We lived through Matthew here in NE FL last year.
As it was a Cat 3 approximately 50 miles off St. Augustine, it mercifully turned away from the coast and began heading on a northeasterly course.
AND we still caught hell.
Now here you have a Cat 4 that comes on land. And it just churns. And it dumps a year's worth of rain in a day. All taking place on low-lying flat land.
God bless that region of Texas.

I was supposed to be in Galveston this past weekend. Frontier asked if we'd like to change our tickets to someplace else. Enjoying Florida instead

I can't link the before view. The highways on the left are high bridges above a river. They look like it's only elevated a few feet but it's that is a shitton of water!
