Anyone here going? If so, are you purchasing the travel package Xavier is offering (tickets and hotel) or are you piecing it together yourself?
Considering going although have never been to a holiday tournament and thought this is almost too good to pass up. Are these holiday tournaments worthwhile?
Any word on the Sheraton Maui that is the Xavier hotel?

I'm going. I won't do anything through Xavier other than perhaps tickets.
What does the school package look like?

Only thing I can tell is that it includes tickets and lodging at the team hotel, Sheraton Maui Resort. No pricing info provided.
Go, have you been to Maui before. Where are you staying?

Won't next year be a rebuilding year for X? Losing Bluiett, OMara, Kanter, and JP...
Huge holes to fill.

But Scruggs, Q, Marshall, Harden, Gates, etc. Rebuilding isn't as bad as it's been in the past for us these days.

That's gonna be a really good defensive team with a great ability to score around the rim. Shooting will be a question, though. On the one extreme, you could just have Gates among major minute-getters, and that would be rough. An average expectation would probably be Harden making a good sophomore jump to offer shooting off the bench as a sixth man. Shooting would be okay then, but not great. A really good outcome would be Kennedy and James being ready to immediately contribute. We'll see how it all pans out.

And they’ll surely pickup an experienced transfer or two. I like the core group. Yes, Trev & JP will be really hard to replace, but it’ll create many opportunities for those that return. For the good & bad. Certainly they’ll go from being a jump shooting centered team to a dribble drive. I prefer that style as it takes some pressure off when guys are struggling with their shot. Also, helps when on the road.

Correct, I expect we pick up a big time transfer in the off season that could hopefuly play right away

I am not so sure, we didn’t just land two top 40 guys to grab a transfer also. I could see it for depth, but Marshall and Scruggs are it next year

A "rebuilding year"? Are you serious? LOL. Q, Riq, Kaiser, Scruggs, Naj, Harden?
GTFO. You weren't going to Maui anyway

What?
We have two open slots this year from Ridder and K Jones. We lose 4 next year. Kanter, Tre, JP and Sean. That's 6 open spots and we have 3 committed for next year. we have plenty of room for the best possible player to present himself.

He's gotta throw the wet blanket out at least 4-5 times every season. I think he's a closet UC fan, his comments at times are bewildering

Cooley Clan will be there in force.
No idea on accommodations.
Mother Cooley XU'81 is a big believer in shooting the works on VRBO.
Gonna be great.

Ehh 2012-2013 when we only were 17-14, but your point remains true.

And that wasn't planned to be a rebuilding year since we thought that team would have Lyons and Wells.
I'd go with Miller's first 2 years as the last rebuild.

Spoke with the X ticket office this morning...they quoted me $1,675/person for five nights lodging, game tix and bus to game. They thought tix alone would go for $400-$500 through X.
It truly is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go to Maui and play in one of the most prestigious holiday tourneys with an outstanding field, but might look to book elsewhere as that seems a bit high to me.

Agreed, losing those two really shot us in the foot. But other than that, we've made the tournament every year, what can we really complain about here??

If that includes airfare it's about what I thought. Tickets will be available from the tourney site, all X games will cost you about $400 each, unless you want courtside, that's about $700 for the 3 Xavier games

The package that they are selling does NOT include airfare. You're on your own to get to Maui. I heard Snipe & Garvin rented a dingy out of Long Beach.

Really hope they sell tickets outside of the hotel package. Really hoping to go, but I'm not going to buy into their overpriced package when I can do it much cheaper on my own.

I’m selling tickets to my couch along with room and board for the Maui invitational for $300. That includes your Uber to my house a spot on the couch and a floor to sleep on. I’ll provide Miller lite and Doritos. Much cheaper then flying to hawaii

X will offer whatever they have left after travel packages are sold,,, in March
The Maui Invitational website will put ticket only up for sale in August.
Is it really that well attended? I’d have thought $10 outside the doors would get you in. Regardless, I might be tempted to watch it from my stool in the pool bar at the resort.
