Does anybody know what the tie breaker is for 3rd? I know to win it outright we need flat top then we need wojo to beat Patrick. Nova to beat Hall. And puke to beat Dad. All could happen But what happens if we win and they win who gets the 3rd seed?

I think what you are asking is if we tie Creighton who gets 3rd seed? The answer is it depends who wins the league. If nova wins, we are 3 and they are 4. If Nova and Marquette tie then it goes to next tie breaker (conference road record), which is also a tie. Then it goes to best road win, which goes to Creighton (@MU)

If Villanova beats Seton Hall, Marquette beats Georgetown, Butler beats Providence and DePaul beats Creighton, we'll have the Xavier/St. John's winner alone in 3rd place and the loser stuck in a SIX-way tie for fourth place this weekend.

Marquette
Seton hall
Xavier
St. John’s

Nice tool! If you submit without making any changes, DePaul is the #10 seed. If you select DePaul beating Creighton on Saturday (and make no other changes), DePaul is the #4 seed.

Best I can figure, the ONLY scenario that results in Xavier playing Wednesday is Creighton over DePaul (or Butler over Providence), Georgetown over Marquette, Seton Hall over Villanova and St. John's over Xavier. Seems unlikely, but unlikely is pretty much par of the course this year.

So win and worst case is 5 seed. I want to be in the bracket with Marquette, It’s hard to beat a team 3 times and they just seem to be falling apart. Suit scares me, I want nothing to do with nova.

When I put in the results I think will happen Saturday, I have us as the 3 playing #6 Georgetown in Marquette’s side of the bracket.
If we lose and everything else stays the same, I have us as the 5 playing #4 Creighton in Nova’s bracket.
Worst case, we fall to the 7 and play #10 Providence. For that to happen, all the home teams have to lose or all but Seton Hall lose. Don’t see either of those happening.

You don't want to be playing Nova at MSG in the BET until Saturday. Their fans take over the arena and make it very difficult on any team playing Nova. Trust me I have been to all the new Big East Tournament games.
I was at the Seton Hall Marquette game last night and I would not be afraid to play them. Our interior game has gotten much better when Steele allows Ty and Zach to be on the court together. Marq was hot early but when game was on the line they were forcing a lot of shots. They did not score in the last 5 minutes of the game. Reminded me of the 17-2 run Seton Hall put on us last week that we were lucky to survive. Howard could not get to the hoop when R Gill was in the game.

Providence fills the place as well (they were out in force against X last year). Some of these schools are a cheap train ride away from MSG.

Yeah. Common sense but unless we are playing Marquette, Creighton, Butler, DePaul or Georgetown (until they get back to being fully relevant), an MSG game is going to be more similar to a road environment than a home one.
I've been to the BET last 3 years (can't attend this year) but in terms of fan support (and this is my complete, likely buzzed opinion), I'd say it's been:
1. Villanova
2. Seton Hall
3. Providence
4. Creighton
5. Xavier
6. Marquette
7. St. John's
8. Georgetown
9. Butler
10. DePaul
Caveats being that Marquette, St. John's and Georgetown should all improve attendance as the teams improve.

In 2014, when Creighton had McBuckets, they must have had 5000 fans and they showed up for every session at MSG. Not as many since that year when they took us down in the Semi's. Seton Hall only a 30 minute train ride from campus to under MSG but they only show for finals.
So let's talk about a meaningful streak. Since the start of the new BE in 2014, Xavier has played in the Friday night Semi Final round every year. We only played on Wednesday night in 2017 against DePaul. Now we have lost 4/5 semi games, but did make the final in 2015. Getting to at least Friday is a must!

More BET trivia. Xavier is the only team to play in all 5 Semi Final rounds of the tournament. Nova and Providence next with 4 appearances. Seton Hall 3. Creighton 2. Butler and Gtown 1 each. Marquette, St John's and DePaul have never played on Friday night in "the world's most famous arena"!

Seton Hall will be the 3 or 4 seed. If we win, along with Creighton and Marquette and we’re the 4 playing Creighton. DePaul and Marquette win and we’re the 4 playing DePaul. DePaul and Georgetown win and we’re the 5 playing the Hoyas.
If we lose, and Marquette wins and we’re the 6 playing St. John’s regardless of Creighton DePaul. If Georgetown and Creighton win, we’re the 7 playing DePaul. I think that’s all the possibilities.

If X and Creighton win X is 4 and Creighton is the 5. If Marquette wins they would be 1 in that situation (which was in only 4 of the 32 scenarios coming in).
If Marquette loses and X and Creighton win X 4, Creighton 5 and Nova 1.
Is that the preferred path Nova or Marquette ?

Georgetown's freshmen guards are fearless. Georgetown is back, or will be fully back by next year.
And the Big East still only has two of 10 teams that can claim the regular season championship.

Gtown and not even close. To even be considered for an at large bid we need to win 2. If Creighton loses today they are eliminated from the bubble and when we beat Gtown per the assumption we likely pass them too. Also Creighton’s offense has 5 on the arc with many screens and dives to the basket making it impossible to play two bigs in man to man (especially Hankins) and zone is a crapshoot against a three point team like them.

I don't know. Gtown frosh guards looked very good against Marquette tonight. Actually thought if they made NCAA tourney they could win a game with those two. Only advantage is we'd have the older guards, but weren't they destroying us at home? Granted we came back and won.
Though reality is, our defense has been very good these last few weeks. I honestly believe we can beat anyone in this tournament. Though strangely, I'm more nervous about the first round game over the second. Im probably crazy, but nova has less depth than we do, imo.

You are right... However 1 huge factor played into that. That is at no point did they play 7 straight basketball minutes with no whistles or TV time outs. Trust me that matters. Going 100 % that long is brutal and it happened twice in the Butler game.
At this point though who cares. We got the right matchup. Creighton is much better for us. I disagree with the person who said we can't play 2 bigs. Creighton will have nothing inside. I'll give them all the three they want. If they hit 15 to win I'll take that chance. Our bigs will brutalize them inside all game

How is he performing, shooting from deep?
I know he's trying and he wants to contribute, but he is mostly failing from behind the arc. And he can still be to casual with his passes.
It's not about balance in a grading system at this point; it's not about the good with the bad.
Now, as we go to NYC, we need him firing on all cylinders for 40 minutes, making good decisions virtually 100% of the time. Margin for error is crunching down to VERY THIN.

The minutes thing is overrated. Most teams have guys that play 35-40 minutes every night. Duke never plays more than 7 guys every year. Yesterday Nova and Duke each had three guys play between 36-40 minutes. And that is typical minutes for those guys. These are college athletes that play basketball for several hours a day. Plus the game has a ton of stoppages for media, regular timeouts and of course video review. I think people overplay the minutes played thing.
