that is too bad but I recall he has a good academic background and should do fine. Funny these guys can't wait to move on and at 65 I am mad that covid killed my 60 and over run 3 times a week. We all know he should have played a little more..

Good God... Could this mean Carter is coming back?

I think we al know the answer to that - of course he is. Steele's buddy.

We had better hope that Dionte can play. Ben Stanley too although Ben is undersized at 6:6 (or smaller)
We have severe front line issues.

I think it's pretty obvious what Steele thinks of big men like Omara, Reynolds and Tyrique.
I also don't think he's looking to tweak his "new age" offense. He's going to roll with Carter and go out to find more stretch guys - wait and see.

Carter is not coming back. Maybe Steele will develop Miles and Edwards and let them play.

Strange - that’s exactly what I posted last year around this time.
It’s kind of hard to expect much from a guy who barely saw the floor this season. Is Travis finally going to reel in the type of big his team so desperately needed this year. What are the odds he lands someone a bit closer to Tyrique or Hankins or Jalen or Farr or O’Mara or Stainbrook or Grant or Hill or Strong - or even a more versatile big like Kanter or D Brown who can still bang?
I know it’s a pipe dreams to think that type of player will be available, but we had better get someone at least close to O’Mara’s level (very solid near the basket but not overly athletic) or it’s going to be another brutal year in the paint and likely another “below standard” season.

Has anyone heard anything about X being on a back to the basket big man in the transfer portal? All I've heard is guards.
Steele hates back to the basket guys.

Steele, quoted in Cincinnati.com article
“Zach's gotta put on 15 pounds, he needs to. But we also gotta get another physical piece up front, a guy who can embrace that toughness that you need around the rim. I think it is a hole in our roster."
It has been reported on 24/7 and on Twitter, that X has reached out to some traditional big type players that could be listed either as centers or power forwards.

Actually I think all the guys they have been mentioned with are all forwards, but the portal will really explode in a few weeks so best to take your time. They are interested in a forward from Pitt and Penn state as well as a big from a D2 school who seems super athletic and is nothing but an around the rim guy. Probably won’t hear much movement for awhile.

Does anyone know who they are? Usually this comes with some names, otherwise, it seems like "we tried, but we're just going to go with Carter".

Well I hope we actually get a good one that likes us back.

The back sure they will.

I saw something about them reaching out to a guy transferring out of Pitt, Toney - who is a pretty solid guard with some size (I’ve seen him play this past year and he was impressive enough to see why they would reach out to him, but that was all before Nate made the decision to come back - so maybe they are no longer perusing him.
As for bigs: I saw a few things about one who looks to have about the same build as Miles but can shoot form outside. I have not see anything about Steele going after specific bigs more like the previous X bigs I’ve mentioned above - physical beasts who are stoppers on defense and good shot blockers/rebounders/ finishers on offense - Though I sure hope for his sake and the sake of the team he is all over two or three of them and reels at least one in.
One would think there has to be someone out there - the challenge is that it looks like many other schools are in the same boat as X: In search of a good post player - while losing one two of their own via the portal- because just haven’t been big contributors (due to talent level or injury or maybe simply a lack of playing time). Schools like Vandy, Louisville, Pitt, Wake Forest come to mind.
There is a big from UC in the portal who might fit the bill of what we need. That would be an easy move. Just not sure if he is any better than Ramsey.

who is the D2 guy? That sounds kind of promising. Is he at least 6’9? Does he have some wight on his frame? I saw one guy they were supposedly interested in who looked thin as a rail- similar to Miles.

This guy would be a huge get, and what's needed for this team in this conference. Probably not a great chance as so many schools will want him, but let's see what we're made of.
