Great job by Tom Eiser and staff celebrating 100 years of Xavier basketball this past year. It's now been 100 yrs since that traditional first game in the record books (shows up as a Feb 20 1920 loss 18-24 vs Dayton with coach Harry Gilligan).

A thought is that some of us have been fans of Xavier basketball for 40 or more years ... a large fraction of that 100 yr history.

Motivated by the 100 yr celebration and a desire to not give Dayton any credit for something it didn't deserve (and it was still called St. Mary's in 1920), I worked on a project to uncover more of the "Earliest History of Xavier Basketball". Since we don't play tomorrow, if you have 25 minutes or want to take a quick look, you can look at the video / project at the online Xavier archives (here (https://www.exhibit.xavier.edu/presentations/13)).

Great job and well done William! For some reason, I had a similar interest in Harry Gilligan last summer. Not only was his son Governor of Ohio, but his granddaughter (John’s daughter) was Kathleen Sebelius. As many will know, she is the former Governor of Kansas and was Obama’s HHS secretary. Quite the political lineage he left.
