So, since the MCC days, which one is it?

The only competitor to what is about to take place next Saturday that I can recall is X v UMASS when they were #1 with Camby and Calipiri at the Gardens.

But next week is much bigger. Two titans going at it, not David v Goliath.

X vs Nova two years ago is the biggest I can think of before this one. That was 1 v 5.

If Tyrique isn't healthy we might be in trouble, we need his athleticism against Delgado, who is a freak of nature. I'm just hoping we come out on Wednesday and play a very solid game, and set up a monster showing, Cintas was rocking last time two years ago, and I have a feeling it's gonna be insane this year too, but we gotta take care of business first.

Seton Hall game isn’t epic, but it might be more important. They will kick our butts if they are overlooked. Lose to Seton Hall and there’s a great chance X loses 2 home games in a row... Say bye-bye to a #1 seed. Beat Seton Hall and a#1 is still in sight, regardless of what happens against Nova. Not to mention, the Nova game hype will only be insanely epic if we beat Seton Hall.

My bad, got it confused with the beat down D West put on the Flyers, late regular season in '03......maybe the single best game by an X player EVER!!!

With our last three games being either OT or winning with .03 on the clock, I am very much interested in Seton Hall and nothing else at this point. We need to take care of business, and Seton Hall is desperate for a win. They are .500 in league and don't want to fall to a losing league record. It will put them on the bubble.

I am interested in each 4 minute war at Seton Hall..that is how intense the rest of the way will be. With Providence (which beat us at Prov) losing by 17 to Depaul at Providence this now no margin of error. The playing each other for 2-3 years means every team and player is over scouted, I could tell you how to play Max Struss I have seen him so much(never goes left)

I need to do a better job of setting up the thread topic.

I should have noted that the assumption is that we'll get past Seton Hall. IF we do that, then what do you think about this coming Saturday.

It is rather cool that we've already had a blockbuster game with Nova once before under high-stakes conditions at the Cintas Center. That was a great win.

As I believe D West pointed out, that was 5 v 1.

This one might end up looking like 4 v 2 or something.

Love the Big East.

This is exactly right. I'm not worried about the Seniors on this team because they get it. I'm just hoping that the Seeding Show yesterday doesn't put any extra pressure on guys like Naji, Paul or Q to live up to the ranking. Focus on the job at hand, each four minute war, all game Wednesday. Saturday comes soon enough. I hated that Seton Hall lost on Saturday. They are coming in loaded for bear, desperate and they are tough minded New York area kids.
Strap it up, kids. Gonna be a battle.

Report from NJ and the SHU game. Totally agree that focus must be on Seton Hall. They are a wounded animal at this point. So much hype leading into this season. This team can go one of 2 ways at this point. Fan base has been grumbling for weeks about the coach (what fan base doesn't after 3 losses). Following the Gtown loss, Angel called a players only meeting. Lets see how they respond. There is word back here that Angel is nursing a knee issue and he hasn't been himself the last few games. We know that Desi always comes to play against X and Powell has shot the ball well all season for the Pirates but they never get him enough shots. Carrington is the guy we need to take out of the game. He has played out of position on the point all year. With the heavy minutes being played, it has effected his shooting. Lets hope we run them up and down the court all night. SHU is getting less than 10 points a night from their bench on most nights. Was at the Pru Center for the first game and SHU just runs out of gas in the last 4-5 minutes of each half. We all pointed to this week when the schedule was first released.

I agree with everybody that Seton Hall will be a battle and is a very loseable game.

That being said, win or lose on Wednesday, the Villanova game will undoubtedly be Xs biggest regular season game ever. A couple of top 5 teams. Playing for a #1 seed (perhaps overall #1). And most importantly, with a win Saturday X will control their own destiny for a Big East Championship with only three games remaining - all of which X will be significantly favored. (A loss to SHU would just mean that we control our own destiny for a share of the title).

Focusing on Seton Hall only. 10 battles x 4 minutes each to be won. Savor this game Wed nite my Xu friends. We are building a nice winning streak the only way possible - 1 game at a time.

While X does not have the clout of the top 2 seeds I dont really agree. The committee struggled to get a 4th one seed. I think X has a leg up and a loss on Wednesday wouldnt hurt that much if they won Saturday. That makes Saturday game epic. I think the top 3 are kinda set unless something huge happens.

That being said the biggest game in school history had to be... opening Cintas. That game ended the mid major title and signified the rise to where we are now

Spoken like there isn't potential for Kansas/TT run through the Big 12 tournament, MSU/Purdue through the Big 10 tournament, and Duke through the ACC tournament. Lot of basketball to be played. I'd be shocked if X got a 1 seed without beating Nova at least once (unless Nova doesn't make the BE finals).

I think people are taking this "Don't overlook the next opponent" a bit too far. The players and the coaches are surely focused on one thing. Seton Hall. If they're not, then shame on them.

But we're the fans. Nothing we do, say, think, or post here is going to impact the final result tonight. We're allowed to look forward and speculate. Relax a bit. :)

Hoping to see something special tomorrow. After all, in the last two home games, we've seen a four point play (Bluiett against Georgetown), a five point play (Marshall with a three and a technical on Seton Hall with Bluiettt making both free throws, and a six point play (Jones foul, O'Mara technical, made technical free throws, a basket on the Seton Hall posession followed by made one and one.

I guess we could have a 3 pointer with a foul that angers the player that fouled and gets a technical and then possession for an 8 point play

The rubber meets the road today. No bulletin board fodder or speech will change anything. 9 players (and the non players) must come together as one and play minute by minute, getting loose balls, getting back on D, blocking out and getting the rebound, shooting confidently, closing out, coming to the ball, making good passes, deflecting balls and everything else that needs to be done. Trust the coach, players trusting each other. It will be a beautiful thing and I look forward to it. After 50 years of playing, coaching, watching and parenting 2 X students, I can't believe i still care so much. Lets go X and I think Kaiser Gates is due for a good game (maybe not statistically but making a difference)
