The mid major coaches complaining is total BS. They can ride the backs of the players to a bigger and higher paying job but don’t want the players to be able to move up?!? This is the one situation that actually gives players power and they hate it. Plus, the players have to graduate...one of the few times there is a focus on student in student-athlete.

You are exactly right. I have zero sympathy for Green Bay's coach. He redshirts Kerem and then proceeds to play him on average 2, 8, and 18 minutes a game and then is shocked when he wants to transfer. Kerem has clearly shown he can compete with the nation's best this year despite a rather slow start. He shouldn't have to slave away on some sub 250 team because his coach is a poor evaluator of talent.

You should not have a basketball program in Green Bay, Wisconsin if you do not want people to leave.

If they are going to change it, (Which I don’t think they should) the only change I would support would be allowing those student athletes that graduate in 4 years to be granted an EXTRA year of eligibility. What is magical about the 4-year limit? If the goal of getting kids into college and graduating them, shouldn’t those that can complete their education in 4 years be rewarded?
The red shirt rule is more of a boon to the coaches than it is the players.
