It’s weird AF to have a January weekend with no Xavier basketball. It comes at a great time for the team, as they haven’t had a break this long since exam time. With the conference schedule starting early, it seems BE teams have had some long stretches between games.
As a fan, I don’t like it! I don’t know if it’s a new development, but it feels odd to have nearly a week between games. Hope the guys get healthy and come back with fresh legs and keep up the intensity we’ve seen lately.

Marquette had 9 days off and got blown out. If the team is healthy I'm not sure a long layoff is a plus.
It’s messing with my weekend! No Xavier hoops, no NFL....what am I to do? I don’t actually have a life anymore....
No, the Senior Bowl doesn’t count.

I hate weekends off. Ohio State off too this weekend so double sucks for me I know most of you could care less about Ohio State but I root for both X and Ohio State along with Kentucky as anyone can see from my logo. I am just a big time college basketball fan I like certain Ohio teams (piss off Cincinnati!) and I root for the mid majors and of course Kentucky.
I will watch all games today but just a lot less fun without X playing.

If the team is healthy I'm not sure a long layoff is a plus.Marquette got their ass kicked because X is significantly better than them in Cintas Center and defense is a rumor for Marquette. The layoff actually gave them a chance to insert some new actions that X didn't have on tape yet, but it didn't matter.

This is the first of two bye weekends Xavier has since their conference schedule was front-loaded. The second bye weekend comes prior to the final week of the regular season where they host Providence and go to DePaul.
Xavier only had one bye in the overall schedule last year because one of the conference byes went towards the Crosstown Shootout. I would expect the same setup next year since UC prefers to host the Shootout in late January/early February.
I'd also think that a little extra rest may be beneficial to guys like Bluiett and Jones who have been playing through various injuries the last month.

I ran into Muskie yesterday and asked him what he planned to do with his Saturday free. He just stared at me blankly.

Yeah, though Tre has looked a LOT better in the past couple games, it's still nice for them to take a little breather, and even get a mental break for a bit to gear up, refocus and get the job done for the rest of the season. I like schedule to be honest, I think it's a good point to have a weekend off.

STL, you should also give us live updates of the Arch Baron Cup being played today.

Why don't they have off during the week so they can attend classes.
And I don't have to DVR because I'm on second shift.
I like DVR because you can skip commercials but I can't go on the board and share the experience with all of you fine, upstanding, right thinking and stoic Muskie fans.

More importantly, you can't join GroupChat and see the fine, drunken ramblings.

Not to start anything about any type of league realignment here, but I watched the Dookane Rhody game today. The Dooks almost got 'em.
Keith Dambrot is one helluva coach and he is going to make Dookcane a force in the A10. Prolly not much more than that, but they have a chance to take over Pittsburgh.
By the way, there was a game today with two former Xavier assistants coaching against each other- John Groce at Akron vs James Whitford at Ball State. Damn good game too! OT won by the Ballers

This is a strange weekend but I hope the boys come out with fire against St. John's and smoke them without any drama. Meanwhile, NC State beat UNC in OT today and Virginia won at Duke. Also there's golf at Torrey. It's nice seeing that green grass on a gray rainy day in Cincy.

That UNC loss was nice! I do wish UVA had maintained the large margin, because that would have made Duke look bad, but hey, they won at Cameron Indoor.
Also, Alabama beat Oklahoma, so this has been a very productive weekend off for Xavier. Maybe Kentucky can pull off the upset against West Virginia too.

Stays with the Billilkens? That's their first win in 4 years against the Flyers.

Let's calm down, WVU already lost to TCU and will drop in the rankings, no reason to continue to ruin my life.

True. I was trying to make it more even like they do on the Blackburn Review. Some dude had a sign in the student section: Jesuits > Marianists
