Syracuse transfer sounds like he will visit if Steele gets the job.

who was the coach that made contact I wonder?

if it was Steele he must feel awfully confident about his chances......or maybe he knows something that we don't and things are already in the works.

We need some transfers, Steele really has leveraged himself into an amazing position to get this job. Stats aren't amazing for Moyer but he played in a high level conference in the ACC, and was a 4 star recruit coming out of high school meaning he has potential to develop into a good player. We need some more inside presence, so hopefully this works out, especially with Boudreaux leaving. Still pissed about that.

Has to sit a year though. Has 2 years left but is trying to get a 3rd due to injury.

IF Steve Alford was hired I can guarantee he WOULD bring some kids with him! Not only that since he's been out on the "left coast" he could tap into a "market", out west, that XU has rarely touched! He I am sure also still has connections in Indiana. Also, New Castle, IN isn't far from Cincy.

UCLA has kids from NY, IL, FL and IN on their roster. Committed for 2018 he has a 5 star center from NY, 4 star PG from IN, 3 star center from WV and a 3 star forward from FL.

My point exactly!

His numbers from his this past season aren't great but he is a former top 100 player coming off injury his first year. Sitting out a year at X could do wonders.

UCLA is UCLA, regardless of the coach. You're going to get kids.

I think Brandon Randolph was the only west coast guy we had under the Mack era.

Any idea how many "official visits" X has left for this season? I believe there are limits to this and thinking about Moyer and any additional recruits/grad transfers Steele could be working on (I'm assuming Steele will be our coach announced next week, unless Greg Christopher lands a big name out in San Antonio this weekend).

All joking available, maybe they can announce our new coach during the Final 4 games on TV.

I thought only the player had a limit.

We have one official visit left to give.

I think we will have more than one.

Someone posted in another thread that there might be a NCAA rule where a team can get 25% of their official visits back if their coach leaves for another job. I'm having a hard time finding that post again and it is really hard to google the NCAA rules on official visits. Anybody else hear or see this?

Edit: Found this on the NCAA website:

"13.6.2.6.7 Exception -- Head Coaching Change. In baseball, basketball and football, an institution may provide additional official visits (up to 25 percent of the limitation for the particular sport) after a new head coach is hired, provided the previous head coach used 75 percent or more of the official visits permitted for that academic year. [D] (Adopted: 1/11/94 effective 8/1/94, Revised: 1/12/99 effective 8/1/99, 4/29/04, 11/1/07 effective 8/1/08, 10/29/09, 8/21/12)"

So, the link says in a rolling 2 year period, Xavier would be allowed to provide 24 official visits. Not sure how many we have used in that period, but in the past year, let's just say we distributed them evenly, at 12 a piece. This means we would have recouped 3 officials when Mack left... Has Moyer already taken an official here since he has announced his intentions to transfer?

That is correct. We now have four.
