Anyone know if this always means they are def transferring? I would assume that means so but they can pull out of the portal right? Find out who has interest? I would think Elias could be a big part of the teams plans next year.
Anyone have any examples of someone being in the portal and returning to their current school?

A bit surprised and I was really looking forward to seeing him aa an upperclassman. Kinda wonder if this means we are about to sign someone.

Yes that's correct, you can pull out of the portal at any time (all the examples I have are for college football but I could list them if you really want), it's a way to gauge interest, though the vast majority do end up leaving.

Yeah, same thought, first instinct was that I'm curious if that means anything with Harvey, and if he's gonna get added to the class. Kind of bummed about this is Elias does leave, because he showed some awesome flashes throughout this season, I really think he could contribute and be a knock down shooter in the future, but I can definitely understand wanting a bigger role on a team. Definitely wish him the best.

Not surprising.
He didn't play much this year, and with the incoming class, I think would see less time next year.
He really wasn't the shooter we thought he would be- shot 35% at X overall and 32% from the three, although he shot better this year. He did hustle on defense.
Good luck to him.

Kira Lewis was in the portal for about a week when Avery Johnson got let go at Alabama. Once they hired Nate Oats about a week later, he announced he'd be returning.

I feel like if thats the case its more likely a grad transfer than a high school recruit. But who knows.

Good luck to Elias. I’m surprised he stuck around after last year.
As pointed out in another thread, Elias was never a great shooter so that expectation was unfair. He shot mid 30s from 3 in HS so expecting 40%+ was not realistic.
I think he still has good potential and showed some spark on D. He has good length and can be valuable for someone.

Graduate transfer Bryce Moore from Western Michigan is finishing up a visit today. Will also visit Creighton tomorrow and Sunday. Went to Park Tudor High School in Indianapolis. Same HS as Trevon Bluiett. Moore would be a 2 guard. First team all-defense in the MAC. Career 37.6% shooter from 3 including 40.0% his junior year on 160 attempts. Would be a nice role player that could provide shooting and defense without disrupting chemistry or requiring the ball be in his hands to be effective.

Yeah I thought of him when I heard this. Here's hoping he cancels his other visits bc X sold him!

I’m thinking the same thing....does this mean something will happen real soon?
I’d love for X to get a really good defensive guard. Someone that wants to take on the challenge of stopping guards like Howard and Powell, and relishes the thought of stopping them from going off. It’s been quite awhile since X had a player like that at the guard position.

Wish Elias the best! Thought he could’ve had an expanded role next season.
Amazingly, this will be third recruit (out of 5) not work out from Mack’s 2017 class. However the two still here are studs. I know things don’t work out for recruits, but since 2013 (minus the all impressive 2014) X has had more recruits transfer out or never make it to campus than other caliber type schools. This is where I hope Steele improves in our recruitment and this starts with the 2019 class.

+1 Exactly! This is one reason I stopped following recruiting closely! Half the guys I’m excited about never make it to campus and the other half never pan out.

Am I correct with Harden & Keonte Kennedy transferring X now has two open scholarships? Would love for another grad transfer and a traditional transfer that sits a year, but has two years of eligibility remaining.

So they have come to realize that wojo is a mediocre coach too? Interesting.

Yes, they would both have to sit out a year barring some type of hardship waiver.

In some respects, maybe it's not surprising given how sudden Marquette's late-season collapse was. Markus Howard announced last Friday that he was coming back for his senior season - on paper everything was falling in place for them to being a Top 10/Top 15 team next season.

Sounds like Hauser’s want it to be a packaged deal. Wonder how many teams have two Scholys left this year and are willing to play with only 11 next year because they just ate two.

That's great point. I bet UC would take them! I think they have two openings right now. My guess is those two are looking for a bigger profile team, but most of the really big programs aren't lacking for quality recruits, and sitting on the roster spots might be hard.

Real bad look for Wojo both of them transferring. How many seniors who have to sit a year transfer? Not many I wouldn't think, especially without a coaching change.
Maybe they didnt like Howard was coming back?

No mention of Harden whatsoever and I agree. For some reason, lots of us here are sorry the guy left but I was not one of them....probably his harshest critic....always looked very “Big South” talent wise to me. KK comes in at #50.

Didn’t think anyone would be offended. Not my intention. He played 2 full seasons and looked like he was not cut out for High D1 competition. Nothing personal just fact. Besides, what makes you think he is down? Most likely he is excited to land somewhere that he can salvage a career to look back on.

I don't think you had anything to apologize for. You commented on Harden's basketball abilities, and nothing more. That's one of things we do on this board. Well that and argue politics and global warming.

Weird post.
Harden wasn't good enough to get consistent minutes at Xavier. Period. He'll transfer to a Big South-ish school and play more minutes. Very simple.

My point which was probably phrased incorrectly, is that it's weird you are praising how right you were on someone who is being shown the door or leaving because he feel that he didnt fit in. It is odd.

Am I the only one who is holding on the faint glimmer of hope that he decides to stay? I think with some confidence he could be a pretty good sixth man. He's a good defender and could be a good 3-and-D guy for us off the bench.

damn we want everyone to go on forever..look at Jalen, Edmund, Kaiser. They have a life to live and did what was best for them. Best of luck to all, I also think of Miles Davis and the dumb things many of us have done for girls. They have all given me a lot of pleasure..think of Georgetown and Villanova and Eli was a key player in each win.
