“Chicago (Dec. 11, 2017) - Intersport today announced the formation of a Player Selection Committee to determine the nation’s top senior college basketball players who will be nominated to compete in the inaugural 3X3U National Championship from March 30 through April 1, 2018, in San Antonio. The 3X3U National Championship will pit all-star teams from college basketball’s top conferences against each other in a three day, 3-on-3 tournament. Teams will be competing for a $100,000 prize pool. All participating players must be seniors that have exhausted their collegiate eligibility.”

I would expect Tre to be on the Big East list revealed on Thursday.

The roster is 4. Which other seniors would you include? Carrington, Delgado, Foster, Martin, Bullock, Desi, JP....could be a real solid team and incredibly difficult to narrow down to 4 guys.

How will Tre play in that while practicing/playing in the FF?

Yeah, hopefully Tre and JP will be otherwise occupied.

Hopefully they will be occupied but the lists are made assuming they will be able to play.

My four selections would be: Carrington, Tre, Delgado, Martin. If Tre is unavailable I would sub Foster.

Here's to hoping JP/Tre aren't participating in this event (players in the final 4 can't play) but great opportunity for JP/Tre.

Quickly skimmed the other teams but without looking too closely, shouldnt a team of Bluiett, JP, Kelan Martin and Desi Rodriguez smoke any other team?

Yes even when they need to replace JP and Tre, they still have Foster, Delgado, Carrington, Bullock to choose...

I thought (http://www.xavierhoops.com/showthread.php?32443-3x3U-National-Championship) Delgado would be on the roster, but subbing JP/Desi for a smaller guard and big might be better way to go? Tre and Martin are no brainers. ACCs team is decent.

12 second shot clock.

I think in this format, having wings is the way to go. That roster is about as good as you could get from the Big East for a 3v3 game. They can all handle the ball. They can all shoot and they can all rebound. No need for a big/guard who is more limited

There was an article in esquire many years ago on how 3 on 3 was the ultimate basketball test (2 on 2 is just an alternate possession, 4 on 4 too crowded), I am sad to think they WON'T be in the final four as today are all the sweet 16 reviews. My DVR recording stops with us up 70-68 and maybe I will just leave it at that. Damn and I know the reasons for the loss, some we were in control of and some we were not.

The pay-out structure both: (1) Makes no sense. (2). Is incredibly top-loaded. It's basically championship or bust.

So if I'm reading it correctly, there will be 32 teams (one per conference), split into 8 groups of 4. Each group will have a round-robin format with the winners advancing. But look at the pay outs. There will be 6 games per pool for a total of 48 games. That's 48,000.
4 Quarter finals, 2 semi finals, and 1 3rd place brings your total of 55,000. Another 50K to the champion brings the total to 105....not the 100K it's advertising.

Edit: (Unless they mean, the champion gets 50K instead of any other thing they earned. Which would bring the total to 100 even. That might be it.)

But even failing that, odds are to win a pool, you'll have to win all your games. A 3 way tie at 2-1 is possible, but unlikely I think.
That means the runner up will get 3 + 1 + 1 = 5K, while the champion will get 3+1+1+50 = 55K.
Third place gets 3+1+0+1 (also 5K), and 4th gets 4.
So why should the runner up get the same as the 3rd place team?
Quarter finalists will get just 3K.

What the hell?

So Tre and JP will be on the same Big East team with 2 others to join announced next week? Did I read that right?

Put Foster and Delgado on that team and that would be a hell of a team.

They might be waiting for all parties to agree but the original team nominated also included Kelan Martin and Desi Rodriguez.

Yes, you read it right. Every group of 4 will consist of members from the same conference. According to what I read, they will rank the conferences using either kenpom or RPI or something and seed them 1-32. So ACC, Pac12, SEC, Big 12, Big 10, Big East, and American will be in different pods. Wonder who will be 8th? A-10?

Both also very good but not a lot of great ball handling on that team. Foster or Cartwright would be great addition in place of Desi.

Its 3 on 3 lol. You dont need elite ball handling. The way to win this is have 3-4 6'5-6'7 wings who can shoot the ball and be decent with rebounding/dribbling. Bluiett, Macura, Martin, and Rodriguez is about as good a team as you can get.

Yeah good point. Probably why it would be good not to have Delgado either. I'm guessing its full court? I still think I'd rather have Foster than Desi.

HA, I was framing it as a question at first but then I thought no of course it will be bc I was picturing that one 3 on 3 league the former nba players are in and was thinking it was full court but I guess that is half court.

I'll bow out now!

I guess the cash on the table isn't worth the injury risk. But would have been fun to see him, Martin, and Delgado tear apart the competition.

Yeah that is probably a good guess.

Hope Tre has some good workouts. Havent seen him drafted in any of the mock drafts I've looked at.

I have seen Jacob Evans from UC twice in the first round. Didnt realize he was a 1st round prospect.

He's the Only bearcats besides Cumberland that can go to the NBA. For some reason UC fans think Clark and washington will get drafted.

The 3 on 3 tourney has cash prizes, that is the cash left on the table.

Tre doesnt appear like he will be drafted but he will be able to make very good money playing basketball if he goes overseas.
