nate Johnson out rest of the year according to Twitter..Honestly we will see how Tandy and Kunkel with do with major minutes and it will tell a lot about next year. We need to get something out of the 4 slot and lets hope that we rotate players in and out..and Zach stays out of foul trouble. This is a tough ask but stranger things have happened. I am at the point where I assume Colby will hold down the 3 slot. Zach has been stuffed TWICE by Ballock over the past 2 years and that can't happen today if we have a chance.

I thought some of the defensive pressure when Carter was not in was working very well.
Then a 9-0 run in 2 minutes when I think he came back in. There's a lesson there somewhere.

i could not be happier for everybody on senior night. Remember last year against Butler with Baldwin on senior night.. Just looked at box last year and Carter had 17! Man where did that go. Also Tandy 10. Shows how a year changes things. Griffin 4 points, Tandy 2 reb, CJ a 3. Carter a decent floor game. Odom incredible. Colby very solid, Zach a force and floater going, Scruggs magnificent(except the last play..but we will take it). 21 assists and 10 turnovers!I will sleep well tonight

Yes Odom is so athletic he can get his shot off at the rim anytime. He jumps higher than the bigs trying to block his shot. He is going to be money during his career getting in the lane and also finding the open man.

Yup- he does. Posted that exact thought after last game saying he need to be in 4/5 and out for 4/5 minutes to get the best out of him- any stretches longer and he either starts making big mistakes or gets exposed... and because he is not a scorer - we ae basically playing 4 on 5.

Yes - very good games by both and very promising for the future. You could just see the confidence from Scruggs spilling right into those two. Odom has stepped up and is 100% ready to take over and run the offense next year. Odom and Jones both had terrific blocks which you love to see from freshman- young ones being the bullies instead of being bullied.

Let’s go!!!!! Huge win. Huge senior night by scruggs. Almost everyone played well, we played really good D and looked really good offensively. Second best performance of the season after OU but maybe even better considering the weight of the game and what was riding on it. Everyone stepped up to the plate. And Colby and Dwon are going to be awesome.

For the first time in a while it looked like they had a plan on both sides of the ball. Even in the first half when Creighton erased a nine point lead it had a different feel. I thought two non calls on Odom drives were bad and I didn’t see guys just jacking up bad shots. Clock management was good for the most part, possessions didn’t seem to be a helter skelter. Now, the key is can this be repeated, it should be but the jury is still out on that. A friend of mine asked me after the game, “ are you back on the Travis train ?” My answer is not yet. Performances like this must become a constant. Saw some growth today , hope it continues.

If there are 0 fans or 10,000 it don't matter Xavier has a hard time winning on the road not sure why you can't comprehend this.

Well they did beat an awful Butler team on the road and an awful Cincy team on the road.

I agree that tonight was fantastic, but perhaps it was because the players executed everything the coaches threw at them.

I know everyone wants to blame the coaches, but often times, the players on the court decide the outcome of the game.

Zach seems to have found his sweet spot. Was getting pushed around for a while (Seton Hall, Creighton one, Marquette but now is getting points in the flow and clearing rebounds cleanly. Still not a defensive force but we can't afford him in foul trouble. Also 4 points by Griffin in a short time made a difference.

I don’t think you know as much as you think you know. Other than Scruggs, our best players out there were freshmen and sophomores. This team has a lot of room to improve. So does Steele. Given that they only got to practice a couple times over a crazy month, that doesn’t help them grow. But then, what do you care about the details?

You said they are “mentally weak”, which I find insulting. I said they are young. I’ll stick with my side of this. These young guys were all studs up to the introduction to BE basketball. I think most of these guys will grow into it. You are free to disagree.

I love dwon and have wanted him to get more minutes since day one. He does obviously need to improve from the perimeter but honestly I think just enough so defenders need to respect it. Otherwise he can be a killer getting the rim, hitting floaters and runners, and passing. He will have wilcher and Colby and (hopefully) kyky to kick it out to the next two years. You don’t need to be able to shoot the 3 from all positions and I’d love to have him develop his midrange and getting to the bucket game into a Tu or Jordan Crawford type game.

Odom is fine and a plus level defender. That is what this team needs. His two blocks down the stretch were game changers. CJ Anderson didn't shoot threes and we all know how that turned out.

I am sure it will get better but probably never above 30%. Crazier things have happened but that form is UGLY. The good thing is that he can finish and his jump stop elevation shot is probably unstoppable because he elevates so high you can’t block his shot. He can slice through the defense as fast as I have seen on his way to the rim. If he had a reliable three he would probably be a one and done type player and at Duke. Glad he is at Xavier. Seems like a great leader as well.

I think, for whatever reason, we are just a bad matchup for Creighton. Probably 2 of the Jays worst 3 pt shooting games all year. We came pretty close to winning the game in Omaha.

This is not implying that he is on the same level, but he reminds me a lot of Russell Westbrook in college. Similar results (Odom's freshman year is way better than Westbrook's freshman numbers, but not as good as his sophomore numbers). But overall style: athletic, slashing, driving, finishing with limited long range shooting. We'll see how he progresses, but yesterday's game certainly gives a hint as to what he could do during his time at X.

Yeah I would love for them to finally show up in the tourney. They have had some bad injury luck, Foster and Watson come to mind but plenty of other good teams that totally shit the bed.

X has had some of its best team crap the bed in the tourney but we've had lower seeded teams make big runs and it evens itself out. Creighton, not so much.
