With TX and OK leaving the Big 12 and Im reading that the Pac 12 and Big 12 may merge/ form a partnership what will happen to the ACC, Big 10 and SEC? What will become of the Big East? I know the above is football but this movement HAS to affect hoops as well. COULD the ACC and and Big 10 merge? IF the PAC12 and Big 12 do? Could the AAC and Big East merge, for hoops and non rev. sports? Would anotherr conference even want to merge with the Big East as it doesnt have football? Will UConn enter the ACC and bring back football just to join? Curious to hear others thoughts!

Why would the Big East want to merge with the AAC?

The Pac, Big, SEC and Acc will add to get to 16 each. The Big 12 will disappear. UConn will not revive football. College football is a non starter in New England. BIGEAST will stand pat or maybe add a team from the aac. Football is driving the bus, but networks s till need winter programming, so the BigEast will be fine. The elephant in the room ND, will either stay indy, or join the ACC. ND joining the BIG would not suit their far flung alumni base. The ACC has the most interesting group of schools.

ND will stay independent well into the future and perhaps in perpetuity and, especially, for joining B1G as you suggested. There is too much enmity between Notre Dame and Michigan. That MAY change at some point if they really fall off as a program, but that would be need to be a far fall and even then....

Their expressed identity is "Catholic, Private, Independent" along with "God, Country, Notre Dame"!

Uconn would pay a whopping 30 million exit fee from BE.

As said before ND will not join the B10. Too much history and bad blood there from the ND alumni.

Still believe (as an ND football fan :) ) they'd be a good fit in the Big East and stay Indy in football.

Agree with the last part esp. Hate the ACC deal for football - 5 games a year is almost 1/2 the season. Takes a bit of a bite out of the independence. Good for the rest of the sports but the BE would be a better. Unfortunately the ND/ACC deal has been extended to 2037. I might not live long enough to see that through.
