We seem to play in a state of Numbness vs Nova. The Edmund Sumner incident where he was carted off in a stretcher prolonged/increased the Numbness. Our current team is "sucky" quite often, but with mostly new players they WILL overcome this Numbness.
Coach Wright seems to prepare extra hard for XU as he may rightfully fear we will become the new Flagship of the BE. We aren't there yet & may never be, but I believe this team knows no fear. We may be having an off season, but these guys play with heart & passion right now.
All I ask Friday is to keep it close enough to have a chance to win in the final 2 minutes. We haven't been able to compete for even 1 half vs Nova in a long time. The Numbness ends this season. We get at least 2 chances. We will succeed

This is the kind of season where I could see us beating Nova. It's been a weird year so far.

I actually drove from Conn to see the Edmund Sumner injury game which was a blowout. As a retiree at 63(working part time as a substitute teacher 3 days/week and playing hoop 60+ 2 days) and empty nester for the first time in my life I can focus on TV Sports and am overdosing on FS1, CBSSports and have watched every minute of X basketball this year. Booth willed Villanova over Depaul and St Johns at Villanova and I forgot how skilled and athletic he can be. Paschall is another Larry Johnson, and the rest of the players produce; I can't think of one who does not. Since this road game is not considered winnable we are playing with house money and we should not be tight like last year when expectations were so high. I will be watching for signs of good ball security, good closeouts and a little bit of cold shooting on Villanova's part. As far as overdosing, with every game on FSI I am too familiar with Lyric Sherirer, Samson Frolich, Tauren Thompson, Nate Fowler, Isiah Jackson etc and now obsess over every game, every summary, every comparison stat, etc. It is too much but I do get great enjoyment from following the Big East.

If X keeps this under a 15 point loss (ie. somewhat competitive), it will be a moral victory.

Anything can happen. Furman was a 16.5 pt dog, went in there and beat 'em by 8.

And I am confident we are better than Furman.

And I am confident that current Villanova is better than week 2 Villanova.

And I am confident we are as well.

Not sure where all this confidence is coming from but I like it!

I mean we have technically beaten them, and even beating them tomorrow (which I'm praying for) won't necessarily end the Nova Numbness. Until we consistently get close match ups with them and not get blown out of the water, we haven't proven anything, not to be a debbie downer or anything, because I think with how strange this season has been we could just catch them off guard and clip them. I'm hoping Steele has the guys ready for tomorrow, but for me, the numbness still won't be over until we show we can compete game in and game out.

Any word if Big Q is playing? Would be nice if he could give 15 minutes or so. We need to try a few minutes of Hankins & Jones. Hopefully Coach can mix & match players in our lineup & be ready to use multiple Defensive schemes.

Hey, pass that pipe this way!

Might you be insinuating that beating Nova is a pipe dream at best. Put a W in that Pipe & smoke em!

Hopefully very few: 'Nova bigs run and roam all over the court; neither Jones nor Hanky McSpanky could guard them on perimeter. But I'm sure Coach Steele understands. I fret XU assistant coaches have no first hand insights to 'Nova so Steele pretty much out on his own island.

Nova Bigs? Plural? Or Are you talking their Fordham transfer? These posers are primed for an upset. The reason we (everybody) have been hammered by these guys is because they have been loaded with NBA talent since the start of the NBE.....X plus 11 is bank!
