Another of 5 articles has a quote from Colby saying he is recruiting Ben Carlson.

Great news. Chatter at Cintas today was that if it didn't happen today it wasn't going to. Glad to see it did!
Couldn't go a year without a Jones!

Huge get! Sounds like a really smart kid. Academics are very important to him. Boom!

This is a bald-faced lie! The quote was, "They think he could be pretty close to leaving for the NBA..."

I must have read 6 Colby "Cheese" Jones commitment articles today.
Ok chill. Deep breaths. I read the article and got the impression that Jones felt like he was a good fit since he can fill in when Naji goes ba-bye.
It really was: Jones felt like he was a good fit since he can fill in IF Naji goes ba-bye.
It is a great day to be an X fan!

I know we've had high recruits in the past, but it seems like this staff is closing on more of their targets. Makes you wonder why Mack seemed to struggle in closing. And Odom and Jones are openly recruiting! How's that for helping the staff get things going in the right direction?!
Between this year's class and the next, we'll have the backcourt in great shape. This Jones kid seems like a go getter. Might need to work on his shot more, but there's time for that. What's interesting to me is this class looks more like the type of players Nova has been closing on. Hopefully their excellent program is raising all ships in the Big East.

He’s an economics major. He has already researched Cincinnati with respect to the mix of large corporations based there.
Academics is very important to him. Stanford and Yale were in the mix. And yet we still check the boxes for that key area.
I love everything about landing this young man.

The other school Carlson is considering is Stanford so I’m glad we got one of their targets. From a purely basketball standpoint, I’d have to think we’re infintely more appealing at this point

I know everyone is high on this year's frosh class, but next year's is shaping up to be considerably better.

Does it really matter?
How many of us realistically think Naji will be back next year? All the signs point to him leaving. Just roll with it and enjoy the season and the fantastic recruiting trail we have right now.
If you don't think it's realistic, start preparing yourself (and Naji isn't the only one).

Yes, we need to reload. Very likely Naji is gone. Scruggs has a chance although not as likely....IMHO.

I think they are 99 percent both gone. Whether that is nba or not, I dont think it matters. They are older, they have the physical tools, and x has recruited as if this is their last year.

Nice.
Jones sounds like a stud in every respect except for one thing, which is significant- he's not a very good shooter from the three right now.

He's as much of a shooting guard as Naji is.

Assuming the Core 4 are gone after TY, where do you guys see the 5 "guards" getting their minutes next year (I'm referring to Kyky, Dwon, Dahmir, C.J. and Colby)? In other words, I assume these 5 guys will be getting the majority of the minutes at the PG, SG and SF positions - assuming no one transfers into any of those positions between now and then. Of course we don't know how Dontarius has developed over the summer, or how he will develop over the upcoming year, so maybe he will be taking serious minutes at the SF. Just curious at what the consensus is for these guys....

Kinda tough to speculate before we’ve seen any of them play a college game

I think that's a good way of phrasing it. And one thing to remember- these recruits don't get taller, they don't get more athletic, but they can and do learn how to shoot better.

Totally disagree....17 year olds have been known to experience growth spurts....AND X has a helluva Strength and Conditioning system to increase overall athletic prowess. Not to mention that our guys evidently get custom CHEF made meals....WOW!

If I had to predict, assuming no transfers in(which won't be the case), it'll look something like this. That being said, I think they'll bring in a grad transfer because that is a very inexperienced 1-3.
1: Odom 30 Tandy 10
2: Tandy 20 Bishop 15 Wilcher 5
3: Jones 20 Wilcher 10 Bishop 10

Both Jones AND Wilcher seem to be destined for Naji’s Spot at the 3. Of course a “Combo/Swing” suits both of them well. Man, this guy Steele knows how to put pieces in place!!

Love it, Jones has really been blowing up on the recruiting circuit and could end up being another top 100 player for X, I think we're doing exactly what we should be on the recruiting trail, get in with a couple top 50 guys, and stay in the top 100, no reason a program like X shouldn't look attractive for these types of guys, exciting times coming up, truly!!

He is extremely important to this team, he brings ball up, he rebounds so naturally, and his defense is solid. Not too shabby.

AMEN! What a great recruit! He just…..gets it.
