Thought we get this thread started so we can see what the experts think about who is in and who is out. We have a 9% chance according to one site.

9% is much better than 0%, which is where we were about a week ago.

Is Dancecard continuing in 2019? I clicked the link and was very confused...and eventually realized it was the 2018 version. I could not find 2019 on the site.

I was hoping dance card would update soon. The team rankings site appears to be the same sort of site

Also has our projected record at 17-14, so wonder how much it bumps if we can take care of business at Butler.

Our guys appear to give three sh!ts about someone else's spreadsheet and probabilities.

They are locked in. I believe it is this simple: regardless of whatever magic dust Steele used to turn this thing around, these guys are so locked and loaded and have so much pent up demand to continue tasting success, that I don't believe we're going to have to worry about any material letdowns or brainfarts during play.

Butler is going to have to beat us. I doubt we p!ss it away to them. And I doubt Butler realizes what is about to hit them Tuesday night.

Xavier is flat out imposing its will on the opposition at this point.

If we work the ball inside on Butler we should have our way. Brunk is no match for Jones and Hanky. Guard the perimeter, and dictate the pace. Just have to make sure we don't get in foul trouble, as at Hinkle it's usually 5 on 7.

I wonder what Seton Hall fans think about their team being on First Four In and their current status in BE while X is hot. They must think they have to win out regular season and win at least 1 more BE tourney game.

I can't say enough about how cool Bart Torvik's site is. If you're not familiar with it, you should click over there and fool around with all the stuff he has to offer. Of particular interest to this thread are his teamcast tool (http://www.barttorvik.com/teamcast.php?rank=71&dyn=1&team=Xavier&year=2019&bracket=1&IUPUIXavier11-6=A&EvansvilleXavier11-10=A&WisconsinXavier11-13=A&XavierAuburn11-19=A&XavierSan_Diego_St_11-20=A&XavierIllinois11-21=A&Miami_OHXavier11-28=A&OaklandXavier12-1=A&OhioXavier12-5=A&XavierCincinnati12-8=A&Eastern_KentuckyXavier12-15=A&XavierMissouri12-18=A&DetroitXavier12-21=A&XavierDePaul12-29=A&Seton_HallXavier1-2=A&XavierMarquette1-6=A&GeorgetownXavier1-9=A&ButlerXavier1-13=A&XavierVillanova1-18=A&ProvidenceXavier1-23=A&MarquetteXavier1-26=A&XavierGeorgetown1-31=A&XavierCreighton2-3=A&DePaulXavier2-9=A&CreightonXavier2-13=A&XavierProvidence2-16=A&XavierSeton_Hall2-20=A&VillanovaXavier2-24=A&XavierSt__John_s2-28=A&XavierButler3-5=W&St__John_sXavier3-9=W&x1_type=Post&x1_loc=N&x1_team=Seton+Hall&x1_res=W&x2_type=Post&x2_loc=N&x2_team=Villanova&x2_res=W&x3_type=Post&x3_loc=N&x3_team=Marquette&x3_res=L&x4_type=&x4_loc=&x4_team=&x4_res=&x5_type=&x5_loc=&x5_team=&x5_res=), which puts Xavier as one of the last four in if they next lose in the BET final, and his tool for comparing tournament resumes (http://www.barttorvik.com/resume-compare.php?team=Xavier&year=2019&conlimit=All&now=1&rec=0&rec=1&net=1&resume=1&wab=1&elo=1&power=1), which shows that only one team with a resume similar to Xavier's current numbers has snatched an at-large. If you didn't know about Bart, now you do. There's plenty to explore on his site other than those two things. I promise I'm not a paid shill for him.

Also, we'll be running a bubble rooting guide every day until Selection Sunday; the first iteration just came off the presses here (https://www.bannersontheparkway.com/2019/3/1/18246856/xavier-fans-bubble-cheering-guide-march-1-march-madness-basketball-at-large-bid).

Didnt he give us a 10% chance in that same scenario just the other day? Wonder how it changed so much that now that scenario shows us in the last four in?

I think it has to do with the underlying numbers. When I just click in results, all it does is change Xavier's record. With actual big wins in the data, their metrics change a bit. He also added a thing (or I just missed it the first time) you can click that tries to adjust the metrics based on the projected results. I think the answer lies in those two factors changing how X looks in this scenario.

It's probably also worth noting that being the last of the last four in shows Xavier with a 26.9% chance of being in the field, so it's not like it went from 1 in 10 to a lock. There's still a lot of uncertainty at the bottom of the bubble.

Team Rankings has a lot of different rankings. He has numerous SOS rankings which few other sites offer. He also has a last 10 games rank, and a last 5 games rank... https://www.teamrankings.com/ncaa-basketball/ranking/last-5-games-by-other

This is great stuff but I hope none of the players or coaches are aware of this (which seems unlikely). It blows my mind to look at the stats and kind of reverse engineer what they are indicating. I just find that playing/coaching I am better off not scoreboard watching and assuming the worst all the time. Whenever I drifted mentally I was usually punished by a surprise poor result. That even held true for school or work.. my motto was "Just because you are paranoid that doesn't meant they AREN"T out to get you"

One projection (https://twitter.com/JordanHarrison) as a 12 seed in the bracket matrix through 3/1. The projection has four BE teams as 12's playing in Dayton: Butler/StJohns and Hall/Xavier.
