Some of us out of towners were unable to attend tonight's festivities, but I've been waiting all evening for SOME commentary. Anyone there tonight to help us out? The most I've read about tonight is they had some of the new unis in the store. :disturbed:

Why didn't JP participate?

sore ankle for JP
Not much you can get out of a 10 minute running scrimmage
1. I thought Marshall guarding Tre was a good sign
2. Kanter can stroke it for a big guy
3. Goodin scored a bunch in the lane
4. Scruggs already has the body and athleticism to play right away

No dunk contest. Instead, they did a layup drill before the scrimmage where some of the players had nice dunks.
Gates won the 3 point shooting contest in OT over Kanter. They both had 13 in the first go around, then Gates caught fire in the finals with 20 points. I believe the max score is 30. JP and Trevon didn't participate. The other participants were Scruggs and Harden.
I agree with the post above, it's hard to guage things in a short scrimmage. A few years back, Jeff Robinson looked all-world to me at Musketeer Madness. With that said, Goodin finishing at the rim stood out to me as well. He looked good.
Loved the uniforms. Kudos to the gift shop - got the home and away shorts taken care of. Two down, four to go.

Xavier's opening exhibition drew more people (6,150) than SucKS has season ticket holders.

Tre showed a spin move that was much quicker than anything I've seen out of him before, as he usually looks like he's moving in slow motion. He definitely look leaner and quicker last night.

Maybe she can do live comment at every home game about traffic in the Cintas concourse.

She was on the Bob & Tom show, so that's a good reference (?).

You can blame no dunk contest on my kid, when your managers are tearing their ACL's, it's probably not a bad idea to forgoe the dunk contest. 😃
The whole thing seemed shorter to me and really wasn't really enough to com to a conclusion on anything. I think we will be deep though. JP is fine, just tweaked his ankle and they are playing it safe.
Cintas looks great with the added renovations and The Woods bar which was open not serving beer. Huh?
The Xavier shirt for this season is probably the worst one they have ever had.

The logo is fine but the overall design of the shirt is underwhelming. Can barely even tell it's a Xavier shirt.

Torn ACL? Bummer!!! My son did his in high school, along with MCL, and it was a tough recovery, but it turned out just fine. Rehab is the hard part. He came back to be better than ever and tear it up in every sport. Got recruited by a lot of small schools, but he'd had enough injuries and wanted a grown up life. He knew college was paid for, so....
Wise decision.
I hope yours is doing well!

Do the shorts have pockets?

I was in attendance.. A couple observations..
-I think Kanter is going to contribute more than we think. He's a big with a nice stroke and will stretch the floor. It will be nice to have him with the other seniors to help slow the game down for the young guys.
-Marshall and Scruggs have the bodies to play right away. Neither did anything incredible, but they should fit right in.
-Q looks like he's continuing where he left off. Was even finishing around the rim.
-Tre looks to be in the best shape of his life. He is significantly leaner than he has been in the past.
I left Friday night even more excited than I already was about this season. They are going to be deep and they are going to be good.

Yes they do.. I was very tempted to buy the white ones but didn't want to drop $80 for them.

Hell yes. This was my only hesitation to maybe not buy them. I have the last navy pair which didn't have pockets, but the black alternate shorts did have pockets. Pockets are worth ~$50 to me.

Haha yeah I agree... I was even more tempted to get them when I saw they had pockets. I have the navy pair as well and hate that they don't have pockets.

Sounds like all good signs, but also just sounds like a good excuse to go out and see the guys mess around for a bit more than anything. Glad to hear Kanter can shoot it better than I thought though, that could come in handy. Excited for these guys to finally take the court!! It's gonna be a special season.

Thanks, he actually tore his ACL and meniscus playing in the championship flag football game at the Soccer stadium. LOL. Surgery with Kremcheck on Friday. He will likely miss some road games but once rehab gets going, he should be able to return and help out at least. Not sure he will be doing drills and guarding guys like had he had been.

Pockets, flag football, soccer, shorts and boobs. Very informative thread. Can a Nuts post be far behind?

My son had surgery June 24 and was back on the court for a Thanksgiving basketball tournament. That's only FIVE months post surgery. He wasn't 100% himself, because it takes time to trust it. The rehab was tough, but the recovery was AMAZING! We sent him out of state for surgery then dumped the first therapist because they were treating him like an old lady (which is mostly what they worked with in SW Florida). We found an amazing therapist who really pushed him and got him better than ever. It makes you sick any first, but it's not the horrible injury it used to be. It will be tough, but it will also be fine.

I'll do it. I'm not certified yet, but I have a rusty blade that can be used as a makeshift scalpel, and a couple of textbooks.

Be honest, are they math textbooks? I can get over a rusty blade, but geometry won't fix that knee!

It's an ACL right?? I can do some testing to confirm, some anterior drawer's signs, etc. I have a bit of anatomy that should be able to let me locate the general region, idk if I can get my hands on anesthesia, but I have a fresh towel out of the laundry he can bite down on, and the good old Bounty papertowels for the blood mess..

Agreed 100% with this. Kremcheck is the last guy Id let perform surgery on me or anyone else. Family friend went to med school with kremcheck and had very little to say about him that was good. You absolutely should go to another doc in cincy, or somewhere else, even if it means putting the surgery off a little longer

OK, I thought this was a joke until now. We did a serious doctor search. The one the school had "a relationship" with was a hack, IMO. Rarely got it right the first time. Multiple kids had problems. We literally went out of state to the Steadman Hawkins clinic after researching. My brother-in-law Doc knew the surgeon and they are amazing.
I'm sure Cincy has good Doc's, but don't be shy about walking from the first guy if you're not 100% comfortable. We walked on the first guy, even though it was awkward as he was a semi-client. Who cares? My child's well being came first. The other question is what will they use as a replacement. After lots of consideration they went with hamstring. I'm glad to get into the details if you're interested.

Kremcheck and Colosimo are both more show than go as Dr. I have had both, would never go back to either. Colosimo did my shoulder and it has never been right.
