The Ivy League has decided to not have winter sports at their member schools. Spring sports have been put on hold at least until Feburary and Fall sports will NOT have a spring season!

I'm not sure what to think about this, honestly. It seems kind of likely that indoor winter sports will be cancelled, but who knows?

if college basketball doesn't happen this year, I really don't know how that is going to work financially. Without diving deep into it, I would think college sports overall would be in deep doo doo

Ivy had no football either, they do not move the needle for college sports. Hoops will be played in two weeks time.

True it will be played in two weeks, I'm worried for 2-3 weeks after that. This isn't football where you can have 5-10 guys with covid, isolate them, and still play a game. Hopefully there is minimal disruption, and the season will be somewhat "normal."

Geesh the negativity. I still think they make it work. It will be interesting and look similar to CFB with some game cancellations and reschedules for sure. They need to forge ahead and do the best they can.

Such a shame. It wouldn't shock me if 1/2 of all universities shut done every sporting event. Universities are losing a ton of money with students are staying close to home.

Im also now reading that the CFP may now be cancelled or delayed and that the Big 12 commish is saying that he does NOT want to have the playoffs in February.

who cares what the big 12 commish thinks? They don't have to worry about being in the playoffs

I agree BUT he's on the committee.

SEC rules college football. They really arent going to give a crap what the big 12 commish thinks about anything committee or not.

Big opportunities for the Walk-ons this year?

The problem with basketball is that it is indoor. The good part of basketball is that you only have to worry about probably 20 total people (counting coaches and managers) vs. over 100 for a Football team. I'm not sure if this will go better or worse than Football.

I think there will be some semblance of a season. For what it's worth the NAIA is playing, and so far it's gone off mostly as scheduled. They aren't using bubbles or doing anything that D1 NCAA schools would not be able to do, and so far there have been no major health scares.

Not everyone will play (obviously). The Ivy has already bowed out, which kinda sucks. I do like watching the Ivy League. Other schools and conference may start to play, and then decide to quite before the year is over.

There are 357 schools. I'm betting that more than 280 play the season to the end even if they have games cancelled and rescheduled along the way. The NCAA Tournament will be a mess because I can't even imagine how you can fairly evaluate which teams to select and seed, but I'm guessing they do get a 68 team tournament together and that it's played at it scheduled places and times.

It will be different. A lot of what I like about college basketball won't be there this season. But, I think there will be a season. Sort of.

For anyone here that opted in for this season, has Xavier communicated anything yet?

My friend, who is a big donor and sits midcourt, hadn't heard anything as of Wednesday morning.

I was thinking the same thing...Isn't the first home game in 12 days? I assume something has to come out soon about fans attending

This is probably heresy, but, If all the fans were relegated to the upper deck, and suites, I think fans are doable. I know people who pay big money want to sit close, but the distance of the upper deck and suites keeping the players isolated from the fans, might work.

I opted in - got an email saying there are no season tickets this year. If fans are allowed to a game we can apply to buy games on a single game basis - based on Muskie points - and can be laid for our of the season ticket money already on deposit.

At some point we can get a refund, roll over to next season or they have even suggested just donating your ticket money to the school as they are hurting.

I opted in. Have not heard anything with respect to not playing. The latest which may have been posted elsewhere was if they do decide to have fans (which hasn't been decided yet), they will sell single game tickets with Musketeer point totals receiving priority. Money paid to date will used for any tickets purchased with options for your remaining balance (refund, credit towards next year, donate for discounts/perks)

Can't imagine that a lot of our whine & cheesers would agree to this. Having to sit in the upper bowl?!? What next? Having to use a urinal and drink a $5 can of Bud Light from the Norwood Café too??? I don't think so.

I’ve never heard of “having to use a urinal” as a social class determinant.

A friend of mine who opted in said he heard the same thing (I think from X). If there are fans allowed, which is a big if, tickets will be single game based on your Musketeer points. If true, unless you’re high up the points total, I don’t think you’ll be seeing any games in person.

what worries me is that this thread has no entries for over 2 days. I am in Conn and the Ivy League is dead. There is a Mohegan Sun bubble with UConn Vanderbilt and other but UConn has not practiced for 2 weeks as a player has Covid and they are quarantined. I just bought a seat cutout just so I can give the whole college hoop scene a positive vibe. I am retired at 65 but sub teach everyday in Bridgeport Ct (urban school district) with a mask, shield, distancing and while we have had a few cases people have come back in 2 weeks. Even though 65 I work out like a madman and have cardio and lung capacity of a 45 yr old so not worried.

No news is good news on this one - I get worried every time I see it at the top of the recent threads list!

I'm very excited for Xavier's team this year. Honestly think they could surprise some people. They have a really good mix of players and appear to play team ball. Making extra passes and stuff.

However, the way that the NCAA has set up the protocols for this season, I really don't see how we will have a season.

I am also encouraged by this group of players, but very concerned that we won’t get to see much of them.

If you’ve ever been to a Buffalo Bills home game, you know that the “high class people” use the urinals, and the class just below them is known to use the sinks.

Too much beer, too few urinals.

25%, max is 9150. On a side note, a friend of mine, who is a season ticket holder, told me they have to re pick their seats every year. Strange.

I would hate to see that happen....we have developed real friendships with people we have sat close to for many years. If we were moving every year those friendships probably would have never have developed.

I have heard that most lower bowl whine & cheesers prefer bidets and that there are mens room attendants (like Babs Kramer) too.

Urinals have definitely been an upgrade to the troughs for shoe protection.
