Does anyone know of a site that has full previous X NCAA Games to watch?
I believe there used to be an NCAA March Madness on Demand but looks like it's gone. Any help would be appreciated.

Btw I highly recommend the Xavier-Texas 2004 game. I dont think I realized just how ridiculously good doellman and cage were as freshmen.

ESPNU has been showing classic championship week games the past twenty four hours or so. They've been mostly ACC from what I saw, but it's something.

Watching the 2004 Xu-Texas full game on youtube...best part? No commercials.
Anyways a couple of things strike me.
We had amazing guard play with finn, chalmers and Sato (who was a g-f).
Doellman and cage were outstanding freshmen.
We screened and moved a ton on offense...that's one thing I would like to see from steele.

NCAA Vault was transferred to YouTube. However, that’s only Sweet 16 and beyond.
Been looking for 2004 Louisville/Mississippi State, 2008 Georgia/Purdue, 2009 Wisconsin and 2010 Minny/Pitt games for a long time
Edit: BTW, Chermy... you can see us in the student section a few times throughout the games in Atlanta. After a Chalmers break away layup and-1 vs Texas and after Finn’s buzzer beater first half 3 vs Duke, just to name a few.

This game always comes up in the best Xavier games thread. It's not the full game, but there are clips from the 2002 New Year's Eve game against Creighton. They come from a Creighton site, so the first one is just all the Creighton scoring plays, except Xavier's final basket. The second is the last three minutes of the game.

watching Wisconsin Michigan now..2017 the year after Koenig shot(damn). Funny how Happ never really developed and almost because a liability with all his tricky ball handling and ability to finish with either hand not able to even attempt a jump shot(much less 3) or hit a foul shot. Watching Mo Wagner who was not well known just score twice on Happ and Happ is 0-4 going the other way. Koening never went anywhere yet Duncan Robinson (an afterthought in this game) is setting 3 point records for Heat. Hindsight is very interesting and just like Q it is not a given that you improve every year

All I can think about watching the end of the Creighton game was the fact that Matta made sure he had a guy in the backcourt shadowing Korver all the way, making him go to his right and using up precious extra seconds, then he was forced into an off balance heave. Hmmmmmm.
Oh well......

I noticed that too, although Baldwin had more than 8 seconds while Korver had less than 4. We did not deny Korver, though, even coming out of a time out.

That wasn’t Korver, that was Tyler McKinney. I remember laughing my ASS off that Korver didn’t touch the ball after absolutely TORCHING us the last 5 minutes of the game. Sooooo while this may look like a nice time to pat Matta on the back for great defensive setup, that was not the case. Korver was planted on the baseline 94 feet away to curl off a screen there wasn’t time to execute.

Thanks for the good eyes, Lloyd. All those floppy haired white guys look alike!!
And if Korver wasn't in a position to touch the ball, then Dana Altman drew up a garbage play. A case of outsmarting himself.
And, it's not really patting Matta on the back, but he did have a guy in backcourt shadowing the ball handler, as *almost* every D1 coach would in that endgame situation.

Watching that game again shows how great Korver was. Sato was no slouch on D and Korver lit him up. It wasn’t even bad D, just unbelievable shooting from one of the best shooters the game has ever seen. I was in the student section that day and can remember just watching Korver the entire play and then the buzzer sounded, I was really confused. Altman f’d up big time, but to your point MOR, shadowing the ball handler slowed him down some.

Just finished Xavier/Pitt 2009 Sweet 16 game.
Ugh Derrick Browns heel barely on the baseline!!!!
Blair killed us the the second half of that game on the boards. Fields was a killer at the end. Sam Young was their high scorer.
Started the Duke 2004 game (youtube started it next) though not sure I should do that to myself.
WVU game sounds much better.

I have come to the decision that the Duke loss in 2004 is the most heart breaking loss in Xavier history.
It was the only of the 3 Elite 8's that we could have won. Should have won.
Would have been final 4.
Damn.
Maybe it is just because I am watching it now but I really think it is. Given what was on the line.
Final answer.

That 2008 UCLA team was a buzzsaw. I'm kind of pissed they didn't win it all.

Damn, Cintas was absolutely rocking it that game. Reminds me of the Purdue. I think that was the loudest I have ever heard Cintas.

Yeah that was terrible. I was a junior at SLU on spring break in Daytona and it was a Saturday afternoon game on the day we had to leave. Another guy on SB was a huge X fans also (despite us being SLU students). We had two cars of guys and my and my buddy stayed back to watch at a bar with two other guys who stayed who couldn’t care less about game. After that heartbreaking loss we had to drive 14 hours back to St. Louis (getting stuck in typical Atlanta traffic forever) and pull in to St. Louis when the sun was coming up Sunday morning. Had to rotate drivers every half hour at end as we were all so tired (minus the one guy who got to sleep the whole time bc he didn’t have a license lol. That’s another story tho).
Yeah that was a brutal loss. But man a loss that would have taken us to final 4. That takes the cake for me.

I've gone back and watched each game in the 2004 postseason from the A10 Tournament up throughthe Mississippi State game from my own library.
The thing that strikes me, and was repeated by every commentator on each game, from Dave Sims to Gus Johnson, was that Matta, who was a strict man-to-man defense guy, switched to predominately a 1-3-1 zone starting in the George Washington game- the 3rd game of the A10 Tournament. It was amazingly effective- even against an allegedly great outside shooting team like VDump in the A10 title game on their floor, and Louisville.
The moral? If you are a coach, don't stay married to a system that may not be working-especially in-game. Prepare with alternative schemes, teach your guys more, and don't be freaking stubborn and married to a scheme- both on defense and offense. That is what really separates the great coaches from the chaff.
I remember how long it took Mack to get this idea- it finally kicked in with him on January 22, 2015, in a game I attended, at Providence when we were getting boatraced, then in the second half, out of desperation, Mack finally went to a 1-3-1 zone. We came back, almost won it, but lost the game in OT. After that, Mack went to that 1-3-1 a lot and it worked beautifully.
Let's hope that *some* get this message sooner than later.

Yes changing up can work. Travis did that with his defense half way through his first year and the defense has been great. Hopefully that emphasis on being great on defense continues and we get the kind of offense we all want, including the coaches. Being able to do both with the talent we are bringing in should get us to the final 4 soon. As for this past team, what offense could they have run with the personnel? On paper some things sound great, but having a bunch of guys running around off screens requires a couple of great shooters. Naji is a great individual talent but most of his shots have had to come off the dribble for him one on one. That’s who he is. Goodin just isn’t the kind of guy that can be set up on screens and even Tandy is more of a guy who likes to shoot off the dribble, but I think he can be a guy who can set his man up off screens. Only Scruggs seems comfortable as a guy who can sit and shoot off the pass and maybe run off screens. On top of that we had to get the ball inside to make Tyrique effective and unfortunately he clogged up the lane because he couldn’t shoot outside of 2 feet. I think moving forward not having Ty in the lane that will open things up because next year all 5 guys will at least be a threat from outside the lane. This includes Miles who is a capable shooter. Not great but able to hit some outside shots. Ramsey I have no idea If he will be healthy next year.

Mack was annoyingly stubborn about it. I remember him being dismissive and basically rude when asked if he thought about changing defenses. He was adamant nothing else would work for so long.

I’ve watched most of the classic Xavier games that are on YouTube. I have a tradition before Xavier ncaa tournament games (re-watch the run, up until before the duke game, turn it off then) so I never saw the UC collapse against Nevada. Tried searching it, just saw an extended highlight on YouTube. That’s the only non Xavier thing I’ve watched.
