I must admit to having very mixed feelings while watching these games.....on the one hand I want the Big East have a good showing because it helps the league RPI and also how the average fan views the BE......on the other hand, I have a real hard time rooting for the other BE schools or in wanting to see them have any success at all, especially Butler.

Butler has definitely replaced Dayton on my “the school I love to hate” list.

I always found it funny, in our first year in the Big East, when the A-10 got those multiple bids to the tournament, that some of the A-10 fans thought that their conference was going to remain competitive with the Big East.

That did not stand to reason.

Then both VCU and VD lost their head coaches, and any momentum they had at that point, not that they had much of that.

Alignment and commitment are so important. We have it. They don't.

XUBrew is another McDermott critic. He loves to claim that he's a great coach in November and December but goes into hibernation at the midpoint of the season. Last year was an exceptional circumstance thanks to the Mo Watson injury, but historically there is something to those claims.

Looking at Kenpom this morning, 3 BE teams in the top 25, 6 in the top 50 and 9 in top 75. At least on paper, that is a strong league from top to bottom. Only De Paul falls out of top 100 at #130, which is not good but is not terrible. I wonder how that compares to the old BE.

As we approached the end of our time in the Atlantic 10, I became more and more frustrated with the fact that we had to share a conference with LaSalle. I never saw that program as being capable of stepping up in a big way. They obviously never invested properly in their program. Their arena is a stale, dusty joke.

And it always seemed as though LaSalle was the kind of dipstick program that could rise up and win a game that they had no right winning, while damaging the conference in the process. I will never forgive them for ruining Brian Thorton's career at Xavier.

It is so nice with Xavier in the Big East now, and far removed from the Atlantic Dumpster Fire.

Sister in-law's dad makes his own. He uses a Canadian whiskey (can't remember the name - not Canadian Mist, but Canadian something) anyway...

He uses 3 qts. milk to 1 qt. of the Canadian. a dozen eggs and vanilla. Shakes (not stirs) twice a day for a week. He says it makes 2 gallons, but that hardly seems right. I think he had been drinking quite a bit of it so...

No, I actually didn't try any. I usually just get store bought and add Irish Whiskey or Bacardi if out of or perilously low on the Irish.

Not a good day for Big East high ranked teams. Better for X but still embarrassing to scrap a game together and have a small guard carve up X AGAIN.
Villanova losing hurts. Hope they lose to X at Cintas. X needs to get really ready if DePaul nearly beats you on your home court.

Maybe a match up problem.

Marquette had better get their ass in gear if they expect to get a bid. They are now 47 in RPI and really haven't won any big games other than Seton Hall. They need to somehow get to 20 wins.

They'll probably be playing St. John's in the Wednesday "Play-in" game in the Big East Tournament then, ahem, be playing us. We have their number, so they'd somehow better win 6 more out of their last 9 games. I think if they get to a 20-13 record-kinda like us last year, they'll get in because there really aren't too many mid major conference bid stealers, other than a couple of Conference Tournament winners.

I still want 7 of 10 in the Dance.

I agree that Marquette needs to play well down the stretch, but they also have a win at Providence, so that's two Tier 1 wins to go with zero bad losses currently. They have somewhere between two and four more Tier 1 games (dependent on opponent's RPI fluctuations). There are still opportunities there, for sure.

But they're funner to watch than BYU.Yeah, that hurt for them. The bubble is always so weak that they needed to just win a decent portion of their remaining games. It's not like Butler was supposed to be easy, but it was a winnable game and getting to .500 in conference just got harder. I don't think it's likely they'll get in below .500, so that really matters.

One of the videos of the recap (http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/game?gameId=400988093) has the end of the game and the “storming”. I’m not opposed to court storming at all but it might be one of the worst attempts to storm the court ever. This was more of a court strolling. It was as if they wanted to do it because it would be fun but then realized they were storming the court for Wichita St.

Top 4 are almost indistinguishable. Crazy.

Maybe with Providence winning and BE getting 6 teams in tourney, it is better as the 6 teams all will have more solid seeds.

Eric Paschall out this week for Villanova because of a concussion. Likely won't matter against the Johnnies, but their bench will be even thinner for the Butler game Saturday.

St John’s up at half 39-34 over Nova.

Up 67-58 with under 3 to go. Pretty unreal

St. John's really going to go 0-11 in the Big East, then beat Duke and Villanova??? What the actual hell.

How this team lost 11 straight is mind boggling. They had a possession early in the second half where they were moving the ball so fast they looked like the Globe Trotters. Ended up getting a layup after passing up about 4 open shots.

Johnnies have to finish this at the foul line. Villanova just might pull this out with some no-name freshmen in the lineup.

Nova shooting 25% from 3 at home just isn't the recipe for success, somehow Mullin didn't screw this up... screw it St. Johns win out the regular season, make things weird.

Wow! Suddenly winning @St. John's seems like a quality road win

Way to go Johnnies! I love the Big East.

Marquette about to knock off Seton Hall, too.

I'd prefer if X could avoid them in the Big East tourney....

Well, hopefully they stay 10th, because we're gonna be the #1. No St. Johns until the title game.

Last thing we need tonight is a DePaul win and Creighton coming to the C-Link in a foul mood.

If Xavier wins Saturday they should move to #3 with Purdue and Michigan State playing Saturday.

Let’s not go crazy here... this loss might cost a Nova a 1 seed as their margin of error is smaller. Good for us but I doubt anyone is looking at the SJ win as “quality”.

The fact that St. Johns just beat Dook helps. People underrated Nova from time to time. The public tends to overvalue Dook.
