Dayton had a big man die a few years ago. 7 footer Steve McElvene died while home during the summer. Autopsy revealed a heart condition.

Usually if you hear about a younger athlete dying on the spot like that, it's due to the heart condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which often goes undiagnosed. Basically your heart just becomes thickened without an obvious cause, and it causes the heart to have to work harder to adequately pump blood. It's mainly a genetic thing, but man it's brutal and tough to catch. Says in the article this guy didn't have a heart condition, but man it's still completely awful to see. Prayers for the family, that guy had a whole life to live and it's awful to hear about.
