I just thought it would be cool to have a thread for anyone who wants to post updates from New York. Talk some hoops, places to eat or drink or anything related to the BET.
So my first question to anyone who is there... Are they talking about good ole Coronavirus as the BET is about to start? Are people actually considering not going cause of it?

I'm not there, but I'm sure coronavirus is the hot topic of debate there just as it is in pretty much every conversation I have with anyone these days. I do have a Georgetown buddy who was getting on the Amtrak this morning in D.C. to head up and who was having some second thoughts (aided by his MD wife urging him not to go). Pretty sure he got on the train (which I encouraged him to do by telling him I would go if I was in the area).

I've been here all week for work. Bought a ticket last night on SeatGeek for $19 (lower bowl corner). Tomorrow's sessions are significantly more expensive but if you want a ticket, you can get one. Can't really tell true impact of Coronavirus yet. NY seems pretty normally chaotic to me.

So far I’ve seen 3 million people and 2 Masks.
Well, maybe not 3 million but probably about the population of Cleveland. But the 2 masks is accurate.
Going to see “Jagged Little Pill” in a few. Let’s see how many theatre masks there are from the Snobbery Elites!

Wife and I are on the ground in Newark with our toddler. Headed to the welcome reception next.

I don't understand his issue. All he has to do is to head back to the bar car for some courage and immunization.

Is that a play or a band?

Isn't it ironic, don't you think?

I got a feeling MSG will have fans tonight but none tomorrow or moving forward.

Agreed....I'll be shocked if it is any other way

a big place like MSG - they should all just spread out and not breathe. Sort of like a self quarantine BE style.

Why the place looks packed. Val made it clear that they would proceed as planned unless the city shuts down large gatherings. I don’t know if New York will do that. Too much money involved. I guess we will see.

After the NBA news, this is all over. Xavier playing poorly seems like less of a big deal.

It seems like a 95% chance everything is going to get canceled now.

Naji giveth and Naji taketh away is so appropriate.

So...how were the NY-style pizza joints? Go to any cool speakeasys in NYC? See a show???

Let's just turn the clock back ... on the stock market, the season, and our trip to NYC.
Hilton hotels were accommodating and we were able to cancel even with less than 24 hours, no penalties. American Airlines allows us to change our flight for free. Big East will somehow refund the full ticket costs through my Xavier purchace ... details to be forthcoming.
Except big-time for the game outcome, this trip became a not-so-bad 36 hr visit to NYC.
My wife and I have put Kurt Russel and Escape from New York on our upcoming-to-watch list.
