So, you're the President or AD for UC.

You wake-up, perhaps looking forward to the running of the Kentucky Derby.

You open your morning paper over a cup of coffee, only to find that a huge, Cincinnati-based corporation by the name of Kroger agrees to naming rights for the University of Kentucky's football stadium - 90'ish miles away in Lexington, Kentucky. UK. UK FOOTBALL. That's almost an oxymoron.

Poor Bearkittens. Second class is second class, unless it's actually steerage.

Paul Brown Stadium is not in Cleveland. At least they named the team after him. Twice.

Kroger CEO Rodney McMullen (and X Board of Trustee member) just happened to graduate from UK.

I mean Nippert isn't going to get a corporate name in this lifetime and they already have a naming rights deal with 5/3, another large Cincinnati brand. Not sure there's much to see here. Seems like a huge stretch to make fun of UC.

Edit: Nothing wrong with stretching to make fun of UC. All for it.

Quick Kroger rant: How can some stores (like near my son's in Nashville) be so very nice, and the one near me be such a dump?

In my upcoming Publix rant I will tell you fish is generally $2/lb cheaper at Kroger, except on swordfish or tuna where Publix is about $36/lb and Kroger is $9.99. I wish I was kidding. (I have fish at least 3-4 times a week, and this pisses me off.)

OK, I feel better. Thanks, and carry on.

Where I live, Publix came to the market about 10 years ago.
They put the other grocers to shame with their store layout, cleanliness, and most especially an apparent corporate culture of friendly personnel.
And their prices here are competitive across the board.
