Here's an OU messageboard thread about this weekend. They don't appear to be in a great mood...or particularly confident about their chances Friday and this weekend.

D1 Baseball's Louisville regional breakdown has arrived. Most of the article is premium content, but there are a few paragraphs of free content. Mostly slobbering over Louisville and saying they are going to win the region in a walk. There was some faint praise for Xavier's pitching staff (and higher praise for Lowther individually).

Here's the Baseball America regional preview:

Devon Perez will start for Oklahoma. He's 5-2 with a 3.61 ERA in 7 starts (13 total appearances). 57 and a third innings, 60 hits, 10 BBs and 74Ks. Opponents are hitting .265 with 8 HRs. He's clearly not going to be handing out free passes, so Xavier will need to have success swinging the bat.
Lowther is 5-4 with a 2.81 ERA in 14 starts. 77 IP, 44 hits, 30 BB and 114 Ks. Opponents are hitting .164.
As a team, Xavier is hitting/OBP/slugging .272/.367/.424 with 59 HRs. Xavier pitching has a team ERA of 4.56 with a batting average against of .262.
OU's offense is .274/.379/.419 with 51 HRs. The pitching staff ERA is 4.32 with a BAA of .246.

Burke actually called the regional Xavier was playing in 3 seasons ago at Nashville (the first Vandy regional, not last season).

Wonder if Jim Patterson Stadium is a bandbox or if it's deep like Creighton's park also is. Part of Xavier's power numbers are inflated by Hayden Field, though.

Pregame Xavier party at JB Pub's, Muskie. I'm sure you saw it on Twitter, but just in case...
I'm not going, but I'm familiar with the area, so I can tell you that the bar is literally right next to the stadium. And they won't be selling beer at the game, so you've got to get your pops in pregame (if at all).

Or a few more baserunners even! OU's pitcher has put down 8 straight. Xavier has 2-3-4 up in the 6th seeing the guy their third time, so that may be a chance to break through.
Zac has thrown a lot of pitches, so Schramm or Kent is going to need to be big late if Lowther can hold the lead another inning or three.

As usual, I have no clue when it comes to Xavier's pitching staff. Trent Astle is the afternoon starter.
Jacknewitz had been the 3rd starter during the regular season, but seems poised to be tonight's starter as long as Xavier holds on to win this afternoon.

Trent Astle is an experienced dude. A junior he has more NCAA starts than anyone on the staff. Pitched a great game in the Big East final two years ago to give the Muskies the win.
I'm not worried about him. Just the bullpen & any subsequent starters

He's a senior - he was a frosh when he shut out Creighton in the Big East final. Jacknewitz is also a senior - Lowther and Schilling (last year's closer) are juniors on the pitching staff. Louisville's skipper should be more furious with his runner at 2nd than the umps right now. Even if the runner at home beat the out at 2nd, that is not reviewable at this stage of the NCAA Tournament.

Schmidt's shot would easily have landed on Victory Parkway back home.

He didn't have the benefit of seeing a replay. Otherwise, you are correct.

I think the Louisville basrunner got his corn rows tied too tight. Not enough blood circulating to his brain.
Cards are in a giving mood!

Kent is a mess.

Needed better out of Kent. Kirschner is about all that's left. Schramm threw the last two days.

Helluva mess for Kirschner to clean up out of the bullpen. Giving up 1 run is palatable right now, but he can't concede anything further. Bobbling the sac bunt is a killer.

Louisville's bullpen is absurd. Probably the best part of their team. Need to strike now. Particularly before they get to Henzman.
Maybe Grammes can hit one about three feet higher this time?

If there's a silver lining so far tonight, Xavier has lasted longer than at least one national seed (Stanford). North Carolina is also in serious danger of dropping a pair to Davidson. That would be the 6th-place A-10 Davidson Wildcats - they have a grand total of 3 scholarships to divide to their players.
Davidson's starting pitcher attending pharmacy school is their version of Matt Stainbrook as an Uber driver.

Fielder's choice and a throwing error puts Xavier back on top 7-6. They can put pressure on the pitcher with the speedy Will LaRue at 2nd.

Well, he's a Louisville St. X kid, so he's clearly a scholar and a gentleman.

Kentucky and NC State will play a deciding Game 7 in the Lexington regional tomorrow night. Xavier would play the winner if they somehow win tonight and tomorrow night.
Now 8-7 Louisville with their closer about to get his 2nd inning of work. Xavier will get their heart of the order at least once more this game.

That was Rylan Bannon's diving catch on a line drive. Saved at least one run and maybe more in the 2nd inning.
