I know Steele has talked about the need for Q to drive the ball more, but I hope he doesn't go crazy in that regard and force it 15 times trying to get into the lane tonight. He needs to take what the defense gives him when does drive and drop it off, kick out, or finish the shot / get fouled.

Over the summer all we heard from the pro camps he attended was he was knocking down shots consistently. He is struggling to do anything right out there this year. He needs to slow down and just worry about distributing the ball. Steel needs to set a shot limit for him.

It is a horrible stubborn strategy by Steele. Letting 2 fouls completely remove Scruggs (our 2nd best player with no suitable replacement) from the game is just foolish. There has to be an analytics guy who can prove this. He might not foul one more time the entire game and he will have missed half od it with 2 fouls. It just isnt smart coaching, especially as we are going down double digits.

When they posted the standings on the broadcast it really hit me hard that they really suck right now and there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Then watching Q airball a 8 foot tip back with 7 seconds on the clock after 20 seconds of ISO was really the cherry on top.

At least KyKy can score and make shots. Yeah, he might make some mistakes or get beat on defense a couple times, but he's a freshman. Goodin is a SENIOR!!!!

If I was Steele, I would throw KyKy in there and tell him he has the green light whenever he wants. Don't take stupid shots, but get up 10-12 shots a game. I guarantee you he would be averaging double figures and helping this offense!!

Q hasnt been right since Mack left and Jones is a beast for short spurts then disappears the rest of the game. Was really looking forward to seeing those 2 year it up this year but they've been extremely inconsistent. And dont defend jones saying hes a rebounding machine. With how bad this team shoots he should be averaging 15-20 boards per game. I feel like he was harder to stop before he dropped all the weight.

Of course you are correct. Steele isn't going to be fired and, were that to occur, X would be a laughingstock. But, don't underestimate the beneficial effect of venting on this board. If you were in a bar with a bunch of your friends watching this game, someone would have made a similar comment. This board allows people the same ability to express their frustrations when they are confined to their living room watching by themselves.

Still, as one who supported the Steele hiring when it happened, he clearly has a lot to learn. And that learning will take time which means more frustrations ahead for most of us.

Add freemantle to list of players that should shoot more 3s than Q per game. Moore and Q should each get 1 3pt attempt per half. If they hit that 1st attempt the get another. If they miss they need to wait until the next half or game to try another. It is outrageous that Steele allows those 2 to consistently chuck up shots that arent anywhere close to going in .

I will say a prayer for the team and all involved.Starting pg 2pts total and is 0 from the floor the last 2 games and Moore hasnt scored since the TCU game. Tandy shot like shit tonight but most of his shots came with game already out reach. I say start Tandy next game and play him 25+ minutes just to switch it up. Q needs maybe 12-15 minutes and a benching after each bad 3pt attempt. Moore needs to only play when the first 2 are in foul trouble.

Can Bishop come back? I would gladly give him Moores minutes

I haven’t commented on this team’s play this year. I don’t know what is going on in the locker room. I don’t know what is going on in the personal lives of the players or coaches. I’m not going to judge Steele until he has a roster of his own players. But I will say this...the under the basket play in the second half, when the game was already out of reach...when the inbounder went to the corner and shot an open 3. Goodin didn’t even try to contest the shot. That’s very disheartening. I love X basketball. I watched every minute of that debacle. I no longer allow myself to get too high or too low. It’s a game. I have a wonderful wife and 3 great kids that are far more important than a college basketball game. But that sequence really bummed me out. There is something wrong.

Not sure which was the worst to witness last night:

The team abandoning the little success they found early in the game driving, drawing fouls and slowing the game to their tempo.

The reasons they abandoned it: Poor shooters once again simply couldn’t help themselves when left with wide open looks from 3.

Q again jacking up more 3s than almost anyone on the team even though he is likely the worst 3 pt shooter on the team (and that probably includes Jones)

Q still not knowing how to make an simple layup

Q playing lazy defense for stretches of the game

Naji costing the team points and possessions because he chose instead to whine about missed fouls instead of continuing to play hard.

Naji- continuing to make really, really stupid decisions after really good ones.

Scruggs still committing those stupid early fouls that forces him to sit.

Moore and Kyky rushing their 3s.

Steele not making it a priority to get Scruggs - the best 3 pt shooter - more open looks from 3. It actually looked like Scruggs was asked instead to try to get the ball to the worst 3pt shooters so they could miss more.

Steele still not admitting one of the team’s biggest issues is the abundance of 3s his players are forcing
and missing.

Continued poor rebounding - partly due to some bigs being out of position. Partly because players don’t crash the boards when shots go up and partly because the players who were in good position to get a rebound don’t jump or fight for it. And partly because Jones and Freemantle aren’t seeing the floor together much at all like Steele keeps promising.

Jones coming across somewhat unfazed about the situation during his post game interview... and not taking it upon himself as a senior leader who is disgusted with the team’s poor performance and fired up about getting things right.

Just for fun, the guy who appears to be playing point for EKU (Jomaru Brown) has literally the highest usage rate in America (39%!) at an offensive rating of 75.6 (41% from 2, 24% from 3). He also has a higher turnover rate than Q. It's actually too perfect they have someone that aggresively bad at point guard.

EKU is also 6-11 against KenPom's 322nd toughest schedule.
