Pitino and Louisville also settled their disputes today. No money to Rick. But he does get to put resigned on his resume now, instead of fired. He'll be coaching again soon.

This happened like a week ago. Pitino got every penny he deserved in my estimation. Changing his termination from fired to resigned should help as long as his intended next employer has spent the least five years under a rock and doesn't have access to the Internet.

I was a crazy huge Louisville fan growing up. I'm not back to being a fan by any means, but now that Pitino and Petrino are gone I don't despise them nearly as much. Beating them in the NCAA Tournament, even though it was just a Round of 64 game and not a game in the later rounds, is probably still one of my two or three favorite Xavier wins of all time. It was great!!

That can't be good for Sean Miller. Unless its possible he had nothing to do with it or knowledge of it but I would find that hard to believe.

Of course Sean knows, because everyone in the game knows. But payments from Nike isn't the same as payments from Arizona.

Then why was Rick Pitino fired?
Payments regardless of who from matter if the coach knows.

Because he was aware Adidas was paying his recruits to go to Louisville.

No. He was fired because he already had the karenbsypher thing, then the strippers, and then the adidas Brian Bowen thing. It was just too much, whether he knew or not didnt matter at that point.

Yeah it was a culmination but the other two he survived, I guess maybe without those he would have survived that one thing? Was the AD fired because he wouldnt fire Pitino? I forget?

Almost any other coach would have been fired for either one of the things that happened under Pitino. With Pitino he either A: didn't know about these issues, which is damning because it shows he his hiring the wrong people and has no oversight, or B: knew about these issues and condoned them which means you can't possibly bring him back.

Yeah he absolutely would have been fine if this had been the only issue. There is no clear cut evidence that Pitino knew.
Rumor about jurich is that he was fired because he would not fire pitino but again I think it's just a culmination of all of the things. A lot of things have come out about jurich since he was fired, which is why hes not been hired anywhere else.

So after all of this, is there any regret from anyone here that Xavier didn't rehire Sean Miller?
Note: Despite my years of rancor calling Sean the Desert Raccoon after his departure, the stand up way he congratulated Xavier after the Sweet 16 game two years ago and the stories of how he tried to dissuade Mack, I would have hired Sean back in a minute. I always liked him when he coached us. Was just upset that he went against his wife's desire to stay in Cincinnati and the Lexus/Buick comment. I have no remaining anti-Sean feelings, except that X HAS to get to the Final 4 before he or Mack do. I still have many bad feelings toward Beaknose however.

Meh. Nothing will happen to him, and he is still the best coach x has ever had to this point. Maybe Steele will one day surpass him.

HBO has a documentary coming out this March about the Scandal. The documentary will not be good for Sean. https://tucson.com/sports/arizonawildcats/basketball/christian-dawkins-in-hbo-doc-you-can-t-separate-ua/article_6763d23c-68b3-11ea-8058-0b9ba81057f6.amp.html?__twitter_impression=true

Can someone explain why Arizona and Louisville aren't on probation? How are Sean Miller and Pitino still coaching?
What a joke.

Exactly - these weren't tiny infractions. These were major types of violations.

My theory and I think it's of high probability is that if the NCAA takes some of these guys down, they are going to talk and expose many, many more programs and coaches that are doing very similar things.

So, Too Big to Fail ? My contention is they should bounce these guys out of Bball. And unload Self and Ole Roy while they're at it. The vast majority of fans would still be invested in NCAA BBall, and the Tournament would go one with great success.

Based on Pitino getting hired by Iona, it appears that Iona isn't too concerned that something is going to happen to Pitino, or at least anytime soon. Incredible.

And it will continue to happen just as it has happened for decades and decades. There's never really any repercussions...I mean some stuff here and there but overall it pays to cheat and it pays handsomely. Not saying it's right, but it's the case. I'm sure schools are still cheating their asses off as we speak

Sean has to be squirming just a bit:
Another wiretap played in the documentary has Dawkins asking Miller about Naz Reid, a former UA recruiting target. Miller implies that Reid may be mentioning Arizona in an attempt to leverage a better offer somewhere else.
"He's going to LSU," Miller says. "We're not even bringing him in on a visit. That's all (expletive). I'm looking at our recruiting board and he's not even on it. I've never talked to the kid. All this (expletive) hype (expletive) on the phone, it's stupid. He is probably saying, 'You know what? (Expletive) you. I don't want 75. I want 120. I may go to Arizona.' That's all that was."

Wow I had no idea the mouth on Sean! Do they all talk like that? I also thought Christian Dawkins could have acted a little more professional during the interview but I guess I’m just getting old. Sean is a total dbag which has me wondering just how many other dbags we had? I got to believe Beak Nose was a dbag as well. After watching that documentary Miller should def have been fired but I guess the words money were never used and only numbers. Either way, he cheated which makes me believe Xavier cheats as well. That whole scandal seemed to be all a setup to get one man and that was the “Prince” Pay these players please!

When it comes to college basketball, I think the apparel companies, agencies, and coaches are like the Corleone family, and the NCAA is like the local traffic cop that's tasked with keeping them in line.

Seriously? He may have cut some corners but no one was lining up to give 3 star and borderline 4 stars money. The big money is played at the top 10-15 recruit level. I think it’s one reason Chris Mack is struggling to get involved with 5 star top 20 guys at Louisville and the fan base is just saying he is not a good recruiter. He is getting bashed for his recruiting results and a lot of their fans say he needs to be reminded this isn’t Xavier. What ever that means. If Chris was a cheater, he would be reeling in top 15 guys.

Boy, that documentary was something else having just finished it. It seemed like such a shit show on every single level to be honest, I also don't think Christian Dawkins is a bad guy, but that's probably because of the way the documentary was filmed, etc. It's strange.
