Take that Big 10!

Smell The Glove!

Would love to have TOSU at the Cintas as a Gavitt game. I think that is a pipe dream. Would love Indiana or Michigan State, too, while I am dreaming the impossible dream.

Madxter is right, gotta love dem Gavitt games.

You have to put pair top teams in each league against each other. It rotates every other year with home and away games. Pretty simple. I would love a shot at Michigan State. Bring them on.

Going strictly on memory here:

X is 2-0 in the Gavitt games.

There was a home and away with Purdue- I think X won both.

X beat IU up in Chicago in Miller's last year.

There are wins over Purdue, Wisconsin, and Maryland in the NCAA. (Wisconsin win was in Miller's last year).

I think there is a win or two over Iowa in Thanksgiving and/or Christmas tournaments (although I am thinking X won one and lost one).

The only loss I can distinctly remember is to Wisconsin in the NCAA, but I'm thinking Iowa beat X in a holiday tournament, but I'm not sure.

Xavier lost to Purdue at Market Square Arena in the late 90s.

I would much rather play MSU at home than OSU

That Thanksgiving day game against Iowa was one of the most frustrating games I've watched. Up big until Semaj went down with a cramp and we threw it away. Totally killed our momentum and we went 0-3 in that tourney.

From the game notes (before the game):

XAVIER’S RECENT HISTORY VS. THE BIG TEN:
Xavier is hoping to continue its recent success against the Big Ten Conference. Xavier has won nine of its last 11 games against seven different teams from the Big Ten Conference since the 2007-08 season, including 4-1 in NCAA Tournament action. XU defeated Big Ten runner-up Maryland in the 2017 NCAA Tournament First Round. Xavier's 11 games and 9-2 record vs. the Big Ten during that 10-year span have been played against Indiana (1-0), Iowa (1-1), Maryland (1-0), Michigan (1-0), Minnesota (1-0), Purdue (3-0) and Wisconsin (1-1). In addition to the last-second loss to Wisconsin in 2016, the other loss was an overtime loss to then-No. 23 Iowa in the 2013 Paradise Jam in The Bahamas.

Nice find USFLDAN. That Wisconsin loss was a bitter loss, and the Iowa was too. We could have been 12-0 against them!

I'm guessing they'll throw Sparty a bone and give them a lower-tier Big East opponent since they're already part of the Champions Classic round-robin with Kentucky, Kansas and Duke.

Think Izzo would want that, or would be open to the idea of playing another tough team to get his guys "battle tested" early on??
