Villanova (+2) - W at Providence, W at Creighton
Marquette (+1) - W at Creighton
Seton Hall (+1) - W at Xavier
Xavier (0) - W at DePaul, L vs. Seton Hall
DePaul (0) - L vs. Xavier, W at St. John's
Georgetown (0) - W at Butler, L vs. St. John's
St. John's (0) - W at Georgetown, L vs. DePaul
Butler (-1) - L vs. Georgetown
Creighton (-1) - W at Providence, L vs. Marquette, L vs. Villanova
Providence (-2) - L vs. Creighton, L vs. Villanova
Needless to say, this is still a wide-open league below Villanova and Marquette. Creighton had a tough week losing to the top 2 teams at home - especially the one against Marquette where Markus Howard went off. Providence is in an early hole, especially with a home loss to Creighton.

i am been looking at the Butler, Creighton, St Johns, and Providence boards and they are not happy. This league is very competitive now..Depaul shoudl have beaten Villanova at Villanova..

No, those are the games that make us "0". A win at DePaul was a +1 but the loss at home to Seton Hall was a -1. So we are "0" on the year.

Any trip into minus territory would forebode at best an 8-10 finish in league play.
Creighton was -2 last week after a pair of tough home losses against Marquette and Villanova.

Georgetown and Providence are road games Xavier almost has to get this year - I'm not sure if the Friars have had injuries, but I was not expecting them to be wearing the goat horns at this stage. Creighton and Butler MIGHT be winnable, but anything in the top tier of the league (Villanova, Seton Hall, St. John's) would be gold at this point.

I think if we can get 3 road wins we can get to .500 in conference. We need at least 3 tho. We have 1.
I would be very surprised if we wont at Georgetown this year. Their freshman (Mac & Akinjo) are getting better every game.

Much more sobering when you see the standings this way compared to two weeks ago. The loss at home to Marquette hurt Xavier, but the Providence loss REALLY hurt. There is a chance to offset that a bit this week with roadies at Georgetown and Creighton. Georgetown has been in a lot of close games this year, so it wasn't terribly surprising that they won at St. John's yesterday. Gotta wonder if they can handle prosperity at home, though. Creighton is also in desperation mode with home games against St. John's and Xavier this week.

That shows in the starkest light how important this Seton Hall game is in the entire mix of things.
I applaud you X-Band for providing this continued insight. This is a very useful metric, and it makes this board a better place.
Seton Hall is shaping up to be a watershed moment for this team. Look at those standings. We take that one, and it opens up a wealth of possibilities.
Dare I say the most important game of the season is upon us.

Is it better to be 6th than 4th or 5th this year anyone think? To avoid Marquette?
Maybe not I guess if St. Johns is 3rd and home basically. Guess we will know more about that though come playing St.Johns twice. We could play ourselves into #3. That seems like the plan.

Nova has the number one seed right now by virtue of one more game played and one more win than Marquette. Assuming they end the season tied, who has the tiebreaker to earn the number one seed. I know right now the feeling is we want to stay far away from Marquette, so I'm curious who we'd be in line to play.

If Xavier ends up in 3rd place, Marquette would be #1 by virtue of a sweep of Xavier.
If St. John's ends up getting involved in any tiebreaker, it would give Villanova an edge since the Johnnies swept Marquette.

Georgetown actually has complete control over who the #3 seed would be right now - if they win out, they'd have a victory at Marquette and could leapfrog Xavier in such a scenario.

If DePaul plays like it did on Sunday, Georgetown is going to have a tough time on Wednesday.
I know it's bad for the be bubble, but how crazy would it be if DePaul won out and got to 8-10? I think they still have a shot at 5th, though that would likely mean SJU would be 6th, if we also win out.
Not sure I want to play the johnnies in Madison Square Garden.

When X wins the BE Tournament, do they get to put 2019 after the 2018 on the Big East championship banner or is that only for regular season championships?

If Marquette wins out, and we win out, they get the 1 and we get the 3.
If GTown beats Marquette, Marquette gets the 2, Gtown the 3, and we get the 4
Either way if we win out we look to be isolated against Marquette until the Championship game.
We really need to beat Butler and not be naval gazing.
Creighton has two winnable games and can still get a bye and make a run.
Seton Hall has two home games against Marquette and Nova, they take both of those they are on everyone's radar.
Plenty of excitement down the stretch.
BEAT BUTLER!

Well, there's always the chance Georgetown does the very Big East 2019 thing and loses to DePaul before they beat Marquette. Then we're the #3, and Marquette is the #2.
