Just FYI, I looked ahead at the weekend TV windows for the tournament next weekend. As in the last few years- but in a departure from the 30 or so years before that - the game times are heavily weighted towards the evening. Except a night game on Saturday or Sunday night (pending a victory in the first round game, of course :)).

My two cents.......

It's probably not a good idea to go around looking in windows.

Sunday night games kill travel to the games. You have to take Monday off. It is bad for fans that want to follow the team. But they pay a fortune for the TV Contract and TV is what pays the bills. So Friday Sunday I am watching at home.

I would assume
The west will get the later Sunday games. I would think Detroit will be no later then 6? I’m just guessing.

Almost all of the Sunday games are at night. Including, I’m sure, Nashville.

ESPN has the first Nashville game listed 2nd on the TV schedule. There are no times yet, so may not be any significance. But Nashville could be afternoon games instead of night.

They won’t be in the afternoon. The TV breaks down one region in the afternoon on CBS with the rest of the games at night. Check your TV guide and you’ll see it. The cbs games will be the best game/biggest draw. That’s not X or UC.

X will be on TBS so you are probably correct.

How do you know X will be on TBS for Sunday. Just because that is what they are on Friday?

If that is the case the TBS sunday games are 7:00pm and 9:30pm

I thought we wouldnt be CBS either because I thought that is what Nantz/Hill/Raftery would be on but on Friday they are actually on TNT doing UVA.

Last year if I recall correctly the regions stayed on the same network for day 2, so figure it will be the same this year.

So we play at 7:20 Friday. Here are the game times for Sunday. Anybody smart enough to decipher this?

Waggy mentioned in another thread that e thought whatever channel teams were on in 1st round was same in second round. If that is the case we are TBS and the TBS time slots for Sunday are 7:00pm and 9:30pm. Not sure if that is definitely true though about being on same channel.

I have no idea. That would make sense. San Diego is a Sunday game. Just reporting what someone else remembered from last year.

We played late and on TruTV when we had the irrelevant (to 99% of fans) game against Lehigh. No way that game is late on a Sunday night or on TruTV if it was Xavier/Duke or (especially) Notre Dame/Duke.

So its probably pretty up in the air and no way to figure out which time slot. We will find out Fri night I guess.

I think that's right. I suspect they've got a pretty good idea already, but they'll make adjustments depending on what happens in the first round. I'm sure, for example, that CBS is planning to feature Arizona and Kentucky in one of those early games where it is the only game on. If that turns into Buffalo/Davidson, the networks will obviously change plans and feature something else.

They honestly probably dont completely until they see the matchups. They probably have ideas based on what might happen but probably changes some depending on who advances.

Anyone know how to watch online? I work 7pm to 7am all weekend and all of the TV’s at work are broken...

In the past, NCAA has had a March Madness app where you can watch games.

To put some specifics on this, here are the TV slots for Sunday.

12:00 - CBS
2:30 - CBS
5:00 - CBS
6:00 - TNT
7:00 - TBS
7:30 - TruTV
8:30 - TNT
9:30 - TBS

With Nantz and UNC/UVA in Charlotte, they've essentially already declared that those two teams are playing the 12 and 2:30 games.

So the earliest Xavier could play is 5 EDT. That's another CBS slot so they will pick the highest profile game left remaining. That might be Xavier or UC, I guess, but it seems more likely that it will be Michigan State or Purdue. Probably Michigan State. If you agree with that, then it would be Michigan St. at 5 on CBS and then Purdue on TruTV at 7:30.

That leaves the TNT and TBS spots. 6/8:30 or 7/9:30. Logic really doesn't matter to these things but let's assume then that San Diego gets the later window than Nashville, that leaves 6:00 or 8:30. Probably 8:30 so as to put a one seed into primetime. So 6 for UC, 8:30 for Xavier.

It's an educated guess but some aspects of it (that it won't be CBS in the afternoon) are just about dead locks and MSU as the other CBS game is pretty much that, and then the dominoes can only fall a couple ways.

I thought for sure Nantz and his crew would be CBS but they are not on CBS for their first round game for UVA they are on TNT. Not sure if that matters or means anything for second round or not.

Pep band has already been told they won't be coming back until Monday, so they will be one of the late games for sure.

CBS wouldn't air the 1/16 game unless there was a juicy 8/9 matchup to follow.

As for Sunday night, I'm guessing the games in San Diego may also be the last ones to tip off.

Watch all games for free on the NCAA site, but only for so long (something like an hour) until they ask you to log into a cable provider account. I don't have cable, so a pro tip is to use the private or incognito window of your browser so it doesn't collect the same cookies each time you visit. Once the free time is used up, close the app (or maybe even just the window) and reopen again.

https://www.ncaa.com/march-madness-live/watch

Alternatively, I've started subscribing to the new YouTube TV, which actually has DVR functionality. It works pretty well -- I like it better than Sling and Playstation Vue. All of your recordings live on the Google servers for 1 month. I've recorded games and you can jump ahead of the commercials easily, rewind, etc. It's also set up like many YouTube videos, so if you're watching a recorded program, you can set the video speed slightly faster and get through the games quicker. Lots of times I just start watching a game about 45 minutes later and I can see everything without commercials, which is great. You could theoretically record every NCAA game with this.
