As noted by sgarcia on another thread, we have four seniors potentially leaving the program. Because of the COVID issues, the NCAA in October declared this would be a 'free year of eligibility for seniors'. Wondering if any of these four will return...

Graduating:
Scruggs
Johnson
Griffin
Carter - I feel he will come back for his free year and torture us all.

Carter is my least favorite option of the four, but he still help this team. Getting another year from any of the three others would be a boon.

Off Topic: I hope Steele does a lot of growing up this off season...

If I had to guess, I would say Scruggs and Johnson will not return. Think they will turn pro and make some money overseas. I would say Griffin and Carter will return for another year. Who knows though.

If Carter returns, he should only be allowed to return to Schmitt Memorial Fieldhouse.

Next year would be Carter’s 6th year playing college basketball. And I believe he will have his masters this year. I am sure he will be ready to move on.

If Carter returns we better retire his number on senior day like West. Especially if he announces his return in a similar fashion.

None of seniors will return. It is off to make an honest living for those 4 seniors. I only wish Johnson could come back with his bad foot and 3 point shot. Miles and Freemantle will each add 15-20 pounds of muscle.

It will be interesting to see how many seniors with next level abilities (whether NBA or overseas or G-league) take advantage of this. I would guess not many. I do know of one for sure. SLU's leading scorer is returning for an extra year. He is their 2nd best player, so I think he maybe wants to come back to show he can be the guy? He's better than all of our seniors except Scruggs but maybe has more legit next level potential than scruggs bc of his size 3 point shooting.

So what exactly is the rule?

ANYONE that wants to come back, and is welcome back, can come back?

Well they can but the coach has to offer a scholarship or they can pay their own way. Just didn’t lose any eligibility. This goes for all classes. So freshman still have 4 years and so on.

Should be a lot of seniors (not quite pro caliber) looking for a place to play next year.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Johnson came back, it also wouldn’t surprise me if he didn’t. Doubt any of the others come back.
