Villanova is ahead of us and Seton Hall behind us in the rankings.

Note that if you do a ctrl-F on that page and type in Dayton, you'll see that there are zero instances of that word on the page.

Seems reasonable... but a little low in my opinion... would have thought X would have been in the 12-15 range but that's my opinion... and not the opinion of some random coach's assistant that fills out these things. What I do find interesting is uc is already at 13. They are destined to be in the top 5 at some point probably by the way their schedule is... Probably their toughest game is against us on the road (for them). Who else they got? UCLA on the road... that's about it. Count those 2 games being their only two losses until they lay an egg against USF or Tulane or something late in the season and they will undeservedly keep moving up the polls and once again be out in the first round of the tournament as a 2 or 3 seed.

They play #8 Wichita State twice. But the first meeting is not until 2/18, so they could definitely be highly ranked with a gaudy schedule going into it.

They also play Florida and MSU.

I have no idea if SMU, UCONN or Memphis has anything this year.

Regardless, UC has some talent and are poised for a great year.

I thought we’d be higher, but I’m OK with the ranking. I’d rather be ranked lower and move up. Last year, I thought our initial ranking was too high and we did nothing but drop most of the year.

I think it's fair. We didn't have a great regular season, which is also why my expectation isn't as high as most.

I'm good with this. It's not where you start, it's where you finish. Mack seems to get these guys to peak at the right time. Let's hope for more of that!

Obviously. But basing expectations off the best stretch of season (which thankfully was in March) isn't good. I think it's promising and a glimpse of how good this upcoming team can be but I think we end up a 4 or 5 seed. I don't think it's as good as the team a couple years ago.

I want Big East success and most importantly to knock Villanova from the top. But agree, tourney success always is #1 for me too.

Interesting note they have JP the #39 NBA Draft prospect for 2018.

Defense needs to be better this year. It was good at times last year, but overall, not the best team Xavier has had defensively. I think this team has the potential to be very good defensively.
