Final "home" (away from home) game for Xavier ... get your friends to come. Will post regarding postgame gathering when details become known. Also check Xavier alumni calendar ... there is a Greg Christopher event ($25) Friday night, for instance.

Kroll’s, and Scout are two solid spots near the arena. Flo and Santos is my favorite thin crust Chicago pizza place inthe area.
I also believe X is hosting an event at Scout Friday evening.

There isn't an official pre game, but the University and Alumni Chapter are putting together a couple of events around the weekend. In addition to the Greg Christopher event there is also a Faith & Justice event on Thursday evening with Greg Carpinello. More details for both of these can be found at X on the Road (https://www.xavier.edu/alumni/X-on-the-Road.cfm).
After the game, the Alumni Chapter is holding an afterparty at Motor Row Brewing (http://www.motorrowbrewing.com), which is about a 5 minute walk from Wintrust. They don't serve food, but will allow you to bring in anything you'd like.

Thanks XUPUCK10 for the info.
... and then after MBB takes on DePaul and then after a bit of beverages ...
It's the WBB Big East Tournament. Xavier will play either at 4 or 6:30. No question it's been a rough season, but they recently took on one of the league's top, DePaul, and lost by a point 73-72. Also, attending this would be a great way to support the Big East. If you buy a WBB ticket book through Xavier, I think you get a Musketeer point.

Spoke and Bird is also a good choice. A bit pricey for what you get, relatively limited seating in winter months, but a nice cafe nonetheless. Four blocks down from WinTrust on Indiana (I live in the neighborhood).

Yes, but you will have either to hoof it to a Green Line stop or switch CTA trains. Trouble is the Green Line only runs on the outside of the Loop, not all the way around. Your Metra line drops you at Union Station.
Options:
(1) walk across Loop to Adams/Wabash L station about 15 minutes to get Green Line
(2) slightly backtrack walk to Clinton/Lake L station about 10 minutes to get Green Line
(3) walk to Quincy/Wells L station to about 5 minutes to get Orange Line, get off two stops later at Clark/Lake, switch to Green Line
(4) Uber (especially if pressed for time with early tip)

I'm in. I have no idea where I'll be sitting. Saw the Musketeer Club taking a bus to the game so I jumped all over it. This would be quite an accomplishment. It took us 5 years to win a Big East regular season title. Now let's go out and win in outright.

The South Shore stops underneath McCormick Place. Get topside and walk a block west on Cermak to the arena.

WinTrust was the nicest arena I've been to - not including concession service. I am big and tall so leg room and waist room is important. There was enough of both. Concession service was bad. I went down to the first few rows and they had the wider armrest with drink holder. Cut into my waist room. I would much rather sit farther back with more room. Very nice atmosphere.

Yeah it was a really nice venue with really horrible concession stands. Atmosphere was pretty sedate. Didn’t seem to have a student section. No energy but I guess that’s what happens if you don’t have a winning program. Was watching the Duke Carolina game and the Cameron Crazies were in pretty good form.

I think the student section consists of the band section and those 9-10 fans with the Big Heads.

Wintrust is nice, but it doesn't hold a candle to Cintas. Lots of concrete. Lacks character. The concourse is exposed to the exterior (meaning you can see sunlight, folks walking around getting concessions, etc) from your seat. Doesn't make for a very intimate experience. At Cintas, once you enter the bowl, it's just a lot different. Also, their "champions room" was like a sectioned-off area with ribbons and some signage. Really weak.
Didn't experience the concessions, but everyone was bitching about them (apologies, LH). Again, not as good as Cintas with our great beer selection and two unique bars inside the bowl. The only thing Wintrust clearly has over Cintas is the scoreboard. That thing is badass. I would hope that's X's next big investment right after taking good care of Mack and his coaching staff.

Just an FYI for next year. Some of the seats allotted for X are "obstructed view". Meaning part or all of the scoreboard was blocked by the concrete overhang of the "Demon Deck".

I loved the arena. Thought it was beautiful. Will definitely return.
Thought the atmosphere was super weird. Maybe it was the 11 AM local tip time. Xavier had a huge contingent there but it pretty much sat on its hands the whole game. I thought maybe there were just no Depaul fans there but they were actually pretty loud when they cut it down to 1 which makes me wonder where they were the whole game.

I thought the arena was very nice (especially compared to All-State). DePaul fans cheered loud for t-shirt toss and when they got within one. Also, did anyone find the cameraman shots into the crowd to be odd? They consistently panned the crowd even during the action. It was distracting.

Great time. I saw more fans in X stuff than DePaul stuff.
Anybody else remember the Evansville Purple Aces descending on Cincinnati for games at Schmidt and The Gardens? This reminded me of that, but our fans are very cool and theirs were not so much. But they loved their Parrish Casebier [1990 - 1993].

"Aces, Aces, clap, clap, clap-clap-clap"
I saw someone at Disney World wearing Evansville stuff and I said that. He said, "how did you know our cheer?" I said, "Well, you guys used to come and play at Xavier and bring all these fans. About ten...wait...thirty years ago!"

The camera guy was the MVP! Hilarious. Weird indeed. Purposely looking for people not paying attention and then when they looked up embarrassed went away but then would return to them. And yes even during like very short breaks in game action.

Thought the arena was very nice. It's slightly larger in capacity than Cintas and not really bad seat in there. I sat both in the lower and upper sections. Good line of sight but their glass partitions in upper section have metal trim which blocks view (very dumb idea). Concessions were weak, they ran out of beer at the mobile drink cart station near our section. WTF?
Their private boxes on once side of the arena looked like balcony seats in a theatre. The scoreboard and sound system were awesome!!!! Hint, hint, Cintas Center. Not really a whole lot of places near arena to pre-game.
We did the quick business trip in and out and pre-gamed at Reggie's (cool place) thanks to recommendation from BJ. We were able to pay for parking right in front of Reggie's and they had a bus that ran to the arena but we walked it since it was like a 7 minute walk. The game was too close for my taste but it was worth the trip! Outright 2018 Big East Champs!!!
