What are some of the best dunks in Xavier history?
Post a video if you can find one or just your memory of the dunk.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UZkjne1Zrs4
This video has two of the best, Posey's dunk on George Washington and Tyrice Walker's dunk where he completely cleared the defender.
Two of my other favorites were both Derrick Brown deliveries
1. D. Brown against Eric Gordon and Indiana
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qTZ9iIeA_qU
2. Derrick Brown against George Washington
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeSCI4Xrb8Y
and an extra derrick brown dunk video for who I consider the best xavier dunker of all time on one of the all time best Xavier teams
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VmTbEsK7rSE&t=125s
who ya got?

First one that popped into my mind was the Brown dunk vs IU. That was awesome, I was at that game in Chicago. But the others posted are really good, love the JP put back, the Dez dunk, and the Ed dunk on UC.
No the best but maybe most satisfying:

Given NCAA tourney, vs powerhouse IU, on national TV with Al Maguire, and other circumstances, clearly #1.

Notwithstanding the above, in a game against Oklahoma City in the Staak years, there was a Jeff Jenkins dunk off a Ralph Lee lob pass over the back line of Oklahoma City's defense featuring the Acres brothers that should be remembered if only to mark how far the program has progressed. Sorry but pressed for time & somehow doubt youtube will help.

There was a dunk over an Evansville player (the loser who declared early, and then never go drafted) back when X was in the MCC. The Evansville guy was standing just inside the foul line, guarding his crotch and prepared for a charge by the X player coming down for a slam. Instead the X player jumped completely over he defender and threw it down. Sadly I can't remember either player's name.

Above ones are great. I'll add -- Jeff Robinson over LaSalle at the Cintas Center. Not an important dunk, just super impressive in person.

Sumner over UC was great.
Also a bunch of awesome exclamation point dunks near the end of games by JP -- I think Butler, Wisconsin and Seton Hall.

No, it was Parrish Casebier. The Xavier player was Tyrice Walker, I think.

The best dunk that never happened was a Brad Redford one. I got 10-1 odds for $100 from 4 guys that he would dunk in a game before he graduated.
Narrator- He never dunked.

He did make a contested lay-up against Pitt in the 2nd Round of the tournament in Milwaukee, which is basically like a dunk!

For the moment and significance, Aaron Williams dunk against IU takes it. A recent favorite was Jalen Reynolds against Weber St in the NCAA tourney a few years ago: https://youtu.be/GnZhOJku_Gc
Jeff Robinson’s against LaSalle also comes to mind. It looked a lot more impressive at Cintas than on TV.

Favorite Dunk: Lionel Chalmers in NCAA Tournament (believe it was against Mississippi State). Drove down the center of the lane and flushed it while guarded. Before that moment, didn't know he could dunk. I couldn't find video, but DAMN it was awesome.
Runner Up: Justin Doellman putting the exclamation point on a victory over #1 and undefeated St. Joe's at VD arena during the A10 Tournament. Was there to witness Jameer Nelson's antics after he dropped the hammer.

The best dunk is the one nobody saw (and maybe never happened). The "blackout" game against La Salle (or maybe GW, I can't remember). Some of you other old-timers might remember. James Posey had a breakaway, but all the lights went out when he was about 20 feet from the basket. Now it may have been the Molson's they used to serve that made my friends and me see things, but we still swear to this day when the lights came back on Posey was hanging from the rim.

Then we gotta add Crawford over LeBron to that list, right? If we're going to let future Muskies be eligible?

The Grey Ghost get's my vote.
I will love this one till the day I die, but the thing that pissed me off is the complete lack of reaction, additional commentary about that unbelievable backward twirling circus dunk in an extremely close game against the Bobby's vaunted IU team in the tourney. Even during the replay they continued discussing the upcoming foul shots and not another word about the dunk.

an extremely close game against the Bobby's vaunted IU team in the tourney.
Man that was a great effort against what was arguably Bobby’s second most talented team (behind 76 squad). They went 17-1 in the Big 10 while beating Michigan’s fab five twice. However, Kansas had their number that year and beat them twice.
After looking back at that Xavier team, I forgot how talented they were. 4 future NBA players in Grant, Williams, Hawkins, and Larry Sykes (ok just one game for the Celtics but still counts). Think this might be close to contradicting my statement I said about the 1990 team a few days ago lol.

I believe it was against Louisville in round one. I remember laying on my couch thinking we were going to lose that game, and he had that dunk, and the whole game turned.

The audio is from the IU radio broadcast, not the TV broadcast. The announcer is Don Fisher, who has been broadcasting IU games forever.
Maybe not #1, but worth a mention is Mark Lyons at the end of the Round of 32 game against Lehigh. Not just for the dunk, but also how it rankled the "be a good sport and run out the clock" crowd.

Pete Gillen developed a lot of really talented guys. He doesn't get enough credit for that sometimes

The audio is from the IU radio broadcast, not the TV broadcast.
I'm not sure how that mitigates almost ignoring this monumental play at a crucial point in a huge game. In fact, on TV where, it might be argued, the play might "speaks for itself". On radio, where the announcers need to 'paint a picture' gives all the more reason to acknowledge the play and give it the appropriate verbal due.

I am a more recent fan (although remember all those good X teams as an NCAA fan) but lets not forget JP vs Seton Hall which was one of the most surprising dunks I have ever seen, no windup, no 3 on 2, no alley oop just sitting there after a missed shot in a close impportant road game and there it was. Many good Edmund, Jalen and Tyrique as well.. but for many reasons JP's stood out
