I know this is just emotional venting after watching another late season collapse, but right now I’m wondering if I can get a refund on the full payment I’ve already made towards next year’s season tickets.

I was just thinking about that. I know X isn’t getting rid of Steele (unfortunately). It’s still Xavier basketball but right now I just can’t see myself being pumped for another year of Steele. There isn’t exactly hope that next year is going to be better. Feel like the entire fan base will be headed into the season with the same thought: “I hope he can prove me wrong”.
Not exactly exciting or inspiring.

I would give it a few weeks and reconsider. Who knows what this team will look like at the start of next season.

If Travis is the HC I will not go to one game until he can prove that he has a clue. I know I should support the players and I will, just not with my wallet. If Travis does come back and shows that he can coach then I’ll buy season tickets again. Until then, Xavier will not see another dime from me. I’m sure they don’t care anyway. I had the cheap seats.

feels like a major rebuild, no proven go-to players, even worse outside shooting (especially if Tandy leaves), and still no center. We'll get some transfers and spend the first chunk of the season trying to figure out roles and rotations. Not exactly exciting stuff.

Not exactly exciting stuff.I'm looking forward to ohio legalizing fanduel sports book so I can bet on college sports. I already gave up rooting for the reds and Bengals and just root for individual players in DFS. Once college is legal I won't have to worry about my team letting me down any more.

Steele has been able to get some good transfers. And I really like the potential of those returners. With a couple of transfers, eligible immediately, we could have a great roaster.

I don’t see Miles leaving, but would be surprised if Tandy returns.
Roster needs an interior presence that can stand up to the size many teams in the BE have.
Team needs a new head coach to train them and lead them.

We are not going to be good. Stanley won't be close to fully recovered from his ACL. We have no shooters & no tough bigs. A great combo for success in a Power 5 league.

Wilcher and Kunk are both great shooters. Kunk had his struggles, but he’s still a great shooter. Free is also a pretty serviceable 3 shooter.
I’ll give you we have no tough bigs though. Hopefully free can continue to improve. His defense this year was dreadful.

Kunkel shot 26.6% from 3 this year with that terrible knuckleball that he throws up. Freemantle a paltry 32% and Wilcher shot a respectable 34.6%. You know who shot better than all of them? The guy who played 0 minutes, can create his own shot and is going to transfer.

Hard to argue against his percentage. That’s fair, but I think he can clearly shoot. He has great form and has shown flashes. I think we have 2- maybe 3 more years with him? Hell yes I’ll take that.
I don’t want either player to transfer, but if I had to pick, it would be Tandy. He just can’t play within the offense. Kunk can, and can create for others. Tandy ball is not what we want, imo. He has potential, but he will likely transfer to a school that lets him just throw up whatever he wants. It’s how he gets his points, but you have to live an die by his volume shooting. That’s not what we want here

Inexplicable.
It's an obvious "you're going to play my way or not at all" while also ignoring that he's lightning in a bottle and one of our best shooters.
He will land where a coach gives him more freedom and will shine. Watch.

He will rack up points. But the team won’t be great. It’s extremely difficult to win in college at a high level with a volume shooter like Tandy. IF he learns to play within the system, he could be very valuable.
Having said that, he could have given us a huge 3 minute burst in the second half. Missed opportunity by Steele who played to Hang on rather than go for the win.

Can you explain to me what our offense actually is? I'm curious because all I see every time down the court are a bunch of screens on the wing by a big that amount to nothing because WE DON'T HAVE SHOOTERS!
Maybe a big part of the problem is that the whole staff are recruiters. No teachers, no strategists, just recruiters. Kind of like giving all the sales guys at a car dealership tool kits and telling them to rebuild engines.

ACL’s are not like they used to be. Guys come back pretty quickly these days from those. I would imagine Stanley will be good by November. Probably take him some time to trust it but guys are coming back in like 8 months and playing these days.

Travis is going to continue to try and get transfers to fill the holes instead of guys that are already on the roster THAT HE RECRUITED. I totally understand that not all recruits pan out, but our sophomore class was highly touted and 3 of the 4 guys aren't playing even complimentary roles.
1. If I hear one more person tell me Miles is "a project", I'm going to implode. You cant recruit guys into THIS LEAGUE as projects, not play them at all in year two and then "HOPE" they get better. Spare me the BS please.
2. Tandy being all BE rookie team last year and you cant find a way to get the kid in line? BS.
3. We have WIDE gaping holes at SG and interior post/banger next year. I guess we will go out at try to fill in more holes with transfers........since that has worked out so well for Steele
You know who's recuing classes are ranked ahead of Xavier next year? About 50 other schools including DePaul, Creighton, Nova, Dayton and many others.
I just don't see it. Love the guy, but just don't see how another year of this is going to make a difference. I expect another great run through the non conference and around a .500 finish in BE play next year. Cant wait

The class rankings can be heavily weighted toward volume, especially if you aren't getting tip top guys. FWIW, believe Edwards is ranked higher than where Jones and Wilcher were last year and Tucker is right in that same neighborhood.

yeah, it feels like every year is the same thing, gotta work 5-6 new faces into the lineup, always hoping they find a way to gel quickly and everyone pans out. And the recruiting looks good on paper, but so far it's looking like only one worthwhile class out of his first 3 (especially if Tandy leaves). If he's a letdown as a coach and not absolutely crushing on the recruiting trail (he's not), then not sure what we hope out of another year.

I don’t know why you say one class. They have had 2 classes and 4 productive recruits in two years seem pretty solid. 5 if you include Tandy and Miles just needs a solid year in the weight room without interruptions. Now if you get some good stuff from the guys coming in that’s a good thing. As for transfers probably wouldn’t need much if Stanley wasn’t hurt. I think depending on who leaves you really need to take a look at bringing in one or two more guys. And Xavier is not going to be out of the norm with transfers coming in. There are a lot of programs that really are not even recruiting high school kids any longer. It’s the sign of the times. You can’t see kids play so you go after guys you can. Transfers.

Recruits are like first and second round draft picks.
Transfers are like waiver wire pick-ups.
Every now and then, your waiver wire pickup ends up being a complete stud; but most of the time, your bread and butter are your draft picks.
We can't compete in the Big East relying on transfers to fill starting minute holes. That's ridiculous to think we can be consistently successful that way.

If Tandy leaves, that would mean it's just Freemantle who contributed in a positive way. 1/5 is...not good. Next year's class is underwhelming, but maybe they'll be incredible and surprise us all.

They are rated about the same as wilcher and Jones. I will take similar production. One thing is for sure, both incoming guys are more athletic then what is currently in the program with the exception of Odom. That’s part of the problem. Xavier lack’s athleticism.

Right now it has nothing to do with where they are rated. It's more about roster composition and the new recruits do nothing to plug the holes.
If they were rated where Wilcher and Jones were and they were 6'10 250 and played center, I might be excited.

The new transfer rule will certainly make much more top talent available. If we lose a guy or 2, there will be better options available.
I live in UK country. Just about all my friends are serious Wildcat fans. There is a very legitimate rumor that Dontaie Allen will transfer and Xavier has been mentioned as a landing spot.....that would be HUGE!!

Why not ? Steele picked them. Buddies that he'd run into on the recruiting trail. Michigan was genius for hiring Martelli as asst. Has probably forgot more than all our assistants know.

this team would have some very good role players...no standouts. Scruggs got the focus of the other team's D and drew usually the best defender, we get a LOT easier to defend next year without a major transfer. But, maybe that would be appealing to a former high recruit, it's not like you're stepping into a total waste, and there's a big role/opportunity available.
Steele's biggest mistake was probably not replacing Tyrike. He has to find a transfer big, and a recruit big. The recruit can learn, while the transfer plays. And they both need to come in weighing 240-255. It's easier to lose weight and add muscle, than to add weight and muscle.
