Speaking at the SEC Tipoff event on Wednesday, Calipari argued that additional rounds wouldn't be for the NBA but rather to stock its developmental arm, the G League.

"If anybody supports more rounds in the draft, those more rounds are to get kids to go to the G League, you do not care about college basketball or you're trying to ruin college basketball," Calipari said.

I'm not sure what it has to do with college basketball, but I don't think it's helpful to the players. Being a free agent and getting to decide who to sign with is better than being chained to a team because they drafted you in the 3rd or 4th round.

I think the implication is that more rounds (and perhaps more guaranteed contracts for later rounds) were further entice college basketball players to leave early.

Of course it would. There's already 5x more declaring compared to spots available. This will just make it exponentially worse.

What advantage is there to the NBA to do that? I don't agree that they're trying to ruin college basketball. I think it would impact college basketball, but I don't think that's what they're trying to do. Having said that....what are they trying to do??

Ruining college basketball would be the best thing that happens to college basketball.

The NBA believes (and I believe correctly) that they can developmplayers better in the G League than in college.

That the NBA has the interests of the NBA more in mind than the NCAA coaches do.
