Wasn’t he at the Shootout? Hard not to jump on board after that kind of experience! Mack & Co have a great track record in finding these transfers.

Yeah he was at the shootout. Honestly I’m surprised he wanted to come here after witnessing CMs lack of control of his players first hand. /s

In all seriousness, this should be a solid get.

Awesome! Jones, Gates, Marshall and this dude will help out a lot. We now need a 2 year grad transfer from Arizona or Louisville to shoot 3's.

Solid stats and props from his BIG GREEN page.

Graduating a year early (while sitting out) maintaining two years of eligibility. Wondering if he will have access to their facilities? I expect not. Just a bit concerned about what shape he is going to be in next year. I assume this has been part of the discussion with Xavier coaches, so when I say a BIT concerned, it may be just a little bit, not a big bit.

(smart enough to graduate from Dartmouth in three years....although isn't this where Mikey-boy Brown got his degree in "Screwing up your Father's Legacy"?)

37.4% career 3 point shooter on 174 attempts. Really solid numbers for a big who can also rebound as well as he does.

Yup and I’d expect that to rise with teammates who can get him looks. Bernard shot 21% before coming to X and shooting 40%.

Great get by the staff. Looks like a glue guy. Huge numbers in the Ivy League that won't directly translate to BE success, but he'll be able to get a lot of minutes off the bench next season.

Beautiful, sounds like a wonderful addition. Mack & Co usually do well on the transfer wire, so I'm excited to see what he brings to the table for the next couple years. Especially because we'll be thin at the big position.

He went for 25 points and 6 rebounds against Seton Hall 2 seasons ago. If you recall, that Seton Hall team beat us twice that season. Furthermore, I am sure he was matched up against Delgado, who we know is no slouch.

Also, he faced the same Yale squad last year that beat Baylor (who beat us) and posted 21 points and 10 rebounds.

I realize this isn’t always the most sound method of projecting how he’ll do in the Big East, but still shows he brought the juice against some quality competition.

On a side note... some of you that are of a certain age might see Evan’s name and wonder where you’ve seen it before...

You might recall a certain “blue chip” recruit that played for coach Pete Bell and the Western University Dolphins in the early 90s. His name was Neon Bourdeaux. My sources are confirming they are NOT related.

Probably a good thing. If I recall, Western was put under some pretty harsh sanctions after Neon’s tenure.

X has had a few players that sat out a year, and were unable to practice with the team during that year, have they not? Yet those players turned into very productive players pretty quickly. I’m not overly concerned that EB will not be ready to go from day one. He already has a pretty good idea of what it takes to be a successful college player, and he is not going to be asked to be the star player for the team next year. He can concentrate on being a rebounder and a complementary scorer, along with being a interior defender. He would appear to be a solid addition that should be able to contribute from day 1.

Because I live in Conn (with 2 X students)I saw him play vs the Yale team that beat Baylor and took Duke to the wire in 2016. Yale had an A-10 calibre front line of Justin Sears and Brandon Sherrod(both had high teens against Baylor and Duke) and he held his own. Yale needed the game to avoid an Ivy playoff and he annoyed the hell out of Yale on their senior day. I looked it up and he had 10 p 7 reb in low scoring game but yale was unusually athletic for Ivy league that year.

I can also verify from “Sources” that Evan is in no way related to the infamous “Dr. Boudreaux” as related to Jim Rome by former NBA Player Tom Tolbert.
“Doctor” Boudreaux was a purveyor of “substances”. The good “Doctor” would also get to know players, have drinks with them, slip them mickeys in their drinks then when they were passed out, Doc would take Polaroid pics with his junk in their face- apparently for blackmail purposes. Evan is clean and clear from all of those issues.

I know there are NCAA rules about this stuff:
How much does the team practice during the summer?
Is it supervised or unsupervised (how much are the coaches involved)?
Is the conditioning program / facilities available year-round?

So many questions about next season and this one hasn't even finished non-con.

I think Mack has to be counting on him to be an all around player and not just a role player off the bench like Kanter. With our biggest stars graduating we need productive starters both offensively and defensively.

Also my assumption, next year is going to be interesting since we're relying on some pieces that we don't really need to this year, but I still have a feeling we'll be a solid squad again, especially with the growth and development these guys will get over the course of the year.

A lot of these blow out wins are giving Mack a chance to get the young guys minutes. That’s a good thing because we will have to rely on them so much next year. Like Q last year, you have to grow up fast! I’m encouraged.

X will have lots of talent coming back next year to build upon, I'm not worried. Will they be as talented as this year? Probably not, but then again X won't be the only team that is looking for people to step up and replace stars. But I don't see it as a rebuilding year, but as more of a reloading year. Evan will be a part of that reloading.

Probably not as talented? I think that's a given, no questions asked. We only lose the top scoring duo in the entire country for their careers.

Next year is going to be very interesting, especially with the not so highly ranked recruits coming in. The Dartmouth kid should help immediately, but the true freshman probably won't help us that much. We're probably going to have a much shorter bench.

Making the tournament next year would be a good season. No expectations beyond that.

Gotta stay healthy and avoid any drama in the off season, but Scruggs, Goodin, Jones, Gates and Marshall will beat A LOT of teams, especially with the experience gain from this year. Marinating in the presence of Tre/JP this season will certainly pay HUGE dividends for all of the above next year......+ EVAN! BTW Naji Marshall is going to be a MAJOR STAR in the BEast. How many teams are we going to play all of next year that have more talent than Goodin, Jones, Gates, Scruggs, and Marshall? Maybe two or three? Obviously talent doesn’t equal wins but I still think we should be a borderline Top 25 team next year with even more upside.

People tend to forget that OTHER teams lose talented seniors too. X won’t need to compete against the talent the opposition has THIS year, they will be competing against the talent that other teams have NEXT year. They will be fine.

Also, we need to wait I see how Elias Harden develops. Many times a team with 6 or 7 players that can produce, on an average, between 7 - 12 points a game are as successful as teams with 2-3 studs than average between 12-20 points a game. Hopefully no one transfers from XU and we can get one more scoring threat.

I agree with the next man up philosophy. It will be time for the next Xavier stars to emerge. Some have begun to already, as in Gates and Marshall, and perhaps even Q (coach's comments on him after the Colorado game, not about his game play necessarily, but the talent, drive and character...and tremendous upside were interesting and enlightening - made me feel like we have just scratched the surface of this kid's abilities - Mack may have even indicated as such).

Scruggs is not necessarily a concern at this point, but it is hard to put him in that category at this point. Time will tell.

Speaking of Scruggs - the general consensus is the he and Q will play together the bulk of their minutes....at least starting, which makes sense. If they play together for most of the minutes, who will spell them.

New stars will emerge from the newcomers - Evan most likely to a .lesser extent, DJ and even less perhaps Walter...but you never know. It seems like players in general are coming more ready or developing more quickly - especially the bigs. This is what makes this recruiting cycle a bit of a concern, admittedly.

There is a piece (or two) to fill in yet.

Mack and co. will provide.

WE ARE

I think a lot of people on this board are in for a rude awakening next year. JP and Tre have been go-to guys for a few years, that's very hard to replace, especially with essentially a group of role players. We have some talent, but like others have said, not much shooting, and a lot of young guys in key roles and just about everyone in a brand new role. It's gonna take some time to figure out and it's gonna be messy. Getting to the tournament would be a successful season IMO.

Also, its' wayyyy too early to think about this, so maybe let's just enjoy this season and worrying about the rebuild later?
