4 probably. Maybe Lavender would be better in the starting lineup.

If we're talking to play currently, the only correct answer IMO is this:

Hollway G
Larkin G
Bluiett F
Sato F
West F

You might take some note that my selections were purposefully segmented by position (seemed to conform with OP); whether Trevon to select over Romain I confess is quite a close call but overall IMO Romain was the better all-round player. Romain was a defender--something Trevon was seriously lacking--and rebounder more so than Trevon. Further, James Posey was 6th man (during his soph. & jr. yrs & but for Darnell's injury would have completed that role) something Trevon was not slotted to perform. I will stand with my choices. Selecting Trevon merely b/c his scoring prowess and stature seems rather incomplete analysis of other outstanding players. I doubt you even recognize at least 2 of the HM names. LMAO.

I like this one. Having seen Kimbrough and Tu, I give the edge to Stan. Slight edge to Tre over Sato. Then, I want Posey, Sato, Grant and Lavender on my bench.

He didn't even have Jordan Crawford! He would need even more touches.

Currently? As in today? Larkin in 52.....if you are talking playing a game today Crawford has to be in there instead of Larkin.

You’re right I should have gone Grant instead of Love. I was doing it without looking at the record books and honestly just spaced it.

No, im talking the players in their college form, but in today's game in terms of lineups, style etc. Crawford would be my next guy and I almost picked him over Larkin. Only reason I didnt was Larkin did it for longer in college

You are exactly right, scoscox!!! Anybody who doesn't have Steve Thomas among the 5 best players ever to suit up in a Xavier uniform has to be well under 50 years of age! He was exceedingly quick in his moves (and deceptively fast afoot) and was dangerous from any distance inside the half-court line. If the three-point line would have been in play during Steve's playing seasons for Xavier (only 73 games due to injuries), he would have averaged far more than "just" 23.6 ppg (more than any other Xavier player in history) while averaging 47.4% from the field, over 81% from the line, snaring 3.3 rb's and dealing 3 assists per game. Furthermore, he is the only player in Xavier history to score as many as 50 points in a game (vs Detroit when they were good)!

Perhaps some of the few other "fossils" on this board might want to chime in as well on what a great player Steve was.

My stepdad was there for Steve Thomas. He always had an unspoken hatred for Duquesne that I came to understand later.

Every time I watch Kyle Lowry play, I think of when Matta chose Odia over Lowry. And I just want to cry.

Was Lowry going to come to X over Nova if we didnt offer Odia?

Yes. I have heard and read that Lowry wanted to come to X, but Matta and Groce liked Odia better and offered to Odia over Lowry. Once Odia accepted, Lowry wasn't coming to X. Had they offered Lowry over Odia, Lowry would have been a Muskie.

I am getting teary eyed just writing about this.

I know. I have told my son at least five times in the last two weeks while watching the playoffs that Xavier picked Odia over Lowry and he always says "who?" and I say "exactly".

I believe it was even a situation where Lowry tried to commit and Matta was slow rolling accepting his commitment.
