The following comes from a Georgetown fan on their message board, following our game with them last night:

"X has built a monster. They've got Marshall & Scruggs to build around in the future. They should be able to pay Mack what it takes. That is just a solid overall program and we need to build up to where they are."

As most of you know, I come from a time when Xavier fans lived in awe of Georgetown. I vividly remember our significant victories against them in NCAA tournaments of many years ago.

Even though I was there for its opening day, and I have been back a number of times since, I was simply amazed with what a powerful presence the Cintas Center projects. It truly is a statement facility.

You combine that with the now decades of culture, tradition and winning that the program has achieved, while we continue to put layers of varnish on all of that, and you can see why we have arrived at a place and a time where we have Georgetown fans making such comments about Xavier.

Just thought I would share that. It makes me feel good. Let's hope that even greater things are around the corner for us for the balance of the season.

Go X!

p.s. The Norwood Cafe set up is a real hoot, not to mention the craft beer set up behind the young alumni Association. X really knows how to create profit centers within that facility!

Remember how unbelievable and exciting it was to beat Georgetown to go to the Sweet 16? That's when GTown was the Beast of the East.

Truly one of the most impactful games in X history.

I remember how exciting it was when Pitt and Providence actually scheduled games against X at the Gardens. Wow, X got a Big East team to actually come play at the Gardens! It was awesome. That was the 1985-86 season when all of this was in its very early stages. (X won both games FYI) Those were the teams that X wanted to be. X wanted to be in that type of conference, playing with the big boys. X has now arrived and because of all of the hard work and effort of the coaches, the players, the fans, and the administration, they are in that league and they are in the top half of the Big East every year. The schedule gets better every year because we are only a plus on someone's schedule. A loss to Xavier is not damaging on a national perspective and a win is going to be Tier 1 most of the time. I go into the Cintas every game and I am genuinely shocked if X loses no matter who they play. Villanova has owned X, but I honestly thought X would win and I was surprised it didn't happen that way. I no longer have any "wow, I hope X plays their best game ever so they might be able to beat team X or Y" I expect them to be able to beat anybody at any time. There is no team that I think Xavier can't go toe to toe with on any given day now. 30 years ago there were teams that I knew X would have to play a near perfect game and have the other team play average or worse for X to win. Now many teams have to play that perfect game and have X be off to have a chance. I love the way things have changed and I am so happy to have been through all of it. Go X! Bring home that first Big East championship!

I hope you feel that way in the morning. I'm hearing that it's about to get bumpy in the next few hours. Hope I'm wrong.

How so? That's a pretty loaded comment. What is it based on? Please don't tell me it's based on something from the enquirer or maybe do tell me that because then I will know it's nothing

Not something from the Enquirer and it affects about 20 programs. Dash is right, it’s gonna get bumpy!

Billy returned from the grave for this?

If any RPI idolatry or Dedrick Finn glorification starts back up, I'll be happy to make sporadic appearances to squash that nonsense.

Hope you guys are well...I need to drop by more.

Wait, how did you get into he young alumni association???

I hope things don’t get too bumpy. It seems everyone has at least a little dirt. I still bet we’re significantly better than most.

Alright, as long as there were no illegal benefits to sway the guardians of the “Young Alumni Association”, or anyone else!

We've definitely grown as a brand in the past couple decades, Cintas was a great step in showing our commitment to our basketball program and what we looked to build for the future. It's coming to fruition slowly but surely, and it's only a matter of time before we knock down the door on a Final 4 and National Championship, as I've stated numerous times, we're on the cusp of amazing things, and I for one am damn proud to be a Xavier alum.

Now we are looking at a possible 1 seed in the NCAA tournament while Pitt has not had a single win in ACC conference play this year. Can you imagine what it is like to be a Pitt fan today (like my brother).

One more reason I do not take lightly how how truly special it has been to witness this amazing transformation -this wonderfully steady climb to the top.

And it is why I felt a sort of calling to start a thread about it a little while back. When I was a student (like many on this board) few had heard of our tiny school or the small conference inwhich we played... and those who did hear of us (including most of those in the media)) refered to us as “Eggs-avier of Ohio.” No more. And I think one of the reasons is that our coaches and teams and fans never seemed to act as if they were inferior to any program they played against. Not Georgetown or Pitt or Louisville or even Duke. We were one bad ass little program and now we are one bad ass major program. We have been playing with an attitude from the beginning.

With a #1 Seed likely, it's time to point out the obvious: that Xavier, with the right conference affiliation, is capable of playing at the highest level, and achieving the grand prize.

Sean almost stayed even with an A10 affiliation. Don't get me wrong. I am not kidding myself: I fully get that P5 football money can still make our lives miserable with respect to coach poaching, but we also know that gap is closing. Could you imagine losing a coach to Wake Forest at this point?

Back to the point of the thread: 2 more boxes are getting checked this year:

1. BE Regular Season Conference Champs; and

2. First ever NCAAT #1 Seed.

I think we've gone from a Buick to at least a well equipped Cadillac. Thank you Big East.

Go all the way, and a visit to the Mercedes dealership is next.
