Pick the Score - Oakland
Two weeks until Xavier Basketball.
Ready for another season of Pick the Score?
Scoring Rules
Net the difference from the actual Xavier score and your predicted Xavier score.
Net the difference from the opponent score and your predicted opponent score.
Add these two numbers together and subtract from 100.
Award a 5 point bonus for picking the winning team.
Award a 25 point bonus for predicting both the winner and the exact score of the game.
Scoring Example
You pick Xavier to beat Oakland 74-52
Xavier wins 69-54
74-69 = 5 (Xavier component)
54-52 = 2 Oakland component)
5+2 = 7 (Sum both components)
100 – 7 = 93 (Subtract from 100)
93 + 5 (Add winning team bonus) = 98 (Your score)
Rule Change
If you fail to pick a score, you will receive the lowest reasonable total points earned by another entrant. This WILL apply for all games this season. I will go backwards.
A non-reasonable score entry will not be counted. A non-reasonable score is something like Xavier to win 155-2. This will be determined solely by me.
Tie Breaker: There is a tie breaker for each game. In the event that multiple entrants have the same score (which often occurs), the winner or winners will be determined by picking the closest score to the Xavier score. There can still be multiple winners but there will likely be fewer overall.
I will post a Top 10 recap for each game, Year-to Date totals for the entire season and a separate Big East total for conference opponents.
Note: It does say conference opponents. If in the unlikely event that Xavier was to play a Big East opponent in any tournament, that game will be counted in the Big East scoring.
All entries must be posted on the Xavier Hoops site by scheduled game time.
This contest is for amusement only and bragging rights.
