I do have an issue with bad shot selection with time left on the shot clock. If you’re closely guarded, pass the ball. You can always get a bad shot at the end of the shot clock, why take one when you have some time to get a better one ?
Today most of the bad shots in the second were not shot clock induced.

X out rebounded them by a bunch, made a bunch more free throws than OKST even tried, and played defense well enough that OKST shot only about 30% in the 2nd half. The switch to zone in the 2nd half almost completely shut the OKST offense down. Sure, X still takes some stupid shots, and they definitely need to work out the kinks in regards to breaking the press. But overall that’s a winning formula and that will turn out to be a pretty good road win.

Also regarding Hunter….that was one of the stupidest shots I can remember an X player taking. But according to the box score that was his ONLY 3 point attempt of the game. That’s progress! Think the coach told him to never take another one?

I’ll also point out that X took only 18 3-point shots in this game, made 6, and still scored 77 points. I hope they learn something from that.

Edit to add…..Freemantle got 19 minutes of playing time. The same number as Hunter. Jones, Johnson, and Scruggs had 32,31, and 30 respectively. I can see 28-30 for Free and 10-12 for Hunter in the future, with Nunge and Miles splitting time to, probably at 25/15 depending on foul trouble.

There was one sequence where OSU had the ball out of bounds and the ref let them switch the inbounder after he had already handed the the ball to them....WTF?? King McClure I had never heard of before last night. He was definitely not polished, but he was refreshingly honest nd blunt about the referees. I think he is only around 24 years old too, so he has room to grow.

He is already lightyears better than Dickey Simpkins. No one else can ever be labeled the worst while Dickey is still working.

Len Elmore and Stephen Bardo are pretty terrible too. I will take this McClure guy over all 3 of those guys.

Agreed. I typically can block them out fairly well, but I just ditched the TV volume and put on Byron/Joe. I RARELY do this because its such a pain to try and sync it up, but yesterday was one of those special kinda days

In fairness, I've been to public libraries with more atmosphere than that arena yesterday. Oklahoma State fans are apparently not too hyped for basketball.

The worst call might have been when the ref blew the whistle and said Nate’s foot was out of bounds as he stole the ball. Steele couldn’t believe it. The replay showed Nate’s foot was like a foot inside the line.

I've been kinda shocked with how well the team has played without a full-strength Freemantle. Nunge has been incredible and Hunter has been erratic offensively but has a good motor and his length helps on defense (he's an upgrade over Carter). I like the shortened rotation (even if it wasn't Kunkel's best game) and the team we've become.

Adding a preseason first-team all BE player to it should only be an upgrade, once we figure out rotation and offensive flow adjustments.

I liked King Mclure, not sure what the issue was.

Zero energy...horrible delivery and sounded like he had no interest in doing the game. That was my issue. I don't need Dickie V , but man at least pretend to be somewhat excited.
