With the play of Edmund and Naj this year it is sad to think they BOTH could have played against FSU..Naj got hurt and only played 12 minutes and Edmund was in the G League. They were clearly our 2 best NBA prospects over the past 10 years. Just a thought and glad to see them playing so well. I dont remember Villanova (for example) missing any players during that time.. Again sour grapes I am well aware.

It may be sour grapes, but it is a fair point to make.
We can only hope that the stars align for Xavier at some point, such that we have no injuries - or at least critical personnel losses due to injuries - and that we run into some favorable match-ups and solid play on our part. It truly is a crap shoot that has to be approached and managed with solid players and coaching.

There's been a few times like this in history. A few that quickly jump to mind...
Can you imagine Derrick Brown on the 09-10 team that took K State to double OT???
James Posey and Darnell Williams both fully healthy and playing together?

Darnell’s injury is still one of my biggest disappointments as an X fan.

Yes, I was just taking a similar stroll down "what if" lane regarding Derrick Brown on the 09/10 team. They would have gone to the Final Four

I think losing Sumner the year before was the biggest missed opportunity. Sumner was averaging 15/5/4.3 with 1.3 steals and .8 blocks before getting injured in the 1st minute against DePaul. We were 18-6 after the DePaul game. Without Sumner, we lost 6 of 7 to finish the regular Season. We somehow went 2-1 in the BE Tourney, and then of course made the E8 run. I think that team could have finished much stronger and been a top 2-3 seed. That team had F4 potential to me....

I was a huge Sumner fan and thought the season was over when he went down. It pains me to say it, but I think that team found a higher ceiling without him.
Sumner had so much drive potential that the clear out became the default offensive set whenever they needed a hoop or the shot clock went to 10. Without him, the offense was forced to rely on working through the set. For example, Sean O’Mera really came on after Sumner went down. Seems strange that the C would benefit from the loss of the PG, but Sean was a guy who was extremely efficient in the right spots but relied on the offensive set to get him the ball in those spots.
Remember who took and made the game winning shot vs Arizona? Remember who forced a charge on a clear out seeking the game winning shot vs Wisconsin two years prior?

That was a bullshit charge call.

So was the one Chris Duhon drew on Chalmers in the 2004 E8.

I too can’t ever seem to let that one go.
Oh what could have been. Gotta wonder if he wished he had stayed. Might have been a lottery pick that next year.
Brown is definitely #1 on my all-time “If he had only stayed at X for one more season” list.

I don't think the league needed to see much more of him than they had already seen.
That said I'm surprised he didn't made it back to the NBA. Solid long defender with a 3-point shot.
